Small, cozy wine bar with a truly excellent wine selection. The tapas are generous portions and the two we had, country paella with chorizo and the truffle mushroom late bread, were excellent. It was difficult to choose which to order as the menu offered so many interesting options! The chef Fenix is definitely living up to his reputation for truly imaginative dishes. We look forward to return.

Yum! This place is a hidden treasure of Wilmington. A very cozy place and not a very good for parties of more than 4 people. They have an amazing selection of wines and you will get great advice from the the very knowledgeable staff behind the bar. The menu is comprised of mostly small plates, but is always Delicious. They have the best gourmet cheese and meat selection in town. Occasionally the will have special wine pairing menus and events.

I met a gaggle of gals here for the wine tasting. We were given four generous tastes of two whites and two reds in sherry glasses. And, the tasting was free! The Fortunate Glass features tapas, or small plates. I ordered the muffuletta, which happened to be vegetarian. It came with two small sandwiches nestled against a bed of salad dressed with what appeared to be a homemade Thousand Island dressing. And, it was far from a small plate. That was a filling meal. The sandwiches had sort of an Asian taste, which I found very enticing. There were zucchini, mushrooms, cheese, and an olive salad. It went very well with the glass of red wine that I ordered from the tasting. There were other vegetarian offerings as well. My friend ordered the pizza with mushrooms and havarti cheese. I would like to return on a Tuesday night for wine tasting again. What a treat!

This place makes me want to move to Wilmington. No exaggeration, that is how cute this place is. Not to mention, whenever I go to a new city, I NEVER repeat a business because there is so much to see and do… but I went to The Fortunate Glass on Friday night AND Saturday night because they have one of the greatest cheese plates I have ever had in my life. Plus, this place is adorable! And a wine bar! Wine + cheese?! I am in heaven. It is classy yet not pretentious. Upscale yet not snooty. Why does Memphis not have a place like this?! The bartenders are so sweet and friendly. Loved chatting with them as well as their recommendations. I can be obnoxious when I tell them, «you decide» on cheese and wine, but they didn’t disappoint at all. Scoot on over there ASAP if you’re in the area!

Can’t wait to go back! We like to tell the servers what we like and go with their suggestions. I’ve had some of the best wine at their recommendation. We always hit this up for a before-dinner drink, so we’ve not had anything to eat. We like to sit outside and people watch. We’ve gone here to kick off our anniversary evening every year for the past 4 years, and we’ll be doing the same this upcoming weekend.

I love dining at the fortunate glass. The food and wine are wonderful, and the chefs are incredible ! You can tell that the chef puts personal care into each individual dish and it truly makes the taste out of this world. It drew me back there over and over. I love the chefs special menu when I go and I highly recommend it paired with the wine. The waitstaff is only so so.

Stopped by on a recommendation; arrived to find a wine tasting going on(what luck); sampled a few different and unique wines and enjoyed some of the bruschetta of the day. Great atmosphere, super friendly staff and good selection of wines and food. I would highly recommend!

Just wonderful. New for us. Didn’t know what to expect. Great wine bar and small plates. Also great beer. We had the 2 cheese 2 antipasto plate. It was great. For desert, the sampler. The service was outstanding. The waiter suggestions right on. Worth the drive to Wilmington.

Stopped in before dinner at Little Dipper one night. I can’t believe it took me so long to try this place out! I love wine, friendly bar tenders and small plates. And that’s exactly what we got. The atmosphere was quaint and there are a few bistro tables outside. Great for people watching. My husband and I each tried a new wine that we’ve never had before which we loved and which came recommended by our bar tender(I forget his name) and we got a few small plates. Those came recommended as well. We just let him choose everything for is that night. 2 drinks, 2 plates $ 35 before tip. We’ll be back for a Tuesday night tasting.

Sit outside, order the petit sirah(Jeff runquist 2013) or any wine, sit outside and enjoy the people watching. Helpful staff and food that is apparently very good. Will definitely visit again when in Wilmington.

Why have my Wilmington friends been hiding this place from me? The Fortunate Glass has been open for nearly four years and somehow this was my first visit, but it won’t be my last. After roaming around the downtown area for awhile we decided to find a place to enjoy the beautiful weather and sip on some wine. The Fortunate Glass was a «fortunate» find! The owner set us all up outside and handed us some menus. I love the cork menus super cute. The wine list is extensive here and the owner and waiters can tell you about each and everyone. The prices are extremely reasonable and you can find something to enjoy no matter what you are willing to spend. We started off with a sparkling rose from France and moved on to a delicious Pinot Gris from France. The wine they suggested was spot on for our mood we ended up drinking yikes I think 4 or 5 bottles, it was so worth it! They also have some delicious small plates and lots of cheese! We ordered some cheese and olives to soak up some wine and really enjoyed the selection our waiter suggested. We had such a fabulous day here. Thanks to The Fortunate Glass for contributing to such a memorable girls weekend. If you love wine I highly recommend checking this place out(I should note they have a great beer selection too)!

Absolutely love the Fortunate Glass. Aaron behind the bar is always prompt and professional with service and honestly knows his wines, inside and out. If it is wine and its good, Aaron knows it. Ambiance is quaint and relaxed, but can get crowded at times depending on when you go. I prefer the bar but have sat at a table and have had just as good of service. The menu is not only thoughtful and delicious but also pairs wells with many of the wines they have. Whether you are wanting small plates to munch on or a a full meal, I have never had a bad thing on the menu. Deserts are made in house and are all excellent as well. The ownership does a good job of finding unique blends and more interesting selections than you would find at many of the other places around town. I recommend getting something off the specials menu that they have, it changes regularly and usually has something interesting that I have not had or heard of before. They have a large selection of wines by the glass and different pour seizes depending on your taste and budget as well. If you are downtown and in the mood for a good glass of wine, The Fortunate Glass should be on your list.

My partner and I had a wonderful dining experience here last evening We were able to sample a large selection of the outstanding wine selection by ordering ½ glasses(3oz) And although this is primarily know as a wine bar the food stands on its own We enjoyed the outstanding ducks sliders and equally delicious risotto special The meal was concluded with the chefs 3 dessert which included a cheese cake, Tiramisu and a dark chocolate cake Each item was first rate and large enough to be shared The waitstaff were efficient and extremely helpful in answering questions concerning the wine On the weekend reservations are a must

I’ve been here several times and always have a great experience. This time we sat outside and still, had very attentive service. They have a great selection of wines and are knowledgeable about them. A couple I’ve liked so much that I’ve bought them for home elsewhere. The tapas is good too. I absolutely love cheese so I usually get the cheese board, but last night we tried one of the specials, duck confit flatbread. It was just right! Oh, and we had The Prisoner… very good!

Anthony– what a knowledgable man! Ask for him if you’re up for a taste buds adventure!!! The man knows wines and wines love him! We had the flour-less chocolate torte and asked him to take us on a red wine tour– what an experience! It was crowded but definitely lounge relax atmosphere! This is a MUST go place. Girls night out or going out with that special someone– go out and enjoy the night!

This is a wine lover’s wine bar, with a literal cornucopia of options that go beyond the standard«house offerings» of many other local establishments around town. Also includes a small but well-curated selection of craft draft beer for those who lean towards the hops and barley version of fortified beverages. The wife and I stopped in before our dinner reservations elsewhere just to wind down and chill with a good glass of wine. The interior is dark and inviting, with a prominent bar in the middle and a small number of tables closer to the front windows. Just a look at the wine coolers and the wall of wine both adjacent to and behind that bar tells you just about all you need to know here: these guys are serious about wine and will put out options that run the gamut both price-wise and in terms of variety. Our servers were very knowledgeable about their offerings and were happy to answer questions warmly. I was impressed with both the number of options by the glass and the bottles offered here. A true«wine-nerd» could easily«geek out» with the sheer number of options here that include both varietals and small producers. Prices reflect that too, but they are far given the fact that most of this wine isn’t measured by how many«thousands» of cases were produced. We didn’t try anything to eat here, so I can’t comment on the kitchen. But for a pre-dinner drink, or a nice night-cap, this spot surely hits all the right notes. Consider this self-adjudged wine snob duly impressed!
