This place is legit — I’m saying this as a Taiwanese person who grew up eating authentic Taiwanese food. Do yourself a favor and don’t go for the typical take out stuff, but go straight to the Taiwanese page of the menu and enjoy. The stewed beef noodle soup was super tender, the broth robust and flavorful, and as close to the real deal as you can find here in NY. Big portions, reasonable prices. Great for pick up orders since they only have a few seats. You don’t come to these hole in the wall places for the décor, but the food is worth it!

I enjoy reading some of the comments left by Unilocalers. Pearl Garden, lets see… trying to start positive. Free can of Soda is all that comes to mind. For me, it was a one and done. Everyone loves the pork chop and rice, so guess what, I try the pork chop and rice. Pork chops were large, maybe from being pounded to tenderize. But they were also very thin. Deep Fried thin dried meat does not make too many people very happy. But you never know if you tried, it just may be your style of food.

Though it looks like a ghetto, unassuming Chinese take out, they operate as a Taiwanese mom and pop shop with excellent food. __________________________ Try these: Pork chop over rice($ 7.50) Taiwanese style fried pork chop over rice. They include little goodies like minced pork, soy-sauce tea egg, pickled sweet vegetables. This alone can feed one person. Rice with Chicken Thigh and Leg($ 7.50) A huge leg of chicken also fried similar to the pork chop over rice. And they include the same little goodies minced pork, soy-sauce tea egg, pickled sweet vegetables. This was our favorite. Fish Filet over rice($ 7.50) Nice big piece of fried rice over rice, minced pork, tea egg, and other things included. They fry the fish fresh. Yummy overall Taiwanese Stir Fried Noodle($ 8.00) Stir fried thin noodles with shrimp and other things in there. The portion for this is big! You could split this into two meals if you wanted. Very Good Three Cup Chicken(San Bei Ji)($ 8.00) Chunks of chicken in a sweet soy sauce glaze over rice and including all the other goodies. Good portions with this one. __________________________ Basically try anything on their Taiwanese menu. The complimentary hot soup included, which is also very good. Service was excellent. They threw in two free drinks and let us have extra soup on them. I tried to pay them tip, but the lady wouldn’t let me. It feels like I ate at my popo’s house. It’s official. Whitestone actually has a legit Taiwanese joint. I’m coming back!

Brought the family in here for lunch today around 11:30ish. Got 3 out of the 8 seats available. This is a take out restaurant and so happens to have seating for exactly 8 right next to the door. Ordered the Pork Chop with Noodle Soup(Excellent) Ordered the Stir Fried Rice Noodle(Excellent) Ordered the Fried Fish Filet on rice.(Excellent) For each order, we got a soup or a soda. We chose two pumpkin soups and one soda. That was our only mistake. We should’ve ordered 3 pumpkin soups. The«free» soup itself was really good. It’s like grandma cooked it and you can’t get it anywhere else. Nostalgic is not even the word to describe this. The bill was less than $ 24 and I got to take a soup and packed my leftovers to go. The next time I come back, I’m going to telephone it in. During the time I sat and ate, the phone was off the hook and it got crowded really fast. I even overheard someone putting in a mass order from the staff at «The World Journal,» which is the leading Chinese newspaper in the area. If they’ll eat it, why shouldn’t you?

Photos are accurate! Amazing spot for authentic Taiwanese food take out. Who would’ve known from the outside? The only reasons why it’s not 5 stars for me is 1 — the place is pretty run down and 2 — long wait, so best thing to do is call in advance! Also, they are off Mondays now! Don’t believe the menu hours, haha. For 8 bucks per order, they give HUGE portions. I can split each order into two meals. They also give you the option of getting either a free soda or a free soup. Don’t miss out on the soup. They put generous amounts of ingredients for the soup(it’s not just MSG plus flavoring like a lot of Chinese restaurants), and it simmers for the whole day which means tons of flavor.

This place wasn’t like the reviews say it was good, it wasn’t good at all. They don’t even deliver. What word of the Chinese place that doesn’t deliver. Will this place doesn’t deliver. And the food was just OK.

Was in the area and hungry, so stopped in here. Very impressed with the food. The definitely not your ‘typical’ Chinese take-out. The pork chop over rice is very good and filling. The egg rolls seem to be made in house(and good) and service is personal. Always a good sign when you’re the only non-Chinese to stop in over 30 minutes.

while searching on a lazy sunday for some good old junky chinese takeout on Unilocal,i stumbled upon this restaurant. this is NOT your typical americanized chinese food(though they do have that on the menu too). they offer a taiwanese menu that offers the kind of chinese takeout i’ve longed for… something closer than going into main street flushing, and something better than just some greasy lunch order that comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. i initially called for delivery but the woman(presumably the owner) apologized profusely that there was no delivery today. so, i got my lethargic butt up and out and drove over. this place does look like your standard takeout spot — no frills, seating for a max of 8. however, i was surprised by two things: 1 — there were chinese people there, eating and standing on line to order. this is always a good sign. a chinese place with chinese people? yep. it’s going to be good. 2. the place was run by only 2 people — presumably, the mom and pop that previous Unilocalers have written about. the older woman was incredibly friendly, despite my inability to speak chinese.(no judgments, as i’ve experienced in the past.) food takes a more little time to come out but its well worth it.(not terribly important but you also get a free soda with every order.) i ordered off the taiwanese menu, as this is what most Unilocalers recommended. i will follow suit, imploring you to try the pork chop over rice. it’s savory, with a mild sweetness, served with napa cabbage, some regular picked cabbage, a tea egg, and rice topped with a ground pork gravy. portions are very good — 2 chops per order, definitely enough for a second meal. i also tried the beef noodle stew. the pork chop definitely won the day, but the beef has a nice spiciness to it. when i come back, i’ll likely order the pork again, and try something else off their menu.

On the outside, this place looks like a typical Chinese take out restaurant. However true to all what the fellow Unilocalers say. This is a Taiwanese mom and pop restaurant. The take out box is huge, the taiwanese pork chop and rice is the best I’ve had! The pork chop is deliciously marinated and does not taste plain. It comes with veggies, a boiled egg, minced pork, and sour cabbage on the side. The portion is generous and it cost $ 7.50. Definitely the bang for the bucks.

The pork chop rice has improved greatly, less sweet, and the homemade soup is one of the best parts. It is different every day depending on the season. If you are not the meat eater, try the Japanese style fried fish over rice. It is delicious too.

The order is huge, it is good for 2 people. The food also taste good, make sure you order from the Taiwan menu. And make sure you call to place the order because the wait time was 40 minutes for me.

Jesus Christ it’s nice to find a Chinese food spot that doesn’t give you chewy nasty steamed chicken. Hole in the wall Chinese food spot would never go to unless you knew about it. Amazing food

Who would’ve thought a little take-out place in Whitestone would have the most authentic Taiwanese beef stew noodle soup! Also got an order of pork chop over rice and a Taiwanese stir fried rice noodle for mom and pop to enjoy. Never seen such huge portions before! $ 7.50-$ 8 per order comes with choice of soup or can of soda! By the way, each portion is so huge I couldn’t finished it in one meal!

Friend told me about this place 3 weeks ago, and I have visited them 5 times already. absolutely loving their traditional Taiwanese food. Only $ 7.50 for their over-rice, I have never seen such big to-go boxes for any take out. Pork chop rice is amazing! It is by far best I have in ny and the rest is not even close. I believe the restaurant is owned by an old couple, they are extremely nice and always greet you with a big smile. For those who hasn’t tried! Don’t wait, you are going to love this place!
