Decent place, it’s run down but fairly clean. Make sure if you book through a reseller to call and tell them not to put you in a smoking room, otherwise they will, and you won’t be happy. We were in a nonsmoking room, and it still smelled funky. Has a small kitchen, with a limited amount of dishware. There were dark grease stains on the ceiling. There is a very small pool, and a run down picnic area. No breakfast is provided, but there is a decent snack bar where you can buy stuff for a reasonable price. There seems to be a lot of rough people that stay here, but nobody bothered us. The worst part was when we checked in, etc realized the toilet was clogged by a previous guest. When we called the front desk, we were told we had to come get the«community plunger» and take care of it ourselves! Luckily I got this room for $ 100 off due to an Orbitz deal, but I certainly wouldn’t ever pay the normal $ 119 rate for this place!

Executive summary: Give CJ a promotion. You will not find better accomodations in the area for anywhere near the same price. Granted, the rooms are a little old and smell like cleaning products… But let’s face it, there are far worse things for hotel rooms to smell like. This would have been a four star review, except for how they handled a last-minute change. For family reasons, I had to stay an extra two days. What happens when you extend a rental car reservation? They take advantage of you. What happens when you change an airline ticket at the last minute? You wind up wishing someone would go postal at the US Airways — whoops, sorry, «Amercian Airlines» — executive offices. What happens when you tell CJ behind the counter that you want to extend your stay at the Extended Stay? No problem. Same room, same rate, two more days, done. For being friendly, useful, and efficient, CJ adds an extra star to this review. He works there most evenings.

Nice little cozy spot. The room has everything you would need to include a stove and utensils. Had a very comfortable stay.

Often the best time to gauge quality of service is when something goes wrong. This is when you see how much management cares to provide quality service. Such an opportunity presented itself when I arrived for my two night stay last Thursday night. These folks passed. On arrival, the guy at the desk, Chris, told me that there was an internet glitch* on my reservation. They didn’t have any non-smoking rooms available. He did have smoking rooms and he’d give me one for the night at $ 39+tax. This is $ 10 off the AAA rate. I told him I’d take it, but might not be able to stay given the wife’s allergies and asthma. On entry, the room smelled a little like smoke, but looked clean. We decided to stay. In addition, they didn’t have a room for my second night, so I’d have to check again the next day for a room. I was prepared to leave the next day. The night passed fairly smoothly and the wife was not adversely affected by the room. I checked with the woman at the desk the next morning, and she was extremely helpful and nice, indicating that she’d give me the room for that night too at the same price. She was booked but gave me one of the«hidden» rooms she keeps for just this kind of occasion. Now to the room. It was very basic accommodations. There is a full size frig, a small two-burner cooktop, a small desk and a passable bath. The shower pressure was good. The beds were old but still mostly comfortable. There is no morning breakfast. This is a cheap place to stay, it is simple and getting old. The room I was in was only a dozen or so more guests away from being just plain worn and not worth much more than I paid. The rooms are external entry, if that matters to you. Also, the place is clearly a low-cost alternative for truckers and local construction crews. You can plan on seeing the proverbial«Joe Sixpack», possibly hanging out on the balcony after 9PM. It seems like a very safe area. It was kind of noisy in the room, from both other rooms and the road(in a room on the front side). Finally, this is not Homestay Inn anymore, it is now the Suburban Extended Stay. * As a long time computer professional working on many different kinds of computers, I believe there are really no «computer glitches» or «internet glitches». Computers and the network do what they are told, by humans. Save for the occasional act of God or hardware problem, issues that arise when using computers or the internet are the result of some human error. Calling the accidental overbooking an «internet glitch» was like blaming my messed up hair today on the blow dryer. Most likely somebody botched logic in a program that handles internet reservations, either ignoring them, or not taking into account the current reservation count.
