Our waiter was nice and did a good job. We all ordered filet mignon, medium done. Well they were all very very well done. Don’t recommend the steaks. Cookie pie is good.

The crab cakes and corn crab chowder were delicious! Manager helped to seat us outside as a party of 11 and our waitress had a great personality

Good food fairly priced. Need to offer more. People came in for crab leg special from 4 to 6 pm. We left at 6:30 no one in dining room

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Accommodated a large group of us on the roof deck where we enjoyed entertainment, a fabulous sunset and delicious food and drinks. Highly recommend the hand-tossed pizzas. The service was second to none — ask for Ronnie or Paul if you’re on the roof and try the mojitos! We can’t wait to go back.

This place. Let’s start out with some pros — they have a few good food items on the menu like the Crab stuffed shrimp, and their drinks are fabulous with the large variety of mojitos and other summer specials. That being said, I most certainly would not dine here ever again. You can tell from the moment you walk in this place, that it is poorly managed. There are two different entrances into the restaurant and upon arrival, we were not greeted by anyone and had to actually approach someone ourselves to be seated. Next, when we asked about the availability of tables upstairs/outside, they looked at us like we had five heads. No one seemed to know the answer! We sent one of our own members of our group to run upstairs and check!!! Everything about the service is just downhill from there. We had to ask for every single item we needed«can we have water» –runs and gets water«can we have utensils» runs and gets utensils«can we have salt» runs… «can we have ketchup» runs… it was honestly absurd. And if our requests were that timely we would have been so lucky but instead we’d ask for something and they’d come back with it over 10mins later. Can we see how this is getting very old? There were 6 people in our group and from the time it took for the first person’s meal to come out all the way to the last, there was a 20 minute wait time. So if you plan on actually eating with the party you arrived with, goodluck. And while I’d like to say this was an isolated incident, every table around us was going through the same thing! I witnessed as people had to walk in to the restaurant multiple times to get the attention of servers who are busy hanging out at the bar area! It was honestly absurd Save yourself and go somewhere else. Trust me on this one. This place needs to undergo one of those hgtv«save that restaurant» shows.

I wanted to love it here. It’s in my neighborhood, and I have been rooting for someone to open something great in this location. The beer selections were good, and so were the apps. I especially like the Bada Bing Shrimp. The staff was friendly but very inexperienced. We had to ask for utensils after food was on the table, and for wipes when one of us was covered in rib sauce. And it wasn’t too busy, so staff was not in the weeds. Diners are in trouble if this place gets a real summer crowd. I liked the entertainer’s choice of music and also his voice– but he was way too loud for the small rooftop space. We couldn’t chat over dinner and we couldn’t hear the server too well. It was annoying. Sadly, the dinner food just isn’t good. Undercooked, overcooked and not fresh are the best ways to describe our 3 entrees. There are too many other good choices nearby. Try something else.

Poor hostess experience to kick it off. 20 min wait to sit upstairs on deck…20 min later we were asked to sit downstairs because they didn’t know how much longer it would be. I shared a «coaching opportunity» with the manager and was just given excuses… Appetizers came before drinks. Service was lackluster and no follow up. Computer allegedly crashed which caused delayed drinks. Ribs were great until my 10 yr old found a hair and the Caesar salad wasn’t very good(awful dressing, even waitress recommended different dressing then brought the wrong one) and kids meals came out three different times. $ 105 dinner that I wouldn’t have been pleased with 50% off… Consider other places on the water nearby. They’re all better!

We had a better experience than most of the other reviewers. We had a party of 25 and the Tavern was able to accommodate us on a Friday night.(They didn’t seem that busy.) My husband & I shared the $ 30 tasting menu(sausage, shrimp stuffed with crab meat, and cookie bomb) and a burger. The cookie bomb was exceptional with cookie dough baked into a small cupcake and then a scoop of ice cream on top. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. My older son had the oinker fried(fries with meat sauce and cheese). My younger monkey had a kid-size burger. Everything was delicious and the waitress was nice enough to give separate checks to each family. Our group had a wonderful time and we certainly plan to go back.

Came here a couple weeks ago and sat upstairs. The environment was really nice and the food wasn’t bad but the service wasn’t great. Multiple times our table was passed by and it took 20 minutes for someone to finally come over and take our drink order. I ordered a pizza while my friend ordered a salad and the pizza came out 15 minutes after her salad. No apologies for the late arrival. I’m a pretty patient person and I understand when a restaurant gets busy not everything will work out perfectly. However, it only appeared to be two waiters upstairs working on a full deck. The food runners were just huddling in a corner doing nothing while the servers ran around like crazy. But it does seem like a fun place to go get a drink and some appetizers. I will probably venture there again at some point.

Great place to come and relax after a day at the beach or the office. Each meal has rocked and Cape May brewery beers on tap,

Highly recommend Tavern on the Bay! Roof-top dining with a view of the bay & live music make for a beautiful date night on a breezy Wildwood Night. The baby back ribs appetizer was fall-off-the bone succulent and the stuffed shrimp and paella entrees were both outstanding. Tavern by theBay also offers more reasonably prices dishes than the other waterfront area competitors. My reasons for giving 4 stars not 5 are: 1. My french onion soups was lack luster, it lacked a full piece of cheese across the top of the crock, the bread inside was tough & overall the soup was undercooked. 2. Some minor issues with service, we were not given silverware and had to ask twice for 2 roll ups and there was one waiter who bordered on rude, he seemed irritated when we asked where to sit & if the rooftop offered a full service menu, he handed us menus and pointed to sit wherever, and then breezed by us only dropping a pile of napkins on our table… ummm, ok cranky, you’re in the service industry and if you’re in a bad mood then fake it and smile anyways. Overall the staff were all very sweet and friendly. The girl behind the upstairs bar was awesome! She tended a busy bar while waiting tables and still kept a big smile on her face. I even asked to change my order right after she put it in and she obliged happily. Sorry I didn’t catch her name but she was great! We will most definitely return to Tavern on the Bay and recommend you get there soon!

This place was awful. We were at the restaraunt a total of an hour and a half, including our fifteen minute seating wait(which wasn’t awful). Upon being seated, it took forever to even be acknowledged by waitstaff. Once we were asked our drink order, the waiter rushed through the specials and left our table without giving us the chance to ask any questions. We waited quite some time for our drinks, and my soda was flat. As we waited, we noticed that people who were seated AFTER us were being served their meals. We kept wating. Our waiter said he would, «Go yell at someone in the kitchen for our food.» After a total of 75 minutes, without even having bread served, we got up to leave. My husband went up to the bar to pay for our drinks. The bartender and the waiter, couldn’t understand why we were upset, and thought this was a reasonable waiting time. The bartender, who is supposed to be «the best bartender in Wildwood,» said to my husband, «we’re busy, what do you want?» while our waiter chimed in, «If you wanted fast food, you should have gone to McDonalds!» The service was was terrible, and they were extremely rude on top of it. We own a property in Wildwood and love to support local businesses, we also rent our condo and recommend restaraunts to our tenants. We will NOT be recommending Tavern on the Bay.

Visited this restaurant last year(Q-fire) and was pleased. Went back again with new name(tavern on the bay) not knowing what to expect. I tell you, it was better than last year. The food was excellent and the service was even better. The owner, Alphonse, was all around mingling with every table to make sure everything was to the customers liking. He, and his staff, made the final night of our vacation one of the best. He is very humble and gracious about his restaurant. We will make sure we stop in every time we are in the area. Thank you

Called ahead for a table of 8(4 of which were kids) on a Sunday. They sat us right away, the waitress was very attentive and the food came out really quickly. And it was all delicious! The baby back ribs slid right off the bones! We also love the calamari appetizer. The prices were a little higher than we expected but we’ll most likely be going back again.

Don’t go on Rio Grande Avenue. We did not stay to eat. We had a reservation, they were not prepared for us. Oh, and Bay is beyond two busted up parking lots. Patio. its really noisy from street horns blowing, exhaust, trucks… Food draws people in-Service keeps them coming. Can’t speak to the food. but the service… They can not even handle seating 6 people who had a reservation. Of course, we thought it was on the bay when we made the reservation.

I wanted to love this place… key words Wanted to. So let’s start by saying we had a flyer for a free glass of wine with entrée great however the glass of wine was less than half full. I’m sorry don’t offer it if your not going to give it if anything the flyer should say free half glass of wine with entrée. The appetizer which we got was the ribs that was pretty good. I got the chicken parm not terrible but a tad bland. My hubby got the chicken which he says was good but a little too spiced. All and all this is what got it 2 stars and thats because I’m very generous. Ambiance is weak and what really pushed us over the edge is the fact they advertise $ 1.50 twisted tea light and ya damn right the hubby got one and what do you know … best if consumed by December 2013 uggggg its end of June 2014SERIOUSLY??? anyway we didn’t say anything just asked for the bill and surprise surprise accidently they charged for the«complimentary wine». Told waitress and was corrected. Too bad the bad outweighed our ok or good parts. 6÷23÷14 — had to update my review… the restaurant charged my card twice once for $ 128.08 And once for the charge of our actual bill $ 64.05… disputed with the bank waiting for the credit to post WTF! not ok at all and not something you should worry about when eating at a restaurant!

Great meal with excellent service. Or server Shannon was great from answering our questions to the service she provided. It’s nice when the staff has a knowledge of the food and can answer without running to the kitchen or just look at you with a blank look. From the apps to our main dish everything was perfect. The new name and chefs are a welcome to Wildwood.

I agree with Barbara. I want to love this place, however: You cannot survive in this area with no Entertainment or Specials. They are competing with 4 other Big Restaurants within 1 block. Beachcreek, Uries, Boathouse & my Favorite The Wharf –which offers free Live entertainment. Shout out to Oliver Twist — The Best Bartender in Wildwood.
