The Barton location does NOT serve coffee. They are HQ and a printing office. The staff was very nice and helpful. They directed us to a place that serves their coffee. A local gift shop called Local Fixtures. We are heading there now so…

I’d like to preface the review with the following statement: I am not a coffee pro, though I do thoroughly enjoy a well prepared cup of coffee. I’m also not a chemist, but have been exposed to enough of the subject to control for certain errors. I am a Whittier local, but I work and school in the San Gabriel Valley, frequenting Jones, Philz and Holy Grounds due to ease of access and taste preference. I was elated to learn that there was a roaster local to me. So, I placed my first order, though it is not your typical coffee operation. I would like to note that my phone contact with the office was very pleasant, though the customer service schedule seems to be random at best. Which I have no qualms with, in fact all I care about is procuring delicious coffee that I can pick up locally. The pick up of the coffee was easy once I was given the go ahead for pick up. Which was drive to the location, walk in the door, confirm identity to online order slip, and take my fragrant bag of coffee home. My first taste was the cold brew which I used the recommended 2:1 ratio preparation with my non lab grade tools(though they are reliable and close to true measures). The 2:1 ratio produced a diluted solution, which I compensated by adding 0.5 oz until taste was approximately close to what I have had at other roasters. I finally reached an additional 1.5 ounces to obtain a full coffee taste and coincidently a much less transparent solution. This could be due to many circumstances that would produce a less concentrated solution, but not a big deal to me if this is an outlying sample. I won’t know until I repurchase. Which I will, it was rather tasty. Not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s a top 5 and it’s local, but kind of pricy. Especially given that it took more than the stated 4 oz to produce the final solution. As for the beans, I ordered the Tanzania Peaberry which is listed at 13 oz on the website but the bag says 12oz which isn’t that big of a deal 7.7% difference. When I under beans for the first time I usually like to get pre ground, despite having a hand and electric burr mill at home. Why? It shows me the businesses attention to detail. With most operations the grind is usually uniform, as was the case with those I obtained from Solid. However, solid was has a better size than most other locations I’ve been to when I request the«pour over» grind, most places go a little small for my liking. It should be noted that in my experience as operations get larger or start doing more volume details like this tend to get lost in the business. I’ll add this component later. The taste and and roast was true to profile listed on the web site. Truth be told, it was very good. It was on the lighter side of the medium spectrum. Which I like very much. Though the cost is a little high in comparison to other medium light roasts of similar quality and profile. Considering that you get more else where for similar cost. I ADVISEYOUNOTTODAREADDANYTHINGTOTHISCOFFEEITSPERFECTBLACK, if anything it’s your fault if it comes out needing anything for taste. The big question is would I recommend you to come here? Yes. Will I be returning? Yes. Did I find a complete replacement for all the other shops I frequent? No. But this place will definitely be in the rotation. I especially like the online order pick up process. No douche bag hipster baristas to deal with, like some coffee shops I have come across. Update, the first pour over didn’t have a full bloom may have been due to the residue from the grinder used being at the bottom of the bag. However, every pour since has produced a very aromatic and full bloom. I normally use 62g of grind per liter of twice boiled water.

I was in Local Fixture supporting small business Saturday and I wanted to give Solid another chance. For me, not having the date of when it was roasted is a big no no. I also asked the employee and they said, they got the shipment in this week. Even if they knew when the shipment came in, I rather know the date it was roasted on. I’m a firm believer of the degas period and the peak consumption and all that yada yada coffee snobs care about. This is important because if I still have half a bag left and I can’t consume it all within two weeks, I’m going to make cold brews with them, so I’m not wasting anything. Local Fixture is the best store outside of LA, and I get that they’re supporting a local roaster but I wish they had more options of other roasters for me choose from.

Love Solid Coffee, but they are remodeling their coffee bar at the retail location on Barton St. Was told it will take 3 – 5 months.

Saw Solid at Artisanal LA over the weekend. Doing some shopping and wanted a coffee, we came across their booth and decided on a cold brew. It was smooth but the flavors were muted. I would say average done cold brew. The crew was very friendly and efficient. :)

Solid coffee does cold brew excellently. It wasn’t bitter or acidic. Perfect balance of bold flavor and smooth texture. Most people, myself included, find that it’s so smooth that you don’t need to add sugar or creamer to it. I highly recommend their products to all my friends. Get your cold brew, or freshly roasted whole beans here. No BS. Just great coffee.

I. LOVE. KRISTINE. Master Roaster indeed. :) She is the head honcho in the roasting deparrtment and is amazing at what she does. Not to mention very fun and pretty! I first encountered Solid at a CMYE in Whittier and fell in love with their nitro coffee. I may not be a huge fan of nitro ice cream but man nitro coffee –SIGNMEUP! I love how it tingles on my tongue haha. Although they now have a small area for tasting, this is not the spot you bring your laptop and stay for 4 hours mooching off the free Wi-Fi. As you’ll notice once you walk in, Solid isn’t only just roasting coffee, they’ve got multiple businesses going and everyone is always doing something. You can also buy bags of the variety of their roasts while you’re tasting. One stop shop. But first, coffee. ;) don’t forget to check in & claim your free cup of coffee!

Had my first break thru with coffee! Justin & Kristine were super helpful to walk me thru the nuances of a premium roast. Super fun & tasty! I recommend the Brazilian via pour-over or cold brew.

I am kind of a snob when it comes to iced coffee, and I’m always mad at Starbucks and those other giant coffee brands for watering everything down and putting a crapload of sugar in. Sooooo, imagine my curiosity when I saw the Solid Coffee Roasters booth at a K-Town Night Market! It helped a lot that they had this one really hot tatted guy up front chatting it up with all the potential customers, so after being coaxed to try their signature cold brew, I was hooked. I saw them again at the OC Night Market, then I decided to stop stalking their booth and actually order directly from them. Anyway, I’m a fan. Keep doing what you’re doing, guys!

Seriously an incredible cup of coffee, I’m pretty much one of the most picky coffee drinkers out there and I was skeptical about the other reviews on here. I went down to the place where they were selling the coffee and to my surprise the coffee shop was actually kind of like a factory; it was super neat. Don’t be fooled because it’s in a warehouse but that doesn’t mean that the coffee is bad. It’s actually the best cup of iced coffee I’ve literally ever had; it wasn’t very acidic, the caffeine boost was higher than expected, and the beantender was incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely going back for more!

Solid Coffee Roaster !!! How did I not come here any sooner ?? But so glad I found this unique and exceptionally amazing coffee house. The staff here are not only wonderful and very friendly, but they really know their coffee’s and how to bring out the best flavor from their unique and flavorful coffee beans. Having known that I would be at the baseball field early in the morning, I really needed a good wake me up and their coffee did just that without making me feel jittery. Great tasting, bold yet smooth coffee, will definitely keep me coming back to this place for sure.

Solid Coffee Roasters is great. They give so much care to the roasting, flavor comes first! They also source their coffees directly from the growers, and get very high quality beans. Overall this is a company that shows a lot of care to all the different aspects of the coffee process. I love supporting this kind of passion!

The staff is nothing short of AMAZING! They came out and showcased their pour overs at the LA Asian Film Festival, not once, but 3 times and it was a huge success everytime! The staff was professional and polite as well as arrived early and was ready to go every time! Kristine was the perfection! We couldn’t have had our events without them! We LOVE Solid Coffee Roasters!

I’m not exactly what you might call a coffee snob, but I have drank enough good, high-quality coffee in my time to know what makes a coffee blend great. And these guys have one the best House Blends I’ve ever had, and considering I live in LA, that’s saying a lot. The blend is made with the highest quality beans from Brazil, Indonesia, and El Salvador, and is a perfect balance of strength, robustness, and«solid» flavor. See what I did there? A 16oz. cup of this iced coffee packs enough of a punch to keep you hyper for a few hours, but not enough to give you a case of the jitters. I do drink coffee regularly, though, so drink with caution if you’re not a coffee lover like some of us. Stir in some of your favorite sweetener or coffee creamer and you have the perfect latte. It’s freakishly delicious, either way.

I love the roasting style and beans they’ve sources from Ethiopia and Columbia for my espresso drinks. Then the House Blend for my pour over cups. Do a SOLID and fancy some coffee!

The team at SOLID Coffee Roasters have changed my world! They’ve educated and introduced me to a world of beautifully roasted premium single origin coffee beans. Who knew what a difference freshly roasted beans and the right brewing technique could do to create such a great cup of coffee? There’s only one problem now… I’ve become a coffee snob.
