The service was impeccable. Mr Short(Shorty, the owners son) came out to our table and asked about our meal; which was tasty. The waitress was very attentive to my toddler and kept a warm smile on her face and ours :) The proportions were HUGE especially for the price. A great American diner and a welcomed throwback to good old fashioned food and service.

GREAT coffee, fast friendly service, food was VERY good, too, like we knew it would, since the parking lot was jam packed, and for a good reason, we will definitely be back

While in town for a soccer tournament my husband i went for there breakfast. The restaurant was very busy but we got a table right await. The staff was very attentive, with many different people working together making sure we were satisfied. I can see that teamwork is very important to them. The portions were large and the prices very reasonable. The interior 50’s design does make the diner very noisy with how busy they were. I had the country fried steak and eggs which was awesome and my husband had pancakes eggs and sausage which he said were delicious. This is definitely do again for us.

Great service. Good food. I would definitely visit this establishment again. My waitress was amazing and the wait was not very long. It was a little loud, but I actually liked it because I still felt a sense if privacy.

WEHAD A 10MIMUTEWAIT | The atmosphere is great, you get this 80’s vibe. Which fits perfectly. My father ordered the Breakfast Burrito,(3lb?) And I got the Country Fried Steak with 3 eggs, a biscuit, and a heaping pile of home fries, Each $ 8.50. The steak had a crispy coating, with a juicy, tender inside. The gravy, perfect. Creamy, and housemade. GREATCUSTOMERSERVICE! 10⁄10

Good Southern breakfast and lunch staples at reasonable prices in a traditional diner environment and Very friendly, pretty waitresses! Hannah is the greatest! The kinda place that makes me wanna chill for awhile, was in no hurry to leave. Very good service, bright and cheery environment. There is a small counter to sit at if you prefer or abundant table seating. Lots of 50s style diner décor around. Virginia ham, biscuits, grits, huge pancakes, fried chicken, you get the idea…

First Time! Friendly. Friendly. Friendly. Especially having Gil Short greet us and chat it up with all his customers! Excellent. Breakfast of Champions. Perfect buttermilk pancake as large as the plate(could only eat 1) and the ham biscuit was so very good. Coffee was very good — which is very important! Husband had Hangover Breakfast with 2 eggs, corned beef hash and biscuit with sausage gravy(was such a large portion). He didn’t gave an actual hangover, btw.

This place is awesome. Only been here twice, but each time was great. Always feel right at home and the food doesn’t disappoint. Especially the triple decker club!

I have eaten here at Shorty’s a few times and whenever I go, I wonder why I don’t come more often! The service is always fast and friendly, the food is some of the best in town and the atmosphere is that of a retro diner which allows Shorty’s to stand out from all of Williamsburg’s pancake houses. I’ve sampled both breakfast and lunch choices and neither have let me down. My favorite by far is their Cuban sandwich. Who would have thought a small restaurant in Williamsburg, VA would have the best Cuban I’ve ever tasted. Now mind you, I’ve never been to Miami but have been to many other big cities that offer this sandwich and Shorty’s by far has been the best. And their fresh cut fries? No meal is complete without them! I assure you, going to Shorty’s will not be a bad decision. In fact, it should be on a bucket list of places to check in Williamsburg for locals and tourists alike!

We went to Shorty’s for lunch, I had hoped for some good stick to your ribs kind of food, and boy did they deliver! I had the open face burger, which is your good old fashion hamburger steak on Texas toast topped with onions and mushrooms then drenched in gravy! Along but with a large side of fries also topped and drenched! Can I just tell you it was the best thing I have eaten in Virginia thus far! I am hoping this continues!

Shortys was a good classic greasy food dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive. The décor is wild and right out of a 1950s scene. I ordered the shortys breakfast which was extremely affordable and tasty. If you want some quick food when in Williamsburg this is the place to go.

An old Pizza Hut turned diner, Shorty’s is a welcome locally owned independent alternative to Cracker Barrel and the overblown pancake houses around town. Off the beaten path so it’s not filled with tourists, you can get all the breakfast basics here of eggs, omelets and pancakes with a variety of meats(bacon, sausage, ham, etc.) and fried potato options(home fries, hash browns, etc.). The service has always been nice and friendly, making this my go to breakfast joint when in town.

On the way home from the farmers market in Williamsburg we decided we needed food. My husband wanted salad and I wanted pancakes ;) so we compromised and got pancakes. Well, a pancake and a couple omelets and hash browns. The kids pancake is huge and my son was very happy, he even ate his eggs, which he rarely does if they are scrambled. The Russian omelet was fantastic and the veggie was the same. Both had great flavor and you could taste the eggs. Not like some places where the egg just kind of gets lost in an over stuffed omelet. I’m picky with my pancakes and these were good but not my favorite, my husband likes them though, and like I said before, so did my son. The staff was friendly and put us on the list right away, but an older gentleman started taking people and sitting them before they even got on the list, so we were overlooked a handful of times. Frustrating but I’m Patient and it wasn’t a huge problem. I’d be back, for sure.

I am a die hard IHOP fan … Until I ate here! I admit, I was a bit skeptical, however, we were greeted immediately as if we had been regulars. Were seated quickly and our waitress was genuinely friendly. Drink order taken and received,(2 unsweet teas) we had no clue what to order. Upon recomendations, we decided on the granola pancakes with side of grits and over medium eggs, western omelet with the home fries. As we waited, we took note of the restaurant itself. It was clean, tables were turned quickly and the staff was speedy, but didn’t rush anyone. Diverse clientel from families, to couples, folks in their Sunday best… All were treated like family. When food arrived it was fresh, hot and abundant! If you order the pancakes, beware they are huge! And so good, you do not want to stop eating them! Loved everything… I hope the next time we go, we will have the same experience!

For all that I received here, I would’ve paid less than $ 10 at Tony’s dinner in Norfolk. My order should’ve been a meal at one price versus paying for each separate item. This made my breakfast a bit on the pricey side. This is a tourist area, so I guess that should be expected. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I was very pleased with the portion size of each item. My cheese eggs were tasty. They were prepared as requested. The French Toast looked great but I didn’t taste any cinnamon. It was quite bland. I was satisfied with the home fries. The potatoes were lightly seasoned and the grits were ok. My waitress was very friendly and attentive.

I don’t know how everyone is getting on their knees to blow Shorty’s Diner, I just don’t see it. I ordered three poached eggs, bacon, sausage patties, and hash browns. I didn’t eat the hash browns because fuck hash browns. The bacon was almost crispy. Almost. The sausage patties weren’t patties at all, it looked like a mama bird tried to feed it to her young. It had some taste to it but also clearly had some filler(bread and maybe some milk). The poached eggs… Man… If I knew this is what they consider poached eggs I would have just gotten them some other way. Overall I was really disappointed because I love breakfast and it’s easy as shit to cook.

It was New Years Day, and we needed some greasy goodness, Shorty’s beckoned. We’d been meaning to try the place for a while but hadn’t had the chance, now was the time since we were out that way. I had the eggs bennie, which was delicious as promised by our server. Hubs had the Shorty’s Special, which he enjoyed. Coffee was hot and fresh. Although they were very busy the server was prompt and friendly, plus our food came out quite quickly.
