As far as Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants go, this place is one that consistently delivers. For appetizers, I would recommend the crispy taro roll. They’re staff is friendly and their restrooms are clean. One advice — try not to sit near the window seats, because they have a buzzing neon light that can get annoying.

Consistency and friendly service are what you will find here! Lotus Pad has been a stable of ours here in Whitestone for a couple of years now. So much so that when the hubby and I sit down the wait staff tells us our order. The sesame chicken, young chow fried rice, scallion pancakes and the dumplings are some of our favorites! So head over to Whitestone and enjoy this family-friendly eatery!

Really solid food, great and friendly staff too. There are plenty of choices around here for Chinese food and would recommend this.

Our first time here so we went with some basic dishes. Soup dumplings, wontons in chili oil. Young chow fried rice and chicken with mixed vegetables in garlic sauce. All of the dishes were very good. The service was efficient and friendly. The price was very reasonable so my wallet loved that. I noticed many Asians eating here so that is a good sign of the quality. Next time I will try some of the more authentic dishes. The tables near us had some real chinese dishes that smelled fantastic. Can’t wait to come back. If you live in the area, this seems like a great neighborhood chinese restaurant.

I always order take out from here. The Lunch special is only for weekdays sadly. Their beef and broccoli is delicious, but unfortunately the last time I ordered it along with chicken and broccoli, there was 75% broccoli and 25% meat. Their chicken noodle soup broth is pretty good. Shrimp Lo me in is especially good… Just not as much meat. Hot and sour soup is really good. I ordered so much food for a family dinner, and they all enjoyed the food. Just the portion was small and I was not happy about all that broccoli we got…

Always passed by this place while going to a supermarket near my house but I never went in until my friend suggested this place to eat for dinner. Surprisingly pleasant, they have a huge space and it feels like I was at home. All the foods that we ordered all tasted the same, there was nothing special about the food. The service was amazing. They were so patient with us even when we had trouble deciding our meal. The fortune cookies were really unique because they had chocolate too, so when we asked for more, they gave it to us without hesitating! Coming here for service, don’t expect the food to be amazing

Love going to this place. Service and food is great. Make sure to get the scallion pancakes when you’re there. They make them million times Better then other places in flushing

Welcoming and friendly. In addition to their daily specials there are an abundance of lunch specials to choose from. Make sure to order the boneless spare rib, you won’t be disappointed. It’s served hot and actually melts in your mouth. If you are looking for a really spicy dish order the Ma Poo tofu! Great choice for lunch.

My family comes here for almost every occasion and each time we’re here, this place does not disappoint! Everything is so authentic and delicious. Yes, they do have options for Americanized Chinese food, but they also have the best Taiwanese appetizers(stinky tofu, fried intestine, green onion pancakes) and main dishes. My family always gets the walnut shrimp, salt and pepper pork chops, veggies, and the fish head soup. We come here so frequently that the owners often let us try out new dishes they’re testing and special orders(the roast duck filled with sticky rice being one of our favs). If you ever want to avoid the Flushing crowds and are looking for a low-key restaurant with great food, you should definitely come to this hidden gem.

Swung by here last night, 30 min to closing but they were friendly and accommodated us without question. We ordered the pork chop over rice, beef stew noodles, crispy intestines and the oyster omelette. I’ve never really had Taiwanese food, so i was curious and am glad i had this. The oyster omelette had a small serving of sauteed spinach and oysters at the bottom with a layer of thin rice paper(i think that’s what it was) that softens and has this almost gelatinous texture(sounds weird but iit was really tasty) with a thin layer of omelette on top with a slightly sweet sauce. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The crispy pork intestine had a scallion inside which was smart because it keeps the shape and adds flavor. The intestine was incredibly crisp and not too chewy. The beef stew was not very special though, the beef was lean but tender, the addition of pickles added flavor to the soup base, and the noodles were the right texture. The dish just wasnt really what i was looking for i guess, but it wasn’t bad. The pork over rice looked good, but i only had a bite if the pork which was juicy and crispy, so i expect the fish was pretty awesome. Although i usually see this dish with a sauce poured over it, but this just seemed to have picked and cabbage with the rice. Again, service was great and friendly, apologies for coming by when you were probably trying to close! I live pretty far away so i doubt I’ll come by again. However, i would encourage you to!

I really enjoyed the food here. Best hot and sour soup and Chinese food I’ve had in a while. The food was very flavorful and the portions were reasonable. The lunch special is cheap, only $ 6.50 for a dish– which comes with rice and the soup of your choice. Service was good. The staff were really nice. The restaurant is very comfortable and clean. They play traditional Chinese music, which my mother loved since it reminded her of er childhood. *The only disappointment was that they ran out of tofu when they are located RIGHT next to a huge Chinese-Market. The tofu selection takes out 1⁄5 of the lunch menu options(aside from chicken, pork, beef, seafood)… but this didn’t affect us too much since none of my family members is vegetarian. I recommend this place.

I stumbled upon this place as I was going to the super market. I was very happy i found this place because there’s not much good taiwanese places around queens anymore. I’ve tried most of their traditional taiwanese dishes and overall very tasty and authentic. My favorites are the scallion pancakes and stinky tofu! I like that this place gives you the option of Chinese American food as well such as sesame chicken, chicken broccoli, general tso’s etc. The older couple which I assume are the owners are super friendly and nice. To me, the food is definitely important but customer service is more important. If you have good food and rude service, that just ruins the meal and your experience. First off, the female waitress with the short hair isn’t the friendliest. When she takes your order, she seems uninterested and doesn’t engage with the customer. The older male waiter is definitely much better and friendly. He suggests different options on the menu and engages with the customers and he SMILES. How hard is it to smile? I actually want to give this place a 3 star because I was so upset the last two times I went there. I felt bad because the owners are so nice and sweet and their food really is great. Why I was upset with this place the last 2 times was because of the young lady with the glasses(not the youngest one) who sits behind the register. She is NOTFRIENDLY and shows a nasty stank face. When she tries to be nice, you can tell it hurts her to act like she cares or to show any type of courtesy. Not hospitable at all. She is sarcastic and just plain rude. Her FAKENESS which is TRANSPARENT really upset my friends and family the last time we were there. It makes us think twice about going back.

I wouldn’t say that the food here is brilliant, but there are many reasons why I come back here again and again. I usually order some basic dishes like 3 cup chicken, stir-fried french beans, and I really like their deep fried chicken chop. I am very picky about my Chinese food. I give this place 5 stars because I find the food reliable, consistent… but much more than that, the service is excellent. It’s a mom and pop shop with two grown children who help out in the restaurant as much as they can. And it’s a clean and spacious restaurant that has been wonderful for me to take my daughter to. Flushing has many restaurants which are extremely busy and crowded and difficult for kids, but this is perfect for families with kids. I go there often and I also order take out when I have a party at home. The food arrives on time and the Taiwanese menu is pretty good.

Absolutely inedible. Got the General Tso chicken. Nothing but deep fried chunks of fat. Noodles with vegetables were pasty and the only vegetables were a handful of onion slices and two slices of carrot. Dinner went right in the garbage. I feed my kids cookies instead. Probably more nourishing and they won’t end up sick. Warning… don’t waste your time or money.

The food is a mixed bag of blessings. For example: stinky tofu is great but not the picked cabbage that comes with it. Pork stew noodle(Ruo geng meng) has an authentic soup base, but not so tasty rou geng. Salt & peppered pork was good, not so gingered stir fried fish fillet. Of the dishes we had, I would recommend the Taiwanese meatball(rou yuan, very authentic), crispy taro rolls, and boneless ribs. I heard their beef noodle soup is quite good, although I have yet to try it myself. The place has potentials. Because of the ease of parking(it’s located in a strip mall, plenty of parking), I would definitely return for rou yuan, crispy taro, stinky tofu, and to try other Taiwanese dishes.

Good Taiwanese food, okay other ethnic Chinese dishes. Came here a number of times even before their long closure and re-opening. Good prices, and great waiter service. Dishes are tasty. It’s kind of out of my way where I currently live, and still a hike from where I use to live. Subway transportation is a no go, and bus transportation comes often enough from Main Street, Flushing. Parking is easy with a parking lot out front, and reservations not needed since this place is mostly empty.

I didn’t want to deal with the craziness of Flushing but still wanted some Taiwanese food. Thanks to Unilocal,I found myself in a mostly deserted restaurant in a shopping complex(with plenty of parking!). Stellar stinky tofu and salt and pepper pork chops! I think the server was surprised to see how much I can eat! Will definitely be back when the craving hits again…

3.5 stars. We came here since we were in the area but didn’t get to order too many things off their Taiwanese menu so can’t make a fair assessment, however any menu that has«beef and broccoli» automatically screams CATERINGTOAMERICANS aka NOTAUTHENTIC. We tried: Pork Chop Noodle Soup Beef Stew Noodle Soup Fried Stinky Tofu 4 different cold dishes(of which only the drunken chicken was memorable) I’m a bit confused as when Ching Yeh was in downtown Flushing, they had an awesome menu full of real Taiwanese food so coming here and not finding the same was a bit disappointing for me. However, their porkchop is the same exact style as the old store, which makes me wonder if this is really the same one, or did they just take the name and copy the porkchop style? I absolutely love their salt & pepper porkchop. LOVE. I will come here only for the porkchop over rice/noodle. Stinky tofu was pretty good as well — fluffy and crunchy, the way it should be. It smells but not when you are eating it so that might be a good thing since it won’t leave a garbage truck after-smell. Hubby hated the beef noodle soup, so stay away from that. Tasteless beef, tasteless soup. I love drunken chicken and when it’s made right it’s friggin DELICIOUS. It is made right by Ching Yeh. Think we would only come back here if two conditions prevail: 1, we are in the area, and 2, we are so low in gas that we can’t make it to downtown Flushing to eat …or maybe if I really had a craving for their porkchop…

Ching Yeh is my go-to for authentic family style Taiwanese food. Then again, I drive and will avoid Main Street with all my might if I have to. I’m actually very glad Ching Yeh moved away from Downtown Flushing to this remote strip mall. Parking galore! They have my favorites: Crispy Pork Chops with Salt & Pepper Sauteed Chinese Watercress with garlic Bamboo Shoots with Beef Crispy Pork Intestines Brought a few noobs and they enjoyed their first authentic Taiwanese meal. You will too!
