I’m still not pleased with the quality it provides. Here is the main problem about SpringRo 1) The Springroll isn’t fantastic. It’s just terrible quality meat with a couple of veggies. It never gave the authentic taste a springroll is suppose to have. 2) The Banh Mi is alright. It’s nothing spectacular, it has the same type of meat they put on their bowls and springrolls. Again, not authentic taste whatsoever. 3) The Springbowl is garbage. The quality of the noodles, rice and fried rice is terrible. It doesb’t have any flavor at all. The fried rice still taste like only soy sauce has been cooked in it. 4) The price is ridiculous. It cost about 7 – 10 bucks for a main entre and a drink, while down the street at Phở Cuong you can get better phở and appetizers for about 8 – 12 dollars. My issue with this place is the food isn’t authentic. What makes Vietnamese food so fantastic is the authentic taste it provides and how delicious and healthy it already is. They’re trying to go with a healthier diet but an authentic Vietnamese diet is already healthy. & The other issue is the competition out there. There is NO way a person would come here when they’re craving vietnamese food. Especially the fact that it is in the East side because there’s plenty of good REAL and HEALTHY Vietnamese restaraunts. Never ever coming back again. It’s not worth the money, when you can definitely get a bang for your buck at a better authentic place!

JUST walked in the door… décor nice… not touristy or trying to make me feel like I am on vacation in Asia… SUPER functional and comfortable… prices reasonable looks clean and smells nice… much better layout than tsunami… iced tea very good … WOW… Phở was seasoned perfectly with a very faint anise finish… spring roll was a bit loose and unwieldy but flavor was dead on and overall a very good experience… will be returning… can’t wait to try some other items… highlight of visit was they had fish sauce… just straight… and didn’t need a translator to get some …

I would give 3.5 stars maybe bcz cost is a little high. Phở was pretty good. Could improve on the shaved ice, more condensed milk and fresh fruit. Cant wait to try other menu items soon.

I was excited to try this new Viet spot when I saw it trending on a Unilocal but after my first visit I regret to report that I left disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the food was prepared well enough and the staff was attentive but simply put. the competition is turning out a better product. I would say that if I’m on that particular side of town I would visit this little spot when but I think that if I were really craving Vietnamese I would make the trip across town to one of my regular spots.

We live nearby and this place is one of our favorites! The spring rolls are delicious and fresh, and their bowls are great with fried rice as a base and steak or chicken on top. The owners are so nice and always greet us with friendly smiles and attitudes. We eat here almost weekly! Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

This place is pretty nice. The environment is light and feels trendy. The food is tasty and the vegetables look very fresh. I would recommend ordering the spring bowl with steak. The only reason I didn’t give this a five star is because the food is a little pricy. However, I will come back in the future! Also, if you’re into exotic flavors, this place has green tea shaved ice and smoothies which are hard to come by in Wichita.

I My friends and I went here on Sunday and I have to say the meat in my steak phở was tender and delicious. It was a pretty big bowl for $ 9.00 and the broth mixed with a little hoisin and chili sauce was something I needed on a cold night. I had the coffee as well and it was a little sweeter than the typical vietnamese coffee you would get at other places but it balanced out the typical bitterness you get in vietnamese coffee. The staff was very warm and welcoming in that they took orders promptly and that they fully answered any questions we had about their menu. I wish them nothing but the best and I look forward to visiting them again.

It’s a neat idea — a modern, fast-casual take on Vietnamese food. The name of the place perfectly describes what they’re shooting for. The food doesn’t live up to the expectation. I’ll begin with the wonton soup. There’s a few Chinese appetizers on the menu, perhaps as a means of appeasing people who hear spring roll and don’t realize there’s a difference between that and an egg roll. Think of the wonton soup you’ve had in any crappy Chinese restaurant, and the problems associated with it. How might you make the soup better? Would you add big overcooked pieces of macaroni to it? That SpringRo would break from tradition, but only to go so far as to add elbow noodles to the otherwise boring cocktail of dumplings floating in chicken broth is mind-blowing. It contributes nothing. The core of the menu takes similar ingredients and uses them in one of four Vietnamese dishes: spring roll, bahn mi, a vermicelli bowl, and phở. The vermicelli bowl is the one that isn’t really Vietnamese, and is overall the most successful because of it — it’s just a bowl of noodles topped with lettuce, cucumber, daikon, carrot, chiles, your desired protein, and some chopped peanuts. It comes with a chili sauce you can mix in. It communicates the Asian-y flavors but you still feel like it’s sorta healthy. I would order it again. The bahn mi opts for a similarly healthy interpretation, replacing the ham and pork roll with… spinach. It’s not as good as the real thing, but you feel a little better about yourself after eating it. The phở is a repurposing of other ingredients on the menu — the chicken broth from the wonton soup, the vermicelli again, my desired meats, and they throw some bean sprouts and onions in there. The problem here is that this dish makes the same kind of sacrifices as the bahn mi and bowl, but without any benefit — it’s not«healthier», and it’s not quicker. They added it to the menu knowing full well that Phở Cuong is a quarter mile down the road and offering a much more developed and complex product. In all cases the weakest component was the meat. The chicken has no sort of seasoning or searing, so it’s just bland. The thin strips of beef feel cheap and processed. The shrimp was chewy. The one thing that SpringRo offers that is entirely unique is the shaved ice. It’s bao bing, or Taiwanese shaved ice. It’s produced using a special machine that shaves it thinly, producing a pillowy spider web-like texture, then topped with sweetened condensed milk, mango syrup, and various fruits. The mountain of ice that’s presented to you is eye-catching and delightful. SpringRo didn’t come up with the concept(and it only barely fits in with the rest of their menu); they told me that they were visiting a restaurant in Houston that offered it, and decided to bring it to Wichita. It’s a little incongruous that they would so astutely recognize the market potential for this one product when the rest of the menu is so derivative. There’s a good concept hidden somewhere in SpringRo: begin with the traditional Vietnamese dishes and use them as inspiration for modern and creative interpretations. The restaurant gets marks for presentation, but the menu isn’t up to the task.

I ordered a steak spring roll. Their spring rolls tasted different then a traditional Vietnamese Roll. The tastes were more along the lines of a roast beef sandwich. With rice paper of course. Very tasty just not traditional. Do not look for Vietnamese flavors. Excellent Sandwich. Bread crispy chewy with bahn mi taste. Loved the green tea frozen drink.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place on my lunch break. When we first walked in, the décor and atmosphere was modern and very clean. Service was good but the wait for our food was a bit long and it wasn’t busy at all. We ordered the beef vermicelli noodle bowl and a banh mi with pork. The pork was lacking that smoked charcoal flavor you’re suppose to taste when you eat it. Also, the price for this sandwich was way too much for a typical Vietnamese sandwich. It was $ 5.65 and usually at other Vietnamese restaurants it’s roughly about $ 3.95-$ 4.50. My boyfriend’s beef bowl was dry and bland. He pretty much drenched it in nuoc mam(fish sauce). We probably won’t eat here again.

Not awful, not great. The spring rolls were pretty big. My chicken bowl wasnt anything to write home about, my husband tried some and complained about the lack of flavor. I just drowned it in sriracha. My strawberry lemonade was just. weird tasting. my husband did enjoy his frozen drink.

For a quick and healthy vietnamese lunch i would come to this place regularly. Quality and tasty foods. Clean and plenty places to sit, eat, then hit the books or work. And have you seen the cute owner?

Finally!!! A healthier Vietnamese joint. I was a bit weary to try it after reading the review above, but I thought I should check it out for myself since I was in that side of town prior to work. I got a grilled chicken Vietnamese sandwich and an avocado smoothie for lunch and a grilled beef and shrimp noodle bowl for dinner later. Best Viet sandwich I have ever had in Wichita, OKC and Dallas! Bread was soft and crispy like how a Viet sandwich should be. Portion was good. As a Vietnamese person, I am quite particular with how authentic Viet food should be, but at the same time, I know how ‘fatty’ and unhealthy we have a tendency to make our food. SpringRo uses fresh greens and lean meat. Maybe this is why the previous reviewer thought it was some sort of processed meat. I was taken by surprise with spinach in my sandwich, but it is great and healthy addition! :-D I spoke with the young lady who may have been the owner or one of the owners, who told me this their very first location and have only been opened for a week or so. I can tell she was very eager to listen to my comments and suggestions. I strongly believe once they have all the kinks ironed out, they will be phenomenal. I hope they will open a location on the west side, closer to my home and work soon.(Hint, hint) Some suggestions I will make is to ask for double sauce(2 containers) with your noodle bowl and try the fruit jelly with your smoothies. It was delicious in my avocado smoothie! ;-)

I had high(perhaps too high) expectations for this new restaurant. The previous place(Tsunami?) was a «tried once, never again» kinda place. Unfortunately, Spring Ro will be the same for me. On a positive note — the nice modern sign out front, the concept, the location, and I suppose the staff. They were friendly to greet me, but that was about the end of it. Why I won’t be back: 1) The price. I paid close to $ 20 for a bowl, three standard size spring rolls, and a diet coke. 2) Quality. Everything was fresh and green, tasted fine. The vermicelli was a little sticky. I couldn’t tell the difference between the steak and the pork. It’s not what you’d get at a legit Vietnamese shop — this is some kind of compressed or processed product. The rolls were sloppily made and varying sizes. The kicker, and perhaps a key sticking point, is the bowls are just that — more of a salad. Think phở, with no broth. But with lettuce and cilantro. The peanut sauce was gritty and broken. 3) Lack of condiments. No Sriracha. No fish sauce. Just small tubs of garlic sauce(not sure what it is, kind of a sweet brown sauce), sweet chili sauce, and peanut sauce. No hoisin, no soy, etc 4) The diet coke. Seriously, this is important. It had to be the strangest tasting coke I’ve ever had. 5) The interior — it didn’t seem new. The front door was dirty, and it just didn’t feel like a newly opened restaurant. So that’s my take. I am very disappointed, as I was really looking forward to a new Vietnamese-style place for lunch. I’m not sure what demographic they’re going for, but it’s definitely not like any other Vietnamese places in town. And maybe that’s what the owners were going for, but if your part of the phở or banh mi or goi cuon crowd, this place isn’t for you. I wish them luck, but I will be surprised if they make it a year. BTW, I would’ve been happy to provide my feedback in person, but once I picked up my order, nobody said a word afterwords.
