Going to Nomad is like stepping into someone’s living room during a live music jam session. It’s dark, it’s comfortable, and laid back. The interior is very long and a little narrow. The bar is along one of the walls. There is table seating in the back, but you need to get there early to secure a table. The band plays by the front door. The band is fantastic. You can tell that the musicians love what they do. They’re not there just because they get paid — they are there because they love the music and love the bar, and it shows. The crowd is older. My group was between 22 and 27, and we were the youngest people there by far. I ordered simple mixed drinks while I was there, and they were reasonably priced and fairly strong. They do not serve food. The location is in a pretty dimly lit area of Wilmington, and street parking sometimes forces you to park several streets away. On your walk to the bar, there can be some people that accost you asking for money or other things. Some of the girls in our group had open solicitations made to them while they were walking towards the bar, which made them very uncomfortable. This obviously has nothing to do with Nomad itself and doesn’t affect the rating by any means, but it’s something important to be aware of.

I’d be here every weekend if I could. Really nice music, great drinks– never had a bad Manhattan here — awesome atmosphere. Great and interesting mix of ppl. Not to give away a secret, but one of the best places to ring in the New Year.

We came here for a company hh-decent drinks. They had some quick bites for us… deviled eggs, chicken tenders… not bad at all. There was a decent amount of people at the bar for a Wednesday. There’s no sign outside so it’s hard to tell that it’s a bar. Located on 9th and Orange.

When walking up to the door I was extremely skeptical, however this bar is by far the best live music and jazz spot in Wilmington. The people, like the music were a perfect blend of diversity and inclusion. A must when in the area

Honestly a little surprised I can give a bar that doesn’t serve food a five star rating but I guess I chalk it up to the free gold fish(pepperidge farm) they have sitting out. Great beer selection, even better liquor selection, and it is one of the most perfect bars for me due to its ambiance. You can tell there are a ton of locals because everyone knows each other but it is purposely dark and it plays incredible music.

Excellent live jazz Wed. or Th.-Saturday, begins around 9:00PM. Owner is a musician and is known to sit in with many of the acts. Last Friday the band was exceptional but she did not join them while I was there. Good service, professional bartenders, craft beer on tap, no food but they have menus for delivery, Philly jazz club feel without the big cover.

Stopped in here on Friday night with friends for one drink. This must be a real bar because there are no fruity girly drinks, which is all I drink because apparently I’m a princess according to one of my friends. I think the music was jazz? or there was a jazz flute… not really my thing but it was still fun.

Great neighborhood bar with wonderful ambience. The bartenders are friendly, the beer list is extensive, and the crowd is a good mix. They often have live music, ranging from classic((and excellent!) jazz musicians, to homegrown Wilmington indie band New Sweden. It can get a little loud sometimes — great place for live music, but not always the best for conversation.

Hidden gem of Wilmington. Bring your own food and do drinks, complemented by music or friendly discussions with friends and strangers alike. Rotation of music(posted on their Facebook page) typically between Wed-Sat. Also a crowd that hangs out afterwork for happy hour drinks and casual chat.

What a diamond in the rough! Nomad is truly a hidden gem in Wilmington DE. Finding a parking spot on the street wasn’t an issue when we discovered Nomad last Friday night. AND there’s NO cover! Wow. You could hear the beautiful live jazz music a block away, and the artists were amazingly friendly. The inside of Nomad is so cozy and inviting. The style is quite modern, and the bar is beautifully designed. The bartenders are quick to serve you with a warm smile. I believe they have about 8 rotating draft brews and several speciality cocktails. Their wine menu seemed extensive too. Also, the locals are extremely friendly! They say this is a local favorite– I completely see why :) I’d be here often if I lived in Wilmington!

When people ask me what Nomad is like, I say«sort of like the bar in the Overlook Hotel from The Shining». Well, that is without Jack Nicholson and Lloyd. But there’s something about Nomad that feels classic, like it’s been here before. The vibe, that amazing bar, the expert staff and those delicious cold drafts and perfectly created drinks. Why would you ever want to leave? I also had the chance to play a gig at Nomad, and the vibe was crazy, with folks from various walks of life making Nomad a great melting pot of fun.

Prob one of the best bars in Wilmington. The best patrons, the best service, the best music, the best owners. You won’t find any bedazzeled dragons on tee shirts in this bar. The prices are more then fair and I struggle with telling people about it. I want to keep it my little secret but Linda and her husband(owners) deserve all the guests they can get. Get in there early as the place gets packed. Shake hands with the staff and they’ll remember you for life. Cheers!

Hidden gem in Wilmington! Live jazz music. No food except for bowls of goldfish(my fav!) or chex mix. OK beer selection, some craft beer on tap. Not many places to sit, but plenty of room to dance in close quarters. Big fan!

There is a live jazz club in Wilmington? I thought jazz clubs were extinct species in this city. I’m glad to see there is one existing and thriving! Nomad does not charge a cover to enter and the space is small. To say this place gets crowded is an understatement. You actually walk by the musicians as they are playing when you enter. The bar staff is nice and they have a good selection of craft beers. Don’t show up hungry because they do not serve food. Due to this fact, I would not recommend this place, as a first stop on a date, but it is a nice place to end a date. The exposed brick adds a nice decorative touch. I could not help myself from thinking what Wilmington must have been like in the 1950s and 60s when jazz ruled. Being in Nomad transported me back to an era gone by.

One of the best jazz bars in the area. It’s authentic. A great vibe that cannot be easily matched or recreated in Wilmington.

This intimate, dive bar is a gem in Wilmington. It may be the best bar in the city with a lively crowd, great music and fun bartenders. They don’t serve food so get a bite before you go!

Great place — hard to find. Walk down Orange and listen for the music. Chill place to hang and listen to jazz. Bartenders are cool, had some great laughs with them.
