This place has a great sushi chef and outstanding sushi dishes. I was impressed with the presentation and quality of fish served. It is by far one of Whittier’s great restaurants. The prices I found to be responsible. Best of all both my little girl love this place and is the one place we all seem to agree on coming back again and again.

The chefs were really nice, they gave us a complimentary salmon salad. However all of the sushi rolls tasted exactly the same we ordered 2 and the chef tricked us into getting the third one, i could not understand him and he served it to us any ways. Our total was $ 65 which was too much considering the food was not that good. I will not be returning because when we walked in one of the chefs was sleeping with a blanket on the table. The lights were off and the music was off. The restaurant smelled really bad and it was really warm inside. They also forgot to bring us our menus and the chef asked if we wanted miso soup and garlic edamame without informing us of the prices. After about 10 min of waiting they finally gave us a menu.
Overall, i did not like the sushi rolls. The other plates looked good but in regards to the rolls they were plain and tasteless. Unfortunately, i will not come back.

I was looking for something to eat but did not have an idea. It’s really hard to go out for sushi when my wife isn’t a fan of sushi. My younger brother recommended E Sushi because it would satisfy both of us. E Sushi not only has sushi, they also serve noodles. So we had to try it. I do have to say, it’s a winner! I gave it 5 stars because not only do they have great food, their service is outstanding.

Love all the different fish they have to offer!
A big huge plus is that they were so friendly and accommodating to our 6 y/​o son!

5 stars food and services!
You must try this amazing and great restaurant. Sushi is unique and delicate, my first time to try sashimi, so delicious, it’s incredibly fresh and melt in my mouth. The rolls are flavorful and tasty. High quality service, especially, the chef, Kawa is super nice, friendly and professional. I love this place and will come back again.

Chef John creates an atmosphere that sucks you in the minute you walk in the door. From quality, (I’m talking high end) fresh sushi, it’s no wonder why so many of his regulars followed him to this new spot. I highly recommend the flying fish, and sea urchin. You will not be disappointed with anything on this menu. The chefs take great care and attention to detail with each plate, no matter how busy it gets

This place is good, it use to be Sushi of the East. (Ewa’s) now there’s a new owner. But the food still great. They have there own menu with new items which is also good.

The food is good but I believe they forgot about my order. I was planing on picking up my food and getting home quickly. I guess that’s not going to happen. They are currently understaffed and the manager keeps assuring me my food is coming out in five minutes. That was 55 minutes ago.
Yes, the food is good but not worth an hour wait for take out.
One place I will cross out for sushi. The manager will not admit she forgot about my order even after pointing out people have received their food, consumed it and paid their bill.

My wife and I were in Whittier and looking for a sushi spot to handle our craving. We came across this spot after wondering around for a while. We actually found this place on Unilocal and read good reviews. We walked in and sat at the sushi bar. When it’s just my wife and I we love to sit at the bar. Staff was very friendly and on point. The sushi chef even gave us a plate of octopus sashimi on the house that was amazing. Right from the start we knew it was going to be a good experience. We started off of course with two beers as we looked over the menu. We then ordered some halibut and salmon sushi. Fish was very fresh and very tasty. We then ordered some rolls. I don’t remember the name of the rolls but I can tell you that they were great. Very flavorful, fresh and can’t go wrong with made in front of you as you order. Can’t get fresher the that. Once we left stuffed of course we said we would definitely be back. If in the area or looking for some delicious, fresh food and great staff give this plane a try.

I expected better based in other Unilocal reviews. It was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. Especially a sushi restaurant. Nobody else was dining. Sushi was warm and slimy. The Roll we ordered was sloppy and falling apart. There were two flies that bothered us throughout our meal. Feeling pretty grossed out about this place we spent 30.00 on two rolls and water.
Expensive do not waste your time and money.

This place is a MUST TRY! My girlfriend and I came to eat dinner here last night and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience.
Immediately, we were greeted with smiles coming in the door from Chef John and Amy (the general manager). About 5 mins in, Chef John sends us a complimentary house special sashimi salad (not on the menu) that had really fresh, unique flavors. We also started with some of the best garlic edamame that I’ve had in a while. Really enjoyed that!
My girlfriend isn’t a huge fish fan (but a big sake fan!) so she went with the beef teriyaki bowl and I chose the Sashimi + Tempura and you could definitely tell how fresh the fish was by the sweetness of each sashimi and the ‘melt in your mouth’ texture. She thought the beef teriyaki was great too because they used real steak
The entire time, Amy was very helpful and super friendly, always checking up on us. And you can tell she genuinely wants her customers and visitors to leave happy. I’m super happy (and surprised, honestly) that we found this gem of a Sushi spot in the heart of Whittier :)

Like some of the other Unilocalers, we followed John here from Azabu in Uptown where we’ve enjoyed his culinary creations for years. He is the best. Period!
So glad to see he’s got his own place now, and equally happy that he brought his signature dishes with him (and added a few new ones!). Not to be missed: Albacore sashimi and stir-​fried Shishito peppers. And the salmon is about the freshest you’ll find anywhere.
Looking forward to our next visit, especially after they iron out the ‘new restaurant’ kinks and get the service squared away. But they’re already off to a good start.

First my husband and I love sushi! We used to come here before it changed ownership, this was our first time coming here.
Atmosphere– good.
Sushi– the fish was warm on every roll even the sashimi which made it seem not fresh.
Tempura– horrible– almost like the girls didn’t know how to make it.
All in all too expensive for the quality!
Won’t be coming back!

At E Sushi you’ll find great rolls, fresh fish, friendly chefs and cold beer. The sushi and sashimi are great and the rolls are unique and delicious. This is my new favorite place in Whittier.
