I haven’t written a review in a while but after experiencing this place I kinda felt forced to. Let’s start by this place was very dirty. The table was a mess, I think the cook’s family was hanging out there. When I went to order and I’m not joking here, my cashier was a 5 year old. I received my food and that was horrible too. There isn’t a lot of ways to mess up a taco but they found it. The tortillas were soggy and kept breaking apart. The meat tasted like reheats, the salsa was stale and bland. Overall if you are looking for good tacos in Whittier this isn’t the place

This place has pretty decent Mexican food besides the fact that their stingy with their meat. The Pastor Nachos are pretty good, but don’t expect much meat and that they charge you for sour cream.

This place isn’t as good at all. The place is really hot! The size and portion of the tacos are comical! They barely put enough meat to call it a taco! As far as the quality of the meat, it’s gross. The hot sauce is not even hot. And they are very stingy with cilantro and onions. I will not go back.

Food was standard but horrible service. The lady behind the counter was rude from the start. Latter I found out from another customer that she«didn’t like gringos» because I didn’t order in Spanish. Definitely not coming back again.

Good food. Open late. Friendly service. Try the sopes! Tacos are small but damn tasty.

My friend and I came to Whittier to buy some music gear and saw this place. The outside looked shitty, so we weren’t expecting much, but we thought we’d try it anyway. We went inside and sure enough, the inside was shitty too. We ordered a couple burritos… and man oh man, they rock. Simple, straightforward, but damn good. We forgot to get chips with our burritos so we went back to the counter to place our order. The chips were taking a while so we asked what the hold up was. Turns out they were making them fresh. Delicious, piping hot chips? What a treat. Don’t know that I’ll be back in Whittier for a while, but if I find myself here again I’ll definitely be visiting this ugly restaurant again.

Came here today to try the tacos: asada(2), lengua(1) and al pastor(1) to be exact, with the intention of comparing them to La Victoria Taqueria. I’m gonna make this short. Me being originally from the D.F. I had high hopes for Tacos El Chilangos, but I have to be honest and say La Victoria has wayyyy better lengua and al pastor. The carne asada is about the same with the exception that Tacos El Chilangos carne asada has a similar taste to King Taco so if you like King Taco carne asada you may not be disappointed. Let it be known that the day cook at La Victoria is from the D.F. so there’s that. All this being said, their food isn’t bad just not as good as La Victoria down the street.

Came here earlier in the morning, we order some tacos of asada and pastor, they where ok, not the best tacos I’ve had but they had some flavor, we also had some horchatas, the water was a little too sweet, and we paid with a debit card, what I didnt like was that when I went to get a refill wich was 65 cents i paid with a 20.00 dollar bill since i didnt have anything smaller, the lady started complaining that I was going to take all her change and was giving me this looks that I didnt like, wich made my experience there, not wanting to go eat there anymore.

I used to come here all the time in high school. I love their sopes and burritos. The cooks were always so nice and made it a fun environment coming in to eat here. The place is really small inside and there is not much seating. It is in a small parking area too so it can be a tight squeeze. I have been coming here more and the staff is different from before but thats because its been years. The food is still good but a little greasy on some items. I do feel they up’d their pricing a little too much for the food you get. Their tacos are bomb. I will continue to come here. Best time to come is when you have been out dancing with a couple drinks because thats when Mexican food tastes the best! Ha :)

Food was ok. Nothing great or special. Meats had no flavor and we had asada, al pastor, chicken and carintas– wasnt inpressed with any. However their mulitas are pretty good. That was the only good thing:(really wanted to like this place.

Wall in the hole, but food is amazing! Ordered shrimp and fish taco, true authentic and probably one of the best tacos I’ve ever had! Owner is super nice, hooked me up with grilled onion, and grilled hot pepper too :)

Tacos El Chilango was THESPOT for after concert grubbing, late night. It used to be open late(not so much anymore), and we’d scarf down as many of their tacos as we could. In my early days, tacos there were only $.60 each, not sure what they’ve gone up to now. The Asada is the way to go, and the Carnitas is also very good. If I am not in the taco mood, I get their Sopes or Nachos, with either Asada or Carnitas(I do not deviate). I haven’t been in some months, and don’t go often, but every once in a while I get the Chilango cravings, as they come along with a lot of good memories.

been passing by this place for years and finally decided to stop to cure my taco craving. I played it safe and ordered a couple of carne asada tacos. the tacos were fine. as good as any other taco joint. tacos cost .95 each. Meat in the tacos was ok. your basic carne asada meat. The salsa was pretty spicy. If you dont like your tacos too hot ask for the salsa on the side or dont put any on it. I should have added salsa when I got home as it was a little too spicy for me. overall a decent place for tacos if you live in the neighborhood. Still prefer King Taco.

I’m glad this little taco joint has survived an entire decade. Every time I see this place, I whisper a little«oh hey that place» to myself. This establishment is not cramped but definitely super-tiny, and the best way to describe its look is dilapidated, run-down, and harrowed. But what’s good about this place: tacos. In fact, for nearly 10 years, it’s all I’ve ever eaten. My only deviation was getting chicken one time instead of beef. Mistake? Mistake. The quality has never changed, at least, until the economic downturn as of late. The tacos feel and taste just a tad sparser. Tacos El Chilango is hardly recommendable, but it isn’t terrible. I still crave those foil-wrapped, sauce-laden tacos with a side of jalapenos once in a blue moon.

Well, in case you haven’t heard, there’s this chick called Octomom, and she happens to live in the same city as me. As a matter-of-fact, she lives 2 small streets away from me. From the ghetto bird buzzing around and shining a spotlight on her place at 1 am to my friends wittily calling me Octo-dad, I’m starting to get a little peeved at this nitwit. At least she(and her football team) is moving into a nice, new house in Guada-La-Habra. Her being gone will allow me to eat in peace at places like Tacos El Chilango. Open late, TEL is basically a roach coach, only no coach(no roach… at least I’ve never seen any), just a suite in a little strip mall on the X of Painter and Lambert. Tacos, tortas, burritos, etc… all types of meats. The other night I bought 5 tacos de lengua and 5 de carnitas for under 10 bones(cash only). Put this on your radar for late-night, post-boozing grinds. Good riddance, Octo-dummy.
