The Hoot is a cutesy gift store that I’ve frequented for things for myself and family/friends. It has a very homely feel to it, and the staff are always helpful — for example, they’ll wrap your item for free if you ask nicely and inform them it’s a present for someone! You find unexpected and creative things almost every time you visit. It reminds me of my grandparent’s place in Pennsylvania.

So happy that The Hoot is in a better location, rather than in the previous one, which can only be described as soul-sucking. Now, they have a small garden patio where one can enjoy Farmer’s Cow ice cream. This has been described to me as a gift shop. Funny, I have almost exclusively just gotten gifts for myself from here. The jewelery is beautiful. There are soaps, clothing, bags, garden swag, books, cards, kids’ toys, items for the kitchen, and more. From here, I suggest going to downtown Willimantic for more of the artsy vibe.

Oh The Hoot. What would I do without The Hoot. I love all the stuff they sell there, from bird feeders to kitchen wares and everything else in between. I think their price is pretty decent for the quality and selection they have. I used to go to The Hoot back when it was across the street where the current dilapidated mall is(I’m not gonna get into it). If you are someone from NYC, chances are you can find this in any old shop but if you live in the woods(eg. Connecticut), this might be your salvation yet. Incidentally, they are located next to a Salvation Army.
