Went there a few days ago for the first time since the new owners took over. They’ve really done a great job of renovating the place. New walls, furniture, décor, it’s all very comfy. They’re also committed to great live music which is very cool. They bring in really good tribute bands and some local cover bands as well. Probably the biggest change since it was JT’s is that they’ve now added a full kitchen and serve really good food. The people who work there are really friendly and down to earth and the service was great. This place is way better now. This will definitely be a regular hangout for me.

Nice place to have a drink and relax food was great. Fish tacos and sliders awesome. Recommend to check it out. Tuesday’s is taco Tuesday’s. They have comfy nights and great 80’s cover bands on the weekends.

We were recently in Hawaii and heard that Chef Bev was serving up Loco Moco. The food was awesome and Chef Bev even came out to our table to see if we needed anything else and treated us like family. We will definitely be back!

Worst service and adutude from the manager ever. I was meeting up with some friends so i was trying to save a few tables a customer comes up to me and yells at me that i can’t save tables. So the head waitresses with the blond hair comes over and screams at my friend and i that she is only giving me 5 min. Ok fine whatever fair enough but you don’t need to get in my face and scream at me. So then we ask for a menu and the waitress first forgot to bring it to us then we ask for a menu again and she brings it to us and then disappears for 20 minutes when she finally comes back so we can order he tells us outside now the kitchen is closed what kind of service is that I would not recommend this place. They need to learn customer service

I don’t even know where to start… Perhaps I could start with the fact that it took 30 minutes for the bartender to even look at me, or maybe I could start with the 2 hours I waited for a burger to be served from the kitchen… Or I could also start with the server who responded to my request for a glass of water by rolling his eyes and making me feel like I was ruining his day… But, instead, I think I’ll focus on the icing on the cake. It was the end of my visit at this gem when the women’s bathroom was out of order and I needed to use the potty. I was instructed to use a restroom in the back. So, I went and the door was locked, and so I waited like any other normal person would do. I waited for about 10 minutes. To the point where I almost pee’d in my pants… Which is when I tracked down an employee who was wandering around and asked him about the bathroom in the back. Well, he informed me that you need a key to open it. :/perhaps this is information that could’ve been helpful when I first asked about using it. All in all… My impression of this place is that it is your typical dive, with the expected terrible customer service, and poor levels of food and drinks. It is a dump. I have been here one time in my life and I will never come here again.

Blah. Didnt like the vibe and it is definitely an older crowd here. By older its as others have stated, 50+. I stopped here for one drink with my friend just to check it out as I hadnt been here since way back when it was JTs. JTs was ok. I had many a good time there. Seems like everyone at Mulcaheys know each other. I felt like an outsider being here. Not much fun.

Wish I could put 0 stars. I could not believe how horrible the customer service was. The bartender YVONNE never greeted us and we practically had to jump over the bar waiving our arms like idiots to get her attention. She was too busy socializing with her friends and employees that appeared to be off the clock. When she finally did notice us she got irritated when we ordered our drinks as if that wasn’t her job or something. She then left the bar unattended which a bartender should NEVER do. They may have remodeled and changed their name but what they NEED to invest in is PROFESSIONAL&FRIENDLYEMPLOYEES!!! Never going here again and would advise anybody reading this to stay far, FAR away from this place!!!(As long as their staff stays the same)

First off I haven’t been to this bar since its changed owners/name so coming here I was really hoping to like this place. I was meeting a couple girlfriends there and I was the first to arrive. I sat at the only available seat at the bar waited about 6 minutes for someone acknowledge me. There were 3 people behind the bar and it was definitely not that busy. I decided to move too a different bar stool and sat there for another five minutes before anyone actually asked me if I needed a drink. One of my friends arrived so we ordered some wings. Which btw seemed like the bartender was trying to convince us not to by explaining that their wings weren’t «wings»… Ummm I’m sorry but a chicken wing whether attached to all its pieces or not is still a wing. Tune wings were actually pretty good. They had a somewhat grilled flavor that I did enjoy. Kudos to the chef. Now this is where my real complaint comes in… As I was gonna take a sip of my 3rd cocktail I noticed that there was something floating on my lime. Upon further inspection I noticed that there was a baby cockroach in my drink. If this was a gnat i really wouldn’t have minded as much but this definitely made me not want to be there… As I brought it to the bartenders attention she kind of joked about it. But she handled it well and comped our bill. Not sure is I’ll be returning to this place again…

New owners 7−2015…Both Patrick and Mick Mulcahey, the co-owners, are honorable men, committed to making Mulcahey’s, a Top Notch Gastro Pub/Night Club. They keep updating their policies, procedures and guidelines, to ensure the utmost Customer Satisfaction. The majority of their employees, are customer oriented. The Happy hour crowd has transitioned over the last 6 months to a much safer and much more comfortable atmosphere. The addition of a quality menu, makes Happy Hour, truly Happy. It has kinda of a «Cheers» type feeling to it, where everyone(Owners, Staff and Patrons) help to make everyone, especially newcomers, welcome and feel at home. The Night Club time(after 8PM) has, grown, with more and more people, improved Band and musical offerings, quality and friendly(YES Friendly) security staff. The Bar staff, wait staff and Kitchen staff has also greatly improved, due to better training, management and changing policies and procedures. If it has been a while, since you have been here, you may want to stop by and see for yourself. It is worth your time investment…

Wish I could have left ZERO stars, because I didn’t even get to try the place! I emailed the owners Pat & Mick about a week ago to ask about NYE celebrations. Would there be a cover? A special event? I was told, «open, no cover.» I was super excited to try this new business, especially since I am a new neighbor, and business owner myself. I told several friends to meet us there. Fast forward to today, NYE. A friend said she saw on Facebook that this«gastropub» would be having an exclusive dinner tonight. WHAT?! I called immediately and was told if we got there before 7:30 we would be fine, as the special event was already SOLDOUT. Needless to say we arrived at 6:45. We were not greeted, so I walked up to the bar to ask where we should check in. That’s when I met Pat. He told me I could sit in the couches along the wall, but everything else(empty restaurant) was spoken for. I don’t put false eyelashes and heels on for a couch so I tried to tell him about the email, the phone call and everything else. He basically said, «oh well, we have people coming.» My response as a fellow SMALL business owner is this… I hope, as an establishment, you get your act together. I hope you WELCOME new clientele, and I hope you figure out what HOSPITALITY means. I don’t think you will though, especially if Pat is a part of your business model. Sidenote****if you are under 50, it’s not the spot for you****

The Mulcaheys have done a really great job upgrading this location from the former JT’s. Each visit has been fun. Russ is one of the great new guys behind the bar. I need to get in there early for dinner. I hear the food is excellent.

The bartender is too busy drinking and hanging with friends to wait on anyone She doesn’t leave the bar to attend to the patrons who all have empty drinks. My friend and I had to flag her down by waving our arms and we are sitting at the bar! She brought food we didn’t order. .she overheard my friend say that the dish sounded good. If she had ask us for our order she would have known that although the dish sounded good the next statement was«this doesn’t seem like the right place for Poke». So she brought the dish and it proved to be the wrong place to order… my friend took 2 bites It was horrible! I had a burger that was so over cooked I had to saw through it. Too bad, the place has potential. I give it –5.

My first time here, I could go to four stars based on the music I heard but the service was slow, and I didn’t try any food so no points good or bad there. I’d classify Mulcahey’s as a good dive bar in Whittier with good live music. I’ll be back to try the food.

Great local bar! Lots of great, live bands! Fast service! Really good vibe. Used to come here when it was JTs beach club and the look is upgraded and now there is food! If you’re looking for a good bar in Whittier I highly recommend Mulcaheys!

This place has come along way from JTs! They have stepped it up with the new popular bands and fresher look on the inside. The popcorn is still free and always popping! You can tell they are going for a more younger crowd with the nightclub feel. The bartenders are so friendly and always are willing to suggest some good beers and drinks! Was talking to the owner, Mick, who said the food menu is about the roll out and I can’t wait! This place hasn’t been open for very long so give it a chance and I’m sure you will become a regular! Good choice on the craft brews btw! I am now a regular at this well run establishment!
