Just your average local burger joint. It has changed hands and as all places evolve there are some differences. Burgers are different but still good and you can put jalapeños all over the cheesy patties! Onion rings were YUMMM Yummmmmmmmmmy! NO beer just pop! They have tons of options with the burgers adding bacon to hotdogs open face too! Give it a chance and see if you like the new flav.

Terrible service, we waited 30 minutes for our food. When I inquired about it the cashier was VERY rude so I got my money back and left. The food here is ok, but not worth the wait and definitely not worth putting up with rude comments from the staff.

Love this place! One of my favorite burgers ever, the #7 with a hot link is incredible. A bit spicy but delicious. Good fries too, which isn’t always guaranteed at a burger place. Highly recommended local spot

My husband and I decided to give this place a try since it was close by our house and were new to the Wichita area. Just moved here from KC and we both agreed this was the best burger we’ve ever eaten. Tasted better than a home grilled charcoal burger. Will definitely be back! And the fries were pretty darn good too.

Bill’s Charcoal Grill has changed since last being reviewed in The Eagle over 25 years ago. The neighborhood surrounding it has changed, too: it began as a small restaurant where Bill Wellshear could apply the skills he learned working in Oklahoma, offering little more than a few burgers and a chicken sandwich. Today it’s a relic of NoMar that offers hamburguesas alongside chicken fried steak, parrillada, and a variety of caballero dishes. But it’s the burger that remains the focal point, thanks to the unique combination of Hispanic influence and the grill which gives the restaurant its name. No matter how many times the restaurant changes hands, you can’t take away the grill. It imparts a deep, smoky flavor into the burger, leaving visible marks on the patty, and is totally unlike the griddled burgers that are found at most other restaurants in Wichita. If you want toppings, there’s a self-service bar by the soda fountain, but it’s served to you sans accoutrements. Which isn’t to say you can’t spruce up your burger to make it more interesting — this was the first restaurant at which I had a frankfurter used as a burger topping. This exercise in excess combined with the contrast between the firm sausage and tender burger patty is exciting, and isn’t found at many restaurants. That you can add avocado and grilled onions on top of all of that is almost too much. Fries aren’t the same freshly-sliced potatoes that were once offered, but given Wichita’s track record with fries, it can be considered successful that the starch is crisp, fluffy, and well-salted. It may not belong to Bill anymore, but Bill’s Charcoal Grill still offers a standout product among many of Wichita’s legacy burger restaurants. Part of that is thanks to a continued commitment to quality: part of me likes being asked how I’d like my burger cooked, even if I know the lb patty is much too thin to come close to my desired doneness. Another part is the unique cooking method which helps separate Bill’s from the majority of other Wichita burgers. Combined with the Hispanic flavor imparted by the neighborhood, you have a burger that’s a cut above the rest.

This place is pretty damn good. Unassuming as a proper burger place should be, it definitely comes through in the quality. They got a unique menu that will let you come back to try new stuff out. If you ever catch yourself in the barrio, check this place out. It’s easily the best burger place on the north side.

Been going here for near 20 years due to it being close to my work. Absolutely the best burgers I’ve ever tried. The chicken breast sandwich is amazing also. The décor has changed for the better over the years. Pretty clean for a burger joint. It does get pretty busy during lunchtime but is to be expected for a great restaurant. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Expensive for a burger joint, not very good either. And OMG the TV was sooo loud, no way to have a relaxing lunch. I won’t be back

New owners but still great burgers. Been going here for several years. Nice little joint, sometimes packed but still worth it. Try the number 7

This place used to be a pretty good place to eat. But it changed owners sometime back and it is not what it used to be. They painted the inside an ugly color which change the old time character of the place. They got rid of the good crinkle cut fries and the service is slow.

I stopped in shortly before closing on a Saturday night. The single staff person was friendly and answered questions I had about the menu, although the menu is pretty simple. They offered standards like burgers, hot dogs, and chicken strips. The unusual is the hot link sandwich, and the hot link cheeseburger. I chose to go with an open faced chili double cheeseburger. They will actually ask you how done you would like your burger, so I got mine medium-well. The burgers were actually cooked a perfect medium well, the chili was tasty, and the fries were crisp. I wish they had a few more options on their menu, but it’s ok to only do a few simple things if you do them very well.

I had driven past this place many many times and only just recently stopped in. They have a decent sized dining room so it can accommodate a lunch crowd. They have a whole side of the menu devoted to hotlink sandwiches, so I couldn’t help but get hot links on my cheeseburger. I will say it was amazing, but the burger was so flavorful the hot link, though very good, wasn’t needed. Toasted buns crinkle cut fries a Wichita must have.

The atmosphere here is very nice. It’s out the way so when you walk in it feels like you are in an exclusive club of only locals. The décor is Coop inspired farm house. The burgers are a little on the small size, but the flavor is there. They’ve got your everyday crinkle cut style french fries and offer franks, links, steaks, an more. It’s not my favorite burger in town, but this place is a bonus in a pretty remote part of town. P. S. The smell outside and inside is intoxicating with the grills going full steam ahead. Kudos on the toasted buns, because that is the only way you should serve a bun.

Small out of the way place that is filled with the locals for lunch. You will nearly always find a couple of police cars in the parking lot for lunch. Very good burgers made from fresh ground steak and cooked how you request it. It a small dive of a place but worth a visit for a burger if in the area.
