Here on business — Nothing specifically wrong with this place, it was just meh, you know? We came in right after 11 when the place opened with a group of 7 and were seated pretty much immediately which was nice. The chips and salsa were completely addictive, and I think these were probably the star of the meal. Super thin chips, well salted, and well made salsa as well. For my entrée, I ordered the carnitas chimi, which had a tasty green chili sauce on it. It was very strange to have rice in the chimi along with rice on the plate, so just know that you’re getting a double dose of carbs(plus the chimi shell) when you order this. I didn’t really touch the rest of the plate; there was a thin layer of beans and some shredded/chopped veggies, but it wasn’t anything that looked too appetizing(plus I was full). Overall, I’d go here again I think, but… I’d probably want to try somewhere else.

We hoped to love it or at least enjoy a meal — didn’t happen! Jose Peppers isn’t clean, its filthy — please CLEAN your restaurant. Please CLEAN the grease, food crust and grunge off your menus for starters. Three completely different entrées, burrito meal, Enchilada dinner,& chili Relleno(like eating a leather shrub — and it’s a pepper like the name of the place). none of them were edible, and barely recognizable. It was shocking & sickening a restaurant in this area could be so repulsive. We were so disappointed because we really wanted to love it like I said. Go to Abuelo’s — it’s always good all the time and very clean

Staff seems bored and like they hate their life. flat toned when they speak, no smile, nothing. Food is decent, depending on what you get.

I loved the chips and salsa here. Their cheese and guacamole were also amazing. We had a great server, very attentive kept our large party with full drink the full night. We will definitely be going back!

We were seated rather quickly… so like that! Our waiter’s name was Noah… just like my grand sons name… cool! I asked Noah about the food and I do believe he is a very honest person. We started with the ESPINACACONQUESO& chips. Really good! My husband, Paul had the FAJITASDELTRIO… delish. He loved the skirt steak & peppers but said he need more jalepenos. I ate one of his bacon wrapped shrimp.yummmm. I had the SIGNATURECARNITASCHIMICHANGA. The roasted green chili sauce is awesome. I truely do not like rice in my chimichanga. I guess i didn’t pay enough attention to the listing. Neither I or my husband liked the cilantro rice or the beans… to bland or strong with cilantro or both. The worst part was Corona’s are $ 4.50…wow! Overall…quick service, clean and very polite staff!

Great joint! Shrimp tacos are really good. Beers always cold — they don’t have dos Equis light on tap though, but do have corona light tapped.

Dined at this location last evening while in Wichita on business. I have been going to Jose Pepper’s two Overland Park locations for years and always had great food, drinks and service. This Wichita locations leaves much to be desired. I ordered their famous queso. It came out barely warm and had a unusual consistency compared to what I have had at their other locations. I ordered their steak tacos. At the OP locations the steak is filet mignon. In Wichita skirt steak, at the same price. The tacos were barely warm and the charro beans that came as a side were cold. The service was marginal. I would not recommend Jose Peppers at this location.

Out of everything the salsa and chips are the best! I had the tortilla soup recently, that was very yummy! The staff can be a hit or miss.

Oh man, I’m sorry but I have to slam this place. In the sea of franchises that is, Wichita East side, this spot is unremarkable. I was politely greeted and vectored to the bar. It’s a big horse shoe type with all the mechanicals and stock exposed underneath. The bar was empty except for three in culinary uniform. I don’t know if they worked there and were just getting off their shift, or visiting from another restaurant. I don’t suspect this would be their go-to spot when getting off work, especially if they knew what the food was like. Anyway, Chips and salsa were delivered promptly, so let me start there. I have never had a saltier chip in my 39 years of existence. I mean, corn chips have salt yes, but these didn’t taste like corn chips. They tasted like salt. Holy blood pressure America. The salsa was utterly bland and watery. But the sodium hors d’oeuvres were complimentary so I shouldn’t complain. But I will complain about the tacos. Bland. I got the steak soft tacos which came with orange rice and bean mush. The steak clearly came from a bag. It was chewy and not good. They were served in a cold flour tortilla which just made it feel like cafeteria food. Sysco quality. I didn’t bother finishing the second one.(I never don’t finish tacos. I’m a professional taco eater.) The rice was salty and orange and the re-fried beans were oddly flat. I didn’t eat much of either. I want to say there was something about the cheese too, but I’ll stop. I’m not trying to be Gordon Ramsey, but seriously, I make much better tacos and rice at home and I don’t even use old elpasso. There is one thing though, I must be completely wrong because the place was almost full up except for the bar. But so is EVERY other restaurant, every lunch and dinner, every day on the east side. So either all the people in Jose Peppers were taking crazy pills, addicted to salt, had no where else to eat, or-OR, I’m a taco snob. If you like Mexican food go to Jose Peppers at your own risk of disappointment.

Got dinner to go for the family. The staff was very attentive and friendly while I waited. Fun atmosphere, clean and priced right. The chips were the best! Will go back again and again.

We were looking for a place to have a company lunch and we walked in and were seated right away. That was very good for 20 people. They were not busy on this weekday right at noon, which is bad for them i suppose. Everyone seemed to like their food. I had the Pork tamales. It was spicy like the menu said and it was very good. I didn’t care for the rice and beams that came with it too much though. Not bad, just nothing special. The chips and salsa were good, but we had to share the salsa between every 4 people or so. They did offer everyone a refill of their pop or tea to go which was nice.

First time visiting as we drove through. Decent food, generous portions but salsa had a hair in it. Manager came by to apologize but did nothing except bring new salsa. Not that you expect to comp drinks which we only had tea and water but seriously when a mistake is made like this, comping something can go a longways.

Food is okay, but with all the authentic Mexican restaurants in town I don’t think I’ll go here very often. This is chain food texmex.

Jose Peppers was better than I remember. Perhaps I ordered something odd last time I was here because today my food was delicious. Our server’s name was Sarah(with an H, ew.(Jimmy Fallon reference)), and she was perfectly delightful. We started with espinaca and salsa. The espinaca was typical, but the salsa was delicious. It seemed to have bits of deliciousness(avacado, pineapple, I’m not exactly sure) in it. I ordered the Corona shrimp tacos, which were even more impressive than the salsa. The beer battered shrimp was perfectly cooked and the presentation was colorful and looked delicious. I ate every bite. The only very small issue I had was when the manager came and interrupted our conversation after we finished to check on us. While I know this practice is pretty typical of a manager to do, he literally popped up midsentence and interrupted us. He was very young and couldn’t have been managing for very long, so I let it slide. Overall I was very pleased with our visit, even though I forgot to use our espinaca coupon, which is why we were there in the first place!

We were informed yesterday that all steak is marinated in beer that only the black beans are actually pork free and that the red sauce contains lard as well. This has always been a favorite of ours and everyone there knows us and our diet restrictions, so of course we are completely disappointed.

My wife and I have spent way too much money here. You might say this is our second home, and we live on the west side of town. Both Jose peppers offer the same menu and drinks, but we prefer the layout of the east location and the staff have not changed much over the last few years which is nice when we get to know them. Mike the manager always treats us and every patron first class, and we even had our rehearsal dinner in the great outside patio area. We love the food, drinks, and espinaca. It is more Texmex, and it’s not an expensive joint, but we really enjoy it. Some people have said the food is bland, and I’m no food expert so I won’t try and convince you otherwise but for us the food is good and the staff make it a great place to go. We sit at the bar because it is a large open surface that has great views of the different tv screens, and the bartenders are always on top of us making sure we are taken care of. I could go on forever but I’m gonna just suggest you go check it out. Go during a slower time at least your first time do you can take it all in. If it’s just two of you, sit at the bar. Enjoy!

Really bland and really bad. I have been here a few times over the years with family who wanted to go. The food is flavorless and covered with shredded non-Mexican cheeses. The salsa is not bad for having a strong canned tomato flavor. The meats are dry and unseasoned. Especially the chicken which tastes boiled and is dry as I have ever had. The service has generally been pretty good but tonight we had a server who was pretty bad. She had to come back three times to confirm and double check part of our order. She then brought out one person’s meal but not the other three and said simply that the one entrée had been put in by itself because of her double checking she did on the other entrees and that everyone else’s food would be out in a few minutes. The rest of the order came out almost 10 minutes later forcing the person to wait to eat. She never apologized or even seemed to understand that everyone’s entrees should generally come out together. On top of that there were no drink refills or checking in with us on our meals. Poor service all around. Consistently abysmal food and inconsistent service. I hope I never go back.

Always delicious and our top favorite Mexican food restaurant in the Wichita area. It is the only place that comes close to the Tex Mex I grew up with in Houston, TX. Make sure to get some Espinaca!

I tried the sample platter. It was really nothing special. Mini chimis, mini tostados, mini tacos and two large pieces of poco pollo magnico. The chicken was lean and seasoned with salt and black pepper… that along with the other ingredients and flavors gave this place an On The Border type of taste profile. The service was terrific. I would come back just to try items with chipotle cream or jalapeño cream sauce.
