This is more of a warning than a review. This salon is just one of a handful of businesses in the venue known as The Mission Square. My girlfriend’s family and I held a party at the restaurant neighboring the salon just a couple of weeks ago. We had rented candelabras and other decorations for the party. At the end of the party we had cleaned up and were assured by the restaurant owner that we could leave our decorations and other party items all safely in one spot. Upon arrival the next morning to pick them up, we were missing 4 of the 5 candelabras; which I assure you were not cheap. I had noticed that there was a lone table set up with one of the missing candelabras and some of our own candles in the small courtyard adjacent to the salon. Thinking it was weird that this was setup, we had asked the salon if they knew anything about this. They denied knowing anything. We asked the restaurant owner if he could ask them, and he came out with two more of the candelabras. Unbelievable. The salon workers tried to justify taking the candelabras by saying they were«decorating for Halloween». So that means you just take something that’s not yours? And in the process tarnish the reputation of the restaurant owner in the process? Again, unbelievable. To sum it up, it was a bit suspicious how the salon workers became so defensive upon us confronting them about the missing items. Items that turned up in their possession. We still never had the 5th candelabra returned. The restaurant owner, Fred, was great throughout the whole situation and deserves better than what his neighbors offer. As for this salon… noy flat out accusing them of stealing all 4 candelabras… but exercise caution with personal belongings or party décor if you hold an event with Fred, especially since the holidays have arrived; they may be looking out for new decorations.

This review is for Emily at the Mango Salon and Spa — after Emily owning her own shop I followed her here to this salon. It took me awhile to write this Unilocal review as every time I think of Emily it brings a smile to my face — the only person I let touch my hair is Emily. Emily helped me get my confidence back and she always makes me feel beautiful as soon as she is finished with either a cut, color, straightening perm and or blow out — I get all of these services from Emily and only Emily! She is very accessible and always accommodates my busy schedule. They say there is always that one hair dresser who you can count on through curly through straight, to short, to long, and that is Emily. She is the only person who makes me feel beautiful but she has also become a great ear to lean on. Thank you SO much Emily for the countless advice as I sit in your chair and for always being the sweet heart that you are! THANKYOU!!!

If you want quality and honesty Emily is the finest hair stylist/color expert you can find. I have gone to stylists for over 30 years and after finding Emily 7 years ago I can honestly say my hair has never looked and felt so good.

Emily did an amazing job on my hair. She took her time blowdrying and straightening my hair. Even asked if I was thirsty. If you are looking into getting a blowout I recommend you ask for Emily you won’t be disappointed

Emily has moved to this location from Crystal Nail. This location is much better than the last location. Place is very clean, the outdoor patio is very relaxing and the people there are super friendly. Will definitely be going here from this point forward. Thank you

After going to Mango again 2 years later I have to update and say that I was not pleased with my latest visit. I think all the staff has probably changed and all I know is that the guy that worked on me was not on top of his game. I came in for a simple hair cut and style. I have long hair, so I definitely expected to pay more. He quoted me $ 80! But he knew in advance that I had a coupon, so of course he hiked up the price. Ridiculous. Their website has a price of $ 35 and up for this service, and long hair should only really be maybe $ 55 to $ 65, not $ 80! Never again. IF I had gotten an out-of-this-world hair cut, then maybe I wouldn’t be complaining, but the price was just the beginning. I was left in my chair with no explanation about 7 or 8 times. He would just walk away to who knows where. At one point I think he left to go take a bite of his lunch. Rude. In addition to that the communication itself about the hair cut and style was nil. I asked for long layers all the way around, but when he was almost finished with the cut I realized he had not touched the front of my hair — or rather the layers that would frame my face. I had to remind him of this. And then he made like two cuts and was done. I was not happy with my front«layers» at all. By that point I didn’t say anything because I just wanted to be done. He then started blow drying my hair. He never once asked how I wanted it styled, or how I usually styled it or parted it or anything. If he had asked I would have been able to tell him that I usually part it in the middle and I use a curling iron after blow drying, which is what I prefer. But he proceeded to blow dry it AND style it with a big round brush. Wasn’t this something people did in the 90’s? At the end he finished with a zig zag part!!! Again, the 90’s are calling. I had to go home and completely re-style my hair. Basically the only thing the cut was semi good for was to get rid of my dry ends. Also the stylist smelled of cigarette smoke, which is not very appealing when someone is that close to you working on your hair. I can’t recommend this salon and I would suggest much better open communication with the client about what he or she wants. And hiking up the price was just not cool.

I was a loyal client to Liz for over 2 years. I followed her from her previous location. I went out of my way to this salon because I liked the way she did my hair. The past year in a half, this salon went to her head. Strike #1: She showed up late & then rushed me & gave me a different color then what I had asked for. I gave her a second chance and the same thing. Orange looking hair and over 45minutes late again! Plus the 3+ hours it takes her for highlights & color. Then she hands you off to her assistance because she has another client! Strike#2: She made fun of other clients in front of me. Talked about her personal life with her male assistant. Gossiping about the other hair stylists & owner. It was like getting my hair done with children. Strike#3: She had the tendency of doubled booking. I had enough when she ignored me & pretended was my fault. Never again, do not go here. These people are snobby! They look at you up & down when you walk through the doors. Not worth spending 5+ hours for color & highlights!
