Clean. Tidy. After a horrendous day of travel(or delayed travel and two airports) – thanks to US Airways – we arrived in Wilmington around midnight with no place to stay. We ended up checking out the Innkeeper. It’s set back off the highway, near a semi-vacant lot. I saw on the elevator certificate that the property is actually owned by Holiday Inn Express. Secured the AARP discount(thanks to my parents who were traveling with us) at around $ 80/night. The place had free continental breakfast in the morning – bagels, cereal, muffins, juice, coffee. The place has an outdoor pool and backs up to the highway. Our room was very bright in the morning from the sun shining in. We had no problems with our room and we were only there for about 8 hours.

My family and I had a fantastic stay here just last week. We stayed for a total of 6 nights for my friend’s wedding nearby in Downtown Wilmington. The Innkeeper of Wilmington was glad to give my friend a great rate for having all her guests stay at the Innkeeper. SAFEANDSECURE: First off, upon arriving, I could tell this was a safe and secure place to stay. When entering the front to check in, I noticed that in order to get into the lobby, you have to have your room key. A big up, in my opinion, because that means only guests staying here can come in and out. THEROOM: After we walked into our room on the 4th floor, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the size of the room. We had a non-smoking room with a king sized bed. They also had a nice desk with a mirror in front of it,(I found this convenient because I could do my make up and hair while hubby was showering) a small entertainment center with the TV, and a loveseat couch to lounge in. We also had a small refrigerator and microwave. The bed looked clean and appealing, and was generously mounded with a ton of pillows! We had maybe 6 – 8 pillows for the two of us! Each was unique, you can tell they weren’t new, but I kind of liked that because each night, we both had 8 options of pillows to try to see which we liked best. :) A/C was nice, you can set your own temperature you’d like and it would automatically adjust to your setting. The bathroom was very clean, and the vanity was VERY spacious! I really appreciate this because its useful and comfortable to use while getting ready. We also really enjoyed the amount of drawers that were offered so we could store our clothes and such. Now I’m not going to lie, this isn’t a 5 star hotel. You can definitely tell its well aged, and the furniture is a little out dated, but what you can also tell is that they take great care of what they got. PETPOLICY: They do allow dogs! The most recent rate I got, was when we stayed there. We brought our little Pomeranian, and the pet fee was a single charge of $ 20 for your entire stay. This is a HUGE bargain compared to the Extended Stay of America down the street. We considered the Extended Stay of America simply because they had a full kitchenette but they were charging $ 25 per NIGHT to bring our furry loved one… For us, that was a $ 150 vs. $ 20 fee for our Pompom. In addition, personally, we got to check out the Extended Stay of America because our close friend’s stayed there instead of the Innkeeper and the rooms were a lot smaller, the bed was smaller, and the kitchen wasn’t really worth it. Glad we stayed at the Innkeeper. STAFF: The staff was extremely friendly! And I don’t just mean the front desk, I mean everyone… Including the housekeeping, and even the lady that helped serve during breakfast hours! Everyone was sooo sweet and never hesitated to help get us WHATEVER we needed. They even allowed us to have a BBQ outside near the pool area the day before the wedding. We all had a GREAT time, and they were so supportive and helpful. LOCATION: Wow, I really can’t stop raving about this place. Location, honestly. probably THEMOSTCONVENIENTLY located hotel/motel I have EVER stayed in. Right in front of the Innkeeper is an Ihop. Though, I’m not a big Ihop fan, and I did get a really bad stomach ache eating here, the staff there is very friendly as well. Also, this Ihop is not 24-hours. Behind the Innkeeper is a Costco. So if you’re a member, it’d be convenient to pick up a case of water or something if you’re staying a while. :) Market St(where Innkeeper is located) is PACKED with loads of convenient stores! Right across the street is a Wal-Mart Supercenter, open 24 Hours! We came here for late night eats and ate in our room. There’s also a Carrabas, O’Charleys, Cracker Barrel, Blimpie, Nail shop, Sticky Fingers(which people kept recommending to us), Target, Chick-Fil-A, Church’s Chicken, Bojangles, Taco Bell, Mc Donald’s, and soo much more. For a 2 mile drive, there’s also a shopping area we discovered when picking up our tux rentals at the Mens Warehouse… They have a ton of shops in a beautiful location, Japanese food, The Melting Pot, Macaroni Grill, On The Border, and even a movie Theater. You’re less than 10 minutes away from Downtown Wilmington. And Myrtle beach is only an hour and half drive away! THEMINI-CONS: The few little cons about the Innkeeper I noticed was that the motel did smell like smoke. The room keys had to be reactivated a lot for us too. Small price to pay, for a great stay! All in all, I can’t stop raving about our stay here. I was so happy. I noticed that there’s TONS of competition, lots of hotels in the area, but when comparing prices, and weighing out differences. The Innkeeper had the best prices to offer, and the stay was more than comfortable. I LOVED it so much, we just may consider staying here again sometime soon. DEFINITELY recommend it. Check out the coupon books they offer in the lobby to save some $

My boyfriend and I had a great stay here. Devon and Megan at the front were entertaining and helpful and hooked us up with a good deal(I did not have my triple A card on me but they gave me the discount anyways). The complimentary breakfast was MEH at best(stay clear of the microwave omelets and the coffee– both pretty bad) but the cereal selection was on point(cinnamon toast crunch, frosted flakes, special k, raisin bran). The bed was big and comfortable(the mattress was on the harder side but my bf and I both banked over 8 hours every night). Centrally located btw downtown and the beach– you can’t go wrong with this place. Only down side was we got a new room our last night(unexpected extra day at the hotel) and our room smelled like mildew. Ewww! I recommend staying here!(Unless you are in room 229… it stinks)
