Soooo good! Inexpensive and delicious. I always get the ¼ chicken (you can ask for white or dark meat) with rice and canary beans. The chicken is seasoned to perfection and if you mix the rice with the flavorful beans, it is just right. I make a sort of Peruvian chicken bowl out of it all. The «white sauce» (kinda yellowy) is great with the chicken. The «green sauce» is fresh and herbaceous. I’m sure they have proper Peruvian names, so I apologize for my plebeian description. The meal is around $ 7.50 and there is always plenty for leftovers. Such a deal!

What a wonderful surprise to find a real Peruvian restaurant in Wilmington! Peru has arguably the best cuisine of Latin America and while this place has no aspirations to equal the best in Lima, it does produce the genuine flavors that make the cuisine so tasty. We had the ají de gallina (excellent) and the pollo saltado. The ají sauces were excellent and just like the ones we had when we lived in Lima years ago. Only negative is no wine or beer is served.

The atmosphere was very authentic and the service was great. The portions are more than enough to get you through the whole day. I ordered the half chicken with platano and yucca fries and was not able to finish it all in one sitting. The sauces that come with the bread and chicken are also delicious. They also had Inca Kola and that just made the meal even more delicious. I will definitely make this my go to lunch spot.

this place is absolutely fabulous!!! My wife and I had the meat lovers thing I forgot the name. it was amazing. the chicken and steak was absolutely wonderful. we also had the two avocados and chicken salad. We will DEFINITELY visit again

Yummers! I’m soo soo stuffed! I got the ¼ chicken with rice, beans, and plantains. It was delicious! I will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu that look good. The lunch special was very affordable at $ 7.25!

Maybe it was an off night but I do not see what is special about this place. The chicken was bland and dry, they have another dish that is basically a potato with some generic/​bland cheese sauce on it. The rice was meh and the fried Yucca was dry… not sure how they accomplished that. The plantains were good but seriously you really can’t mess those up. The service was good and they were friendly so they get an extra star for that.
I would pass on this place in the future.

Wow! I am a big fan of Latin food and this was way up there. Parrillada platter more than enough for two! Great value too. Wish I lived closer. Plantains and yucca fries perfect.

In town and was in dyer need for some latin food, thank goodness our friends knew just the spot, The Golden Chicken! Food was good, friendly staff, quick service. We enjoyed the lomo saltado, tallarines verdes, causa, steak sandwich… only thing off was the huancaina sauce, in my opinion it lacked flavor, other than that great place!

I had «De Pobre» which means ‘of poor’
Steak was chewy but tasty. Fried plantains, fried eggs, salad, n rice. I tried swapping the fries for beans. Waitress was NOT cooperative, so I did order beans for my rice. Extra cost. Minus one star.
No beer, wine or liquor. Minus second star.
Otherwise, food served on nice quantity n was tasty.
Hard To find. Apple maps — which is what Unilocal uses — brought us behind the restaurant behind a wall in an apartment complex. Don’t use Apple maps!

Absolutely delicious and authentic !!! I know about Peruvian food, I’ve worked at an authentic Peruvian restaurant before and let me just say that once that restaurant closed I hadn’t been able to find a GOOD Peruvian restaurant on the whole east coast. From NY to FL I’ve been searching and I finally found it! Enjoyed it it all with my best friend.
The jumping cow «lomo saltado» was the best !!!
We also had arroz chaufa steak
And shrimp ceviche!

We had the ½ chicken with yucca and plantains and the steak de Verde. Both of them were delicious. We are definitely going back. When we got there at 630 pm there was a sign on the door saying they closed at 630 but the owner told us to come on in. They we’re super nice

I’m Peruvian myself, and I must say the food at the golden chicken is amazing. The amount you get for what you pay is completely fair. My girlfriend and I ordered ceviche and Milanese chicken platter. The ceviche was amazing down to the last bite. My girlfriend absolutely loved the chicken, especially the way it was presented. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that is willing to try Peruvian food, or have a curious hunger. Definitely going back

The chicken literally melts in your mouth. It’s so good. I was looking for a quick lunch stop and Unilocaled this place. Was not disappointed. Very fast service and friendly staff. I recommend any chicken dish!
