This restaurant has mostly the usual Chinese dishes on the menu, but with a smattering of Malaysian, Thai, and Vietnamese dishes as well. I’ve been intrigued by the menu for a while and figured I should try them for something other than common Chinese fare. So I stopped by for lunch and ordered the Indian mee goreng from the lunch menu. What I noticed is although their lunch specials cost more than other Chinese places, they do throw in a few extras. For example, crab rangoons and soup are included. The mee goreng itself though wasn’t terribly authentic, judging by Malaysian standards, but that’s just one dish so I may revise my assessment when I return to try other items from the menu. Food aside, service was decent and polite, and the pacing was appropriate. However, they seemed a bit secretive or guarded about the WiFi password.(The cashier insisted on entering it herself on my phone rather than telling me outright what it was.) Parking was abundant at lunchtime since the strip mall, at least this portion of it, has a fairly large shared parking area.

I was craving Chinese and wanted to try something new. So I ordered from here through Take Out Taxi. For the price, it really should get one star. The dumplings were pasty and flavorless — although the dipping sauce was good. The dim sum was a gloppy pasty mess with a ton of sauce. And finally, the steamed shrimp and chicken came with sauce on it(was not supposed to) and had about 3 pieces of chicken and shrimp each for about $ 18. I’ll keep looking for a decent chinese place. This place is over priced. Happy Fortune is ten times better and cheaper.

It’s a modest Chinese place and clearly very popular for takeout. The food was solid. Hot and sour was really good. We had the mooshoo pancake which was pretty good. Buddhist delight was slightly over cooked as the broccoli was soft. I got the asian vegetable with shrimp — did not seem terribly fresh but it was edible. Service was excellent.

Rude waiter; slow service; never again. We waited for 45 min and had to walk out. The food on the next table looked discolored.

This is a hidden gem tucked away in the plaza. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, a nice change from the loud bars/restaurants I normally tend to frequent. I highly recommend the Thai tea, while the interesting orange-ish hue may be off putting, it was fantastic. There was a nice range of food on the menu. The staff was pleasant and made several suggestions. Dinner was delicious and I will be returning in the future.

It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t bad. Got the chicken lo mein lunch special with crab rangoons and an egg roll on the side. The lo mein was cooked well but could have used more sauce, there wasn’t much flavor. Crab rangoons were good. The egg roll was dripping with oil. It was like they took it out of the fryer and put it right in the wax bag. When I got home and I wrapped it in paper towels to soak up the oil. The egg roll was good after all that though. Wouldn’t sit in to eat because of the musty smell. They are in need of some new carpeting and upgrades for sure. All in all not bad for the price but won’t go out of my way to go here. And the search continues for decent Chinese food in Delaware…

This place has some of the best Chinese and Asian dishes in the entire Delaware Valley if you ask me! Their General Tso Shrimp is amazing and is the best ever. Prices are great. Portions are a good size, and if you go there and eat, you get a lot of extras with your meal. Laura and Tangsang are amazing people as well(the owners).

This place does primarily take-out, so if you want to sit in a quiet restaurant and receive fast service; Hunan always works. I appreciate that after just a couple of visits the staff will recognize you and you will become friendlier. All in the the food is hit or miss. Classic foods like fried rice, shrimp dishes… etc are very good. The«sweet and sour» mixes are not the best– I avoid them. Same goes for the eggrolls. They do carry some of the best soups in the area– I personally love the hot and sour they carry.

I’ve been here a few times, and always been very happy with my meal — it seems that everything they make is delicious! My all-time favorite dish here is the roast duck lettuce wraps — flavorful, with crisp vegetables and a delicious sauce to top it all off! This time we ordered the crispy lemon chicken, chicken with asparagus in black bean sauce, and sweet and sour pork. Orders are served family style, so everyone tried a bit of each dish, and we were all quite satisfied. Most people order takeout, so if you dine in you get a table right away, fast service and attentive staff. The atmosphere isn’t anything spectacular, but the food definitely makes the trip worthwhile!

My wife and I ordered delivery from here through Takeout Taxi and everything we ordered was abysmal and completely bogus. We started with the«Thai» chicken wings and Roti Chanai and both were horrible. The chicken wings were nothing but cheap, fried, Chinese style wings soaked in some thick, nasty, sweet and sour sauce and were not even close to being«Thai» style wings. The Roti Chanai was even worse– the 2 pancakes were so drenched in oil that we didn’t even want to pick them up. Even the curry sauce the Roti Chani was served with was beyond watered down and had not even the slightest taste of curry. For our meals we ordered the Chicken Penang Red Curry dish and the Pad Thai and, again, both were pretty much un-edible. The Chicken Penang Red Curry tasted like Chinese steamed chicken with some nasty watered down sauce and the Pad Thai was completely tasteless all together. Either they forgot to add some ingredients or they simply don’t know what Pad Thai is. Trust me, save your money and go elsewhere.

I go out of my way for this place because their food is much better than most of the Asian resturants in the area. Been eating here for years and am rarely disappointed.

My boyfriend D and I had been eying this menu for a while now, but since they don’t deliver, we didn’t check it out until today, Valentine’s Day. We debated about where to go, and chose Asian over Indian, and decided it was the perfect night to check out somewhere new. It’s in a strip mall shopping center, near a Famous Joe’s Tavern and Radio Shack. The waiting area was small but decent, with the takeout area and what looked like it should be a bar in the one corner. The tables were nicely set, a mix of elegance and casual, with the Chinese Zodiac and dessert/drink menu as reading material under a glass top, with fake roses on the tables, and children’s drawings mixed with Asian décor adorning the walls. We were immediately asked what we wanted to drink by the waitress who sat us, and served a pot of tea to share, and Crispy Wontons with Duck Sauce to munch on while we perused the menu. Shortly after, another waiter stopped by and asked if our drink orders had been taken. We ordered a Sapporo and a Pinot Noir. The waitress came by and handed me a white wine, and told D that they were out of Sapporo, but had two other beers that were similar. She had them, cold, in bottles, ready to serve, which I thought was nice — no waiting, and he could see what she was offering. I didn’t complain about my white wine — Pinot Grigio — because I decided it would actually go better with what I was ordering than the Pinot Noir(red), and it was a good wine. We ordered our food; a bowl of Tom Yum soup for D, Crab Rangoon to share, and our entrees — Spicy Scallops and Beef for him, and Penang Red Curry for me. I’d been craving Red Curry for a while now, which was part of why I wanted to try this place so badly! Maybe 10 – 15 minutes later, a waitress came out with two entrees and tried to convince us it was our order. We insisted that it wasn’t ours, that we were still waiting for soup and an appetizer. She wandered off, and eventually found the table it was for. We inquired with another waitress about our appetizer and soup, and shortly after, we got our order. The bowl of soup was big, mostly broth but a decent portion of chicken, shrimp and veggies. The Crab Rangoon seemed a little undercooked, as the wonton part was a bit chewy. Otherwise, they were okay. Not the best I’ve had, but probably not the worst. While we were eating our starters, a waiter came out with a bowl of soup and asked if it was ours. I pointed to the bowl of soup in front of D, and the man wandered off, looked at his ticket, and then went back into the kitchen. Our entrees came out about 10 minutes after we were done with the soup and Rangoon. Or, I should say, D’s dish came out in about 10 minutes, while mine took another 5 – 8 minutes. He twiddled his thumbs and waited until I got my dish. …Which came out wrong. I had ordered Penang Red Curry, and a Green Curry came out.(Obviously not a red curry!) I didn’t complain, again, because a) I could eat it, and had debated between the two anyway. b) my boyfriend’s meal would be cold if we had to wait for another entrée! It was tasty, even if it wasn’t what I ordered(and still crave), and D said his dinner was good as well. Neither dish was phenomenal or the best ever, which is what we had hoped for this place, since their menu seemed so diverse and intriguing. I got a takeout box, and one of our few waiters came by with the check, some orange slices, and some fortune cookies. We stopped him and said that we had thought about ordering dessert. D ordered the Red Bean ice cream, and I ordered the Sesame Honey Banana. He came back to ask me if I wanted the one with ice cream or without, as they had a «Fried Banana» dessert on their specials board up front. I wasn’t sure which was which, so I just said without, and then noticed again the one I ordered DID come with ice cream. About 15 minutes passed, and D got his ice cream, and the waiter mumbled something about the bananas taking longer because they have to fry them. Obviously, D couldn’t wait on eating his ice cream since it would melt… He was nearly done by the time I got my bananas. It was a huge portion, very good, although I thought the sesame seeds should have been toasted. I was still working on it when another waitress(or hostess?) came by and asked if I needed a box. All in all, the food was good, moderately priced, but the service was poor. We noticed that pretty much everyone that dined in had some sort of mix up with their order. The waitstaff would go table to table with dishes, asking the patrons if it was their order, until they got it right, and I think even the cooks were delivering orders at times. They seemed to be trying the method of service where all the wait staff service all the tables, but it was NOT working. I’d be afraid to order take-out, for fear of them getting it wrong, but at least the orders would all be up at the same time…

I came here looking for pad Thai. I had here it last week and it was delicious but the service left a bad taste in my mouth. Drink order took 15 minutes to get and we waited for lunch for 45 minutes. The check came in 2 seconds. The worst part is we were the ONLY table there. I gave them a second chance today with take out. I called at 11 since they like to take their time. It took them 15 minutes to bring it up once I got there at 11:30. Both orders were wrong! And they charged us the dinner price. Never again. Food is great(when they get it right) worst service! I’m so disapppointed.

In an attempt to find a decent place for Chinese take-out in Wilmington, I recently decided to give the Hunan Inn a shot. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. –The spring rolls were so-so. –The chicken in the sesame chicken seemed to be of especially low quality. It kinda grossed me out to be honest. –The beef and broccoli was OK, if not a little on the bland side. –A bright spot was the Thai Tom Yum Mee Hoon(a lemongrass soup with chicken and shrimp) — it was quite tasty. Based on my experience, this place was a mixed bag at best. I think I’ll explore other options for Chinese food before returning to the Hunan Inn.
