How can anyone not always want to go to a Mom and Pop old school Deli? In Area so I decided to drop by and see if reviews live up to the hype. Honestly, all I tried was the Rice Ball, and it was very favorable. We all had some horror stories with rice balls where we wish they rolled away in some stores, but not here. Very moist and making me want to visit another day. Maybe try my luck with a sandwich too.

This is the best deli in town. My grandparents used to buy everything here. Especially cold cuts. And now i get all my salads and the staff makes my iced coffee in the am for me to the tee. I love them. Friendly and family oriented. Thats how i like it. I also recommend the bow tie salad. Yummmmmm. :).

the freshest coldcuts you will ever find! my family has been coming here forever. the ravioli is amazing as well. it’s such an old school/home-y place. I cannot think of a single complaint. all of the food is delicious. I’ve never encountered any«bad» employees. my mom lives 2 minutes from here(as I did growing up). I still come to buy mt cold cuts here!

I use to live a few blocks from Dursos and when I moved to Whitestone I was in panic to find a good deli. Varsi Deli came up on the radar and only after about a month trying their food, I can honestly say their sandwiches are in a class of its own. Im looking forward to trying more of their pastas next!

Been coming here since 1980, before school I would order a hero Italian combo, roasted peppers, the two old Italians brothers running a small deli in queens which seemed to be more of a deli you would find In Italy. Taken over years later by 3 brothers, Carlo made the best Sammie’s, thAn pino, oh of course Mario!!! Won’t hurt to crack a smile. N if ur lucky get there early fresh bread daily, homemade ravioli, best cole slaw in town … Catering top notch … Best deli in nyc!!! btw the chicks make awesome Sammie’s too!!!

I’ve been a customer for as long as I can remember. The sandwiches are the best in Whitestone, the cold cuts are the freshest anywhere. Friendly staff always serves with a smile. Italian specialties are the best.

I’ve been a Varsi customer for nearly 30 years. First going in with my father when we needed their delicious food for the house. You can’t get more authentic than this place. The sandwiches are top notch and filled with everything from roasted peppers, to mortadella to chicken cutlets to Italian tuna. They make fresh pasta in the adjoining storefront, and I just love a place where it’s harder to find a coke than it is a cinotto.

This is where you go for your cold cuts and sandwiches in Whitestone. The go to sandwich is simple. Eggplant Cutlet, Roasted Peppers, and fresh Mozz. Great variety of italiant specialties.

During the work week you tend to go to the same 5 or 6 places when you only get 30 mins to eat lunch. You end up hating those 5 – 6 places. So on that day you are finally fed up with the same places, you decide to venture out. Most of the time its something lame: a Subway or a Panera Bread. But once in a blue moon you decide to give a different deli a shot. That brings me to Varsi Deli. After a coworker stumbled upon it, I decided to give it a try. The deli itself is very old school Italian. Meat hanging from the ceiling and fresh homemade goodies all over the place. They have a special sandwich selection so I decided on the Three C’s. Chicken, Cheddar, and Chipolte. The chicken cutlet tasted like it was just done. And the chipolte sauce they have was this honey mixture that was so good. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend you stop and get anything in there to eat! I wished I worked closer.

I am a fan! Wonderful staff. Their prepared food is always fresh and tasty. They make amazing sandwiches, rice balls, mozzarella… and a lot more. The cold cuts and the sausage are always fresh. Their safe food handling is exemplary. Love the bread choices. Love the variety of the Italian specialties and seasonal goodies. I have 3 deli stores in my neighborhood and do not mind traveling 4 miles because they are simply the best.

Old school salumeria. They carry Boar’s Head cold cuts and all the great italian meats, soppressata, salami, mortadella, etc… BUT if you go you have to buy their homeade mozzeralla, absoulutely deliscious. Also, there many different varieties of raviolli are really good.
