Went here for an early Valentine’s Day dinner. Excellent food and service! Our server, Abraham, was very attentive and friendly. The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. Another server(female, also very friendly) brought us some bread with some apple butter spread, which was very good. We started with the deviled eggs. Very good and would definitely recommend these! I got the 10oz. steak with seasonal asparagus. Now I’m definitely not one to eat asparagus, but this was delicious. Steak was excellent and needed NO condiment. Wife had the chicken risotto and said it was excellent as well. Will definitely be coming back. Great job Four Bricks!

The food was so good, I enjoyed the atmosphere, and service was wonderful. The complementary bread came with date butter, and the butter won us over immediately. We followed up with a flat bread(forgot the name, but it had arugula, caramelized onions, and bleu cheese), and for the entrees we had the chicken risotto and a lamb pasta dish(also forgot that dish name). The lamb medallions were cooked perfectly, and so was the chicken. The risotto was delicious. We finished off with the fruit tart and a side of vanilla bean ice cream. They add a layer of fudgey chocolate to the bottom of the ice cream bowl. It’s hardened and it’s infused with fruit… couldn’t put my finger on what fruit because I was so busy not sharing with my fiancé. The waiter was very attendant, and the manager(I believe) went to each table making sure that anybody with a car in a nearby private lot was aware of the parking restrictions, since a tow truck may show up. Highly recommended, and will return.

What a great environment. Had the New York steak and it was wonderful. The best part though was the great service we received.

Amazing dinning experience! Excellent service, good food and nice atmosphere. Complimentary bread and date butter was a plus! Had the New York Steak with white asparagus, it was very delicious. Pio PiCO drink was very refreshing. All the staffs were very welcoming, love the atmosphere! Will definitely come back and dine!

I’m so sad to write this disappointing review. I really wanted to love this place. Came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. A very special night to us. While the Market fish was good, the New York steak was underdone. Not how we ordered, and was supposed to come with a «seasonal side» of sauted zucchini. It was a zucchini GOO masquerading as a side. When we complained, the chef turned into a bit of a diva, saying that’s how it is served today. WHAT?! Sorry, goo is not a side. There were a couple more unforunate things happen which I’ll just let go. After that, our server never came around again. So so beautiful inside… so so sad. UPDATE… just as we were paying, the manager came out and said she would take care of our bill. Thankful for that, but we won’t be back.

Finally, a wonderful restaurant in Whittier with atmosphere and gourmet cuisine. I may not dine at these type of restaurants often but my taste buds know good food. After looking at the menu online I was concerned that my friend and I were not going to find items that we would like. But we both wanted very much to try this new place. We went on a Tues. night at 5:00. There was only a party of about 6 people there when we arrived but the place filled out by the time we left. We were never ignored and our server was most knowledgeable about the menu items and friendly. I had read that everyone seemed to like the asparagus appetizer, so we started with that. Asparagus fried in a light tempura batter and topped with a reduced balsamic sauce and almonds cooked in brown butter. They serve it with a parmesan foam. I’d never had anything like it before. It was so delicious, I could have eaten two orders by myself. We ate every single piece of almond on the plate. Next we had the orange salad with arugula. Also top notch salad with an unbelieveable dressing, a few slices of I think butternut squash and thinly sliced red onions. Everything came together so well. I find that most salads are mundane and unimaginative. This was not the case with this green wonder. Next we had the tagliatelle pasta with lobster and corn. I thought the corn was an odd ingredient to add but it gave the pasta some crunch. Very tasty and filling. I had to take some home. They also served warm dinner rolls and I think it was apple butter. But I could be wrong. It was sweet, nonetheless. We were there a leisurely 2 hours and very much enjoyed the experience. I think the menu changes so don’t go by the online version exclusively. I will be back and next time I will have to try one of the desserts.

I came here with the GF on an impromptu date. The place was not as packed as I would expect it to be for a 7:30PM. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and had an old small city feel to it. I live a mile from this restaurant in the new revamped Uptown Whittier so I can see how this is a nice joint to venture to. We tried the Mac n Cheese, Pomme Frites, and the Halibut fish. The Mac n Cheese had a bacon flavor to it so it was pure bliss! The Fries were skinny fries so that already won me over. The fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned with a great sauce that was not overbearing. We didn’t notice the place being«loud», but we sat next to a loud family with kids(we didn’t think so) who wanted to buy one of our dishes b/c they felt inconsiderate. So basically we had an appitizer comped. That was very nice of them, though we still thought the volume was normal. If you’re in Uptown Whittier and looking for a nice place to go eat I highly recommend Four Bricks.

The ambience is great and the staff were consistently pleasant. We had a good dinner from start to finish. Not fond of the coffee doughnut for dessert. Will definitely come back to try different dishes. Overall, the food were great for the price that we paid.

Four Bricks, Four Bricks, Four Bricks, I really tried to give you several chances. The first time I dined here I had a good experience. The second time, I waited an hour and 45 minutes for my food. I ate the lamb chops and Mac and cheese which were delicious. After eating my meal I forgot about the tortuous, endless wait. The third time. Yes, I came back! Like I said I wanted to give Four Bricks another chance. Unfortunately, it was worse than the first and second experience combined! The place was not packed, there were tons of empty seats. It took 40 minutes to get our drinks and finally get our cheese board. Then TWOHOURS to get our entrees. Not once did anyone walk over and apologize or at least explain what the wait was about. When the food came out we were like starving Vikings so of course we ate! However, The food tasted like it was delivered from a Public school cafeteria. Did they runout of seasonings or salt?! Was there any experience in that kitchen?! I ordered the same thing I got before and it tasted like a totally different dish. We thanked our server. Left a good tip(it wasn’t her fault this place took forever!) We all walked out in shock of our extreme disappointment. The person who chose to eat here kept apologizing as if she were to blame for the poor experience. So now it’s the next morning, and my wife has food poisoning. She cannot stop throwing up and going to the restroom. Whatever was going on the first time I visited, and had a pleasant experience, I hope they can get that back. Dear Four Bricks, three strikes your out!

Wow. This place blew my socks off. Great food and great décor. I am actually shocked at the selection and quality. A friend of mine works there and brought us here while a friend from out of town was here. For my main entrée I had the MRKT Fish which was salmon with marillo sauce, mushrooms. Which was cooked perfectly. And for a side I had to try the Mac and Cheese which was made of Squash, corn, bacon, white cheddar. If your in the area this place is a must!

Oh four bricks, how can you be so pretty and have such disappointing food :(the carrot ravioli was nice, but the portion was way to small for the price. Serve it as a started and lower the price a couple bucks. On the food itself, the raviolis seemed like they were lightly stuffed, there was more of the dough shell than there was filling. For 16 $. I definitely felt just a bit swindled. To top it off, waiting 25 minutes for this and my friends entrée(all I remember is the complaints of how salty his dish was). Our waiter told us the kitchen was a little backed up that night, no idea with what as the place wasn’t full. Service was good at least. I appreciate that they are trying to bring a different level of cuisine to Whittier, but they are out of the honeymoon restaurant phase, the time for stupid problems like super salty food and 25 minute ravioli are over. My opinion. If you like paying lots of money for so-so food, this is the place for you.

Came here and met friends. They were awesome accommodating us when the table was ready but most of the group was 15 minutes out still. They allowed us to go to the bar and the table for 10 sat empty while the party showed up. The drinks were great. Bartender was awesome. The only complaint was that our server had far too many tables. He was trying his best but we had to wait a while for our order, drinks, and food. Everything ordered was great. I will be back.

This place is quality. Lived in Whittier my whole life, and I love how«Whittierian» this place is. The name of the restaurant is so sentimental and the décor has Whittier history. Love it. It has great ambiance. From the outside it doesn’t look big, but once you walk through the doors is pretty spacious. Our table was placed next to the lite up fire place. This place is great for dates and small intimate dinner get togethers. The food was pretty good too. I felt like I was back in Portland, where the food tasted like quality and hipsters made it. We ordered the asparagus and«toast» appetizers, pesto pasta, burger, flatbread, market fish, mash potato and Mac and cheese sides. The best dishes were asparagus for appetizers, burgers for the main dish, and Mac and cheese for the side. The service was spot on. Our server Martin was well versed in the menu and was very polite. Only reason it wasn’t a perfect 5 stars is because the food is a bit overpriced and the food takes a while to come out(But that’s expected from a mom and pop restaurant).

This review is only for the bar. Been wanting to check out a new place in town. I tried their signature cocktails: Paloma — tequila, aperol, grapefruit, lime, soda Paper Plane — bourbon, amaro, aperol, lemon Paloma was really good. Tasted just like a Margerita. The name of the Paper Plane cocktail was cooler than the drink itself. The drink was very tart and my palate tired of the super sweet tart flavor. When I asked for an Old Fashioned, the bartender informed me that they had it on tap and that it tasted the same as a freshly made one. They let me sample it and told me that it was made with Four Roses. I’m not a fan of Four Roses so it didn’t do it for me. I requested a fresh one with Bulleit and it was much better IMO. I’m a bourbon, whisky, and gin type o gal so there were many top shelf choices to keep things interesting for repeat visits. Bartenders were super friendly and knowledgable. They seemed to be moving and working non stop the entire night but we never had to wait long for our drinks I love the exterior and interior of the restaurant. Everything was brand new and clean. The open Kitchen looked so sterile(a very good thing!)

I absolutely loved this place… This is what Whittier has been missing! The food was on point and the drinks we themed to the right taste… I ordered everything recommend by our waiter Kyle and I could not have been giving better advice… Service here was great and the ambience is warm and classy… Diverse and eclectic food with beautiful presentation. P.s … Deviled eggs were delisous and the Demonico steak 100% fiyahh!

Simply great experience! We stopped by less than an hr before closing their kitchen for the evening and they needed to make of one of our sweet potato ravioli from scratch,(which if we knew that was the case, we didn’t mind ordering a different dish) thy gave us a comp beet salad and a dessert– Thank you! We where full by the time the ravioli came out(and didn’t wait long) but we did devoured it all since it was all so delicious! Thy also have a mixologist(our drinks where spectacular) and a cute bar, open kitchen where the restarunt space is set up like a home, its so lovely! Menu is a vintage book and i just fell in love with this place… a gem in whittier!

Great cocktails! Came here opening night and ordered several dishes, many cocktails, and some wine. I will definitely come back and support this restaurant once it finds it’s groove. That said, the food was flavorful, entrees were on the smaller side, and the standouts were the cocktails. We ordered flatbread, onion soup, fish, fries, mac and cheese, chicken and fauxsotto(not a fan of that name), and several cocktails. They were apologetic for the wait so they did offer us the carrot ravioli, lobster ravioli, and date butter, pesto, goat cheese toast as a peace offering, so that was really nice. On top of that, our waiter could not have been nicer. He made the whole experience very enjoyable and kept his sense of humor throughout the duration of our dinner. And trust me, it was a long time. Overall, I will return. I will give it some time, but I will return. Great addition to Whittier!

It seems this establishment had a nice start on Unilocal due to their«family and friends» night. It was this 5 star rating which had us showing up on the night of grand opening. Four Bricks has a nice story behind the name and some cool décor(love the the menu is presented). Two of us ordered the surf & turf($ 26) and one ordered the carrot ravioli($ 16). While it did not appear to be busy, our tables’ 3 entrees took about 30 minutes to come out. On first impression, the dishes are nicely plated, however the portions are small(and no, it doesn’t take an overweight person to point that out). My New York steak(~4oz cut), ordered medium rare, came out medium well and was room temperature. It was served with«lobster butter» which is typically served melted, in a dipping cup, however it looked and tasted just like a slice of cold butter laid on top of the steak. The fish was also room temperature and was served in squid ink. Squid ink may sound fancy, but it offers very little flavor other than making your food salty. Ultimately, this dish is not worth ordering as it just tastes like something anyone could make at home. The carrot ravioli would make a nice $ 8 starter, but at $ 16, it looks pretty pathetic once placed in front of you. My girlfriend who had ordered the dish said it was«okay», but noted that the filling to dough ratio was off. If you look at my photos, you can see that it is pretty flat. I had two bites and I also shared the same sentiment. It tastes like carrot flavored dough. I mean, that’s exactly what it is, but I guess I was expecting more. Finally, the two girls ordered dessert(Baked Yam with Vanilla Ice Cream). Ironically, this dish had a pretty large portion. I wouldn’t doubt it if they used an entire yam. Unfortunately, they only put a small scoop of ice cream on top, so you’re left trying to finish pure yam by itself. I guess that’s how you’re supposed to get full here… Service was good, and our waiter was well compensated. Bonus star for that. I’ll let them iron out their kinks and then try it again in a few months. For now, there are too many great food establishments in Uptown Whittier to be throwing my dollars here.
