My mom recommended this place and it was our first time here. This place gets 10 stars!!! Absolutely the best food I’ve had in a long time. We got the buffet and is was completely amazing. We had the lamb(absolutely phenomenol), rice with veggies, cauliflower(spicy and yummy), hummus and this yummy white sauce(I believe it is a cucumber sauce that you dip the lamb in) a beautiful yummy fresh salad, pita bread and for dessert watermelon. The buffet was all you can eat and it was $ 10. and it included a drink! I highly recommend this buffet.

Okra, chicken and hummus was good. Overall it wasnt memorable or amazing as I thought it was going to be. Lunch buffet was different since you cannot serve yourself. I wasn’t really comfortable. Kind of expensive for only a few buffet items.

I always wanted to try Moroccan food and this place seems to be a good option. Their chicken dish seemed the best. I recommend you try it and I think you will be happy with it. The customer service is ok and family feel makes quite a difference to your experience. All the best.

The only reason I’m only giving this place 4 stars is because they were out of what I wanted, but I ended up getting the chicken shwarma and it was phenomenal. Great service, great restaurant, I’ll definitely be back.

Friend recommeneded it to me, kind if a hole-in-the-wall place. I wouldnt of noticed it without someone telling me about it. I tried the Spciy Chicken Tagine, it was actually very good tasting. Probably going to be my go-to dish. it had a good flavors and a slicy level that i coukd appreciate. It came with plenty of bread which went well with the excess spicy sauce from the dish. They have some delicious looking gourmet desserts, but they are pretty pricey($ 2.99 for one). Not worth in my opinion. Other notes: Food portion felt kinda small, but taste was good. Wished water was refilled more often, or at least check on us.

This small, family run restaurant adds a different, fun twist to the well established Mediterranean scene in ICT. Tickets to Morocco are expensive, ya’ll. So stop by here instead for a quick fix;) We came here in hopes of trying the bastilla. As fate would have it though, they don’t have it ready made anymore due to the phyllo dough being so delicate and perhaps the owner only wanting it served fresh. No matter, we had the rest of the menu to choose from. The rundown: Spicy Chicken Tajine– The best dish IMHO, but I like things spicy. I read from other reviews that you had to order rice as a side with the tajines, but they just brought them out to us. The meat wasn’t overcooked too much, and the almonds were a nice touch. I thought it went well with the abundant amount of bread brought out. 7⁄10 Chicken and Raisin Tajine– Almost as good. Not much else to say here. 5⁄10 Lamb Gyro– Not wrapped in a thick pita like you would imagine. Instead, it was served like a platter with the meat on a bed of seasoned romaine bits and a generous side of hummus. The pita was the locally made type from John’s Bakery(?). I don’t like it b/c it’s either served unheated which results in a tough, chewy textures or baked crispy. I prefer my pita thick and fluffy to soak up the olive oil that comes with the hummus. However, the meat was good and went very well with the accompanying tzatziki. 5⁄10 Baba Ganoush– Exactly the same ingredients as hummus except you sub out the chickpea for eggplant. Good 6.5÷10 Cucumber Salad– Refreshing. It went very well with my dish:) 6.5÷10 Baklava– Also pretty good. The owner mentioned that it’s not made in house, which I would expect since this is pretty time intensive to make. I prefer my baklava more moist with honey, but this wasn’t bad 6⁄10 The owner mentioned that we really should try the lamb tajine, and seeing other tables order it, I agree. I’ll have to return for that and the bastilla:) I really do appreciate how this family has brought to Wichita a glimpse of Morrocan culture and recommend Marrakech Café to anyone interested in trying Mediterranean fare with a non-Lebanese bent.

Wow! Great food! Both the cous cous and the rice dishes are delicious. The vegetables are fresh and perfectly cooked and the seasonings were great. I will be back(probably many times!).

Wow… much more than expected. Very nice tea… must try. Chicken dish with peanuts and raisins, well presented and bubbling hot at the table. Only mishap, if you want the bastilla you must order 24 hrs in advance. Will definately try again.

Best food place in town. Everything has a unique flavor and is amazing. My favorite is the beef shawarma on rice. The tea there is amazing too. What I love is that it’s halal. But seriously, great place and friendly staff.

I am so disappointed, the listed hours on Unilocal were wrong, the restaurant closes at 6PM Tuesday through Friday. I arrived at 6:30PM on Wednesday. Saturdays and Sundays they are open till 8. I submitted the changed times. I diverted all the way from I 35 on my drive from Kansas City to Oklahoma City just eat here. Hopefully the hours will be updated so others will not be disappointed. The menu sounded great and the reviews were good.

Several months ago I bought a Groupon to this restaurant and just recently used it during lunch time. My siblings and I decided to try a few different dishes. We ordered Spicy Chicken Tangine, Lamb Gyro, Rice with Lamb, Moroccan bread, and Grape Leaves. We went on a Saturday, so there was no couscous available(only Friday). The lamb was delicious and had great flavor. Spicy Chicken was by far our favorite dish. We didn’t receive our Moroccan bread until we were completely done with our main dishes. It was cold and really thick, almost like it wasn’t cooked all the way through. We decided not to wait for the grape leaves and as we were walking to the register we see the waitress walking with it. The owner apologized and we paid and were on our way. Overall, the food was good, but not worth the price for the portion. Service was lacking in several different areas, however, it’s understandable since it is a small family owned restaurant. It just makes me wonder if every Saturday is the same. Many customers sitting waiting for either a menu or silverware.

There’s been a tremendous amount of work that has been put into Marrakech Café over the past year. At the time of my first visit there was little more than a panini press and hot plate in the makeshift«kitchen», offering basic sandwiches, tea, and zalook. Since then, a full-blown hood and stove has been installed, greatly expanding the menu options. The centerpiece of the restaurant is the tagines. The attractive cooking vessel produces incredibly tender lamb shanks, though aside from a handful of dried pieces of fruit, the inside of that earthenware pot is sparse and underutilized on every day but Friday. It’s filled with couscous on Friday. It would be nice to see some additional vegetables in there, or at least being able to get the couscous every day of the week; it’s a very easy grain to cook. Failing that, you’ll have to remember to order a side of rice. Or you can opt for the rice dish and get the meat placed on top of the rice for you. Tagines aside, there’s plenty of other good things on the menu. The hummus is great, but the eggplant and tomato zalook is more interesting. That, along with the harrira soup, are probably similar to dishes you’ve had before, but different enough to give credit to Moroccan cuisine. I’d say something about the bastilla, but it’s sold out every time I visit. Enough has been said about it by other people. Marrakech Café fits in well among the Egyptian, Turkish, Lebanese, Indian, Thai, Mexican, Italian, Cajun, and burger restaurants that already occupy the 21st and Woodlawn intersection. It provides Wichita’s first taste of Moroccan food with sophisticated execution. It’s refreshing to see a restaurant continue to build and expand on its success.

Wait staff is really nice, lamb tajin is my favorite here. They do run out of cous cous, and they only make it on Fridays for whatever reason. I’m not a huge fan of their tea, it is very sweet to me. Not a big concern to me though. Bastilla is also kind of fun and unique and tastes great. Great price and pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommend this restaurant.

You can always tell a great restaurant when there are lots of locals hanging out inside. The location is a bit tricky, but just know it’s on the back side of the gas station at st & Woodlawn, southwest corner. The inside was clean and simple. We were able to seat ourselves. The woman serving us, I assume one of the owners, was very helpful in answering our questions. We started off with the Eggplant Salad(Zaalouk Salad). I had read another review(on Chain Free Eating’s blog) and they said it was more of a dip. A dip of delicious, gold eggplant. The dip was garnished with damn good pickles, sliced radish, lettuce, cucumber, and a banana pepper. It’s served with generic, yet still delicious soft pita bread. I ordered the halal chicken with meyer lemons and olives. This was served in a tangine. I had quite a lot of chicken and olives. The chicken was mind bogglingly tender. My favorite part was the sauce. I wanted to bathe in that sauce! Make sure to order extra pita or some of the special bread to sop up all the goodness. I will note I had the lunch platter, so all that was included was the chicken. Luckily we had leftover pita from the Zaalouk. My friend had the vegetable tangine with eggplant and a side of the special bread. The special bread was a cross between a pita, naan, and a tortilla. It was thicker than a tortilla, but chewier than naan. It was soft, grilled, and had a nice smoky flavor. We ended the meal with the baklava. Holy shit balls the baklava. It was sticky and sweet and perfectly flaky. I told my friend it would be the perfect thing to have for breakfast every morning! I’ve also heard rumors that they have amazing dinner specials. I can’t wait to come back to try those. If you are looking for great, flavorful, interesting food that is outside the normal chain box, take a trip to Marrakech. You’ll thank me later!

We came for lunch today with a groupon. Please note, there is only a lunch buffet served until 4 pm — can’t order off the menu. For $ 11.95 they had lamb, spicy lamb, grape leaves, rice delicious soup and Falafels, and salad. Salad was served with store bought Italian dressing. Includes a drink. Tea was the weakest I have ever had. We would return to try the dinner menu. Lunch was pretty good but pricy unless you plan on eating your fill of lamb. Décor was plain but clean. Maybe 8 round tables for customers.

We had the lamb tangine, the bastilla, and the zalook. The tangine is lamb shank with almonds and raisins. Pure harmony of savory, spicy, and sweet. The lamb was tender fall off the bones. Others have explained the bastilla and its ingredients. The taste is hard to explain, though it does have a tiny savory sweet breakfasty feel. I loved the taste. The zalook was not really a salad in traditional terms(greens). Perhaps a better taste comparison would be a smooth potato salad. The zalook was good. The bastilla was very good. And the lamb tangine was excellent. The raisins, onions, almonds, and lamb flavors melded perfectly. Customer service was great. The food came quickly. Will be back.
