So great. We’re traveling all over the U.S. Right now. I use Unilocal everywhere. So far it has helped a lot!!! This place was awesome. Fresh. Tasty. People were nice. I asked to change a roll & they stepped up. Made to order. It was delicious!!! I recommend this place for everyone. College students take out. Yum!!!

Was hankering for some sushi and after reading a few Unilocal,we decided on Wasabi Sushi and it did not disappoint. Sushi was very fresh and the spicy crab salad amuse bouche was a surprise and tasty, as was the skewers of teriyaki shrimp. Really enjoyed it and will have to make it a regular stop when we move to ILM! The owner came by our table a few times to check on us and he told us about how long he’s been in the Wilmington area and how only he and another sushi place were the only ones here and now all kinds of places have popped up who have price wars but he doesn’t because he won’t sacrifice the quality. We told him to keep it up as the quality is excellent!

Popped on here for lunch one Monday. Wasabi is immaculately clean and spacious, service very attentive. We both selected the Bento box which is a steal for $ 12.95 each. Soup, salad with delicious homemade ginger dressing and then the entrée. Large tempura fried shrimp and vegetables with a large portion of rice and sushi. The owner brought us out several different hot and dipping sauces when she saw how much we were enjoying everything. The only thing that fell flat was the fried octopus. $ 8 for 5 very tiny and overcooked pieces. We were unable to even cut them they were so rubbery. Would definitely try again but will be skipping this appetizer. Very impressed with the freshness of everything though.

Had dinner here at Wasabi Sushi for the first time, on Christmas Eve. Best dinner date with my wife in ages. We were out shopping and stopped early for dinner, just after 5 pm. We had the place to ourselves, but before long a stream of people started arriving, so we know others like the place. First thing to say is that the décor is simple, well lit, CLEAN, and the place is well located for convenience. We sat at the sushi bar, and were helped immediately, but like I said before we were the first of the dinner crowd to arrive. Service was excellent. The staff went to great lengths to make sure we enjoyed our dinner, and even provided a couple appetizers on the house. I haven’t had the Royal treatment around town in some time, and to feel like you are truly a guest at a restaurant is so rare these days. The sushi was fantastic, with very fresh Uni(sea urchin roe) being a deliciously decadent and creamy treat. I rarely order it any more because it doesn’t keep well and can be a real let down at many sushi bars in the area. The Dragon roll was awesome. The Tobiko was fresh and snappy, and I hate to admit I forget the name of another roll I had, but it had no rice, just Tomago, spicy tuna, avocado and was wrapped with nori and a crisp thin layer of cucumber on the outside. That roll was fantastic. We also had couple different types of Kim chi that were wonderful, but obviously toned down a bit for American palates. I had hot green tea, and my wife had the house Chardonnay, neither of which were anything to get all excited about, but that’s not what we were there for. Both my wife and I were all smiles when we left Wasabi Sushi, and we can’t wait to go back. The other menu items look great, and I would love to go at lunch and get an Udon bowl. Definitely worth a five star rating.

My friends from Japan even remarked on how authentic and delicious this place was. They offer variety, and a very nice atmosphere. Definitely one of the best places in town!

LIES! They are not open till 10pm! Try and go in at 9:20 and person says«closed». The door says 9:30pm and still was not allowed to place in order. Overall a huge let down

Excellent fresh and tasty sushi, with complimentary extras like the spicy crab salad and small skewers of shrimp. Favorites are In & Out Salmon, Alaskan, Dragon, and Caterpillar rolls. Service is attentive and prompt. On our last visit they noticed how much we like eel and brought a complimentary side of eel in sauce that was delicious. Hidden in the back of a small strip mall, this place is worth seeking out. We’ve been several times and will be back.

Unfortunately we haven’t been since my wife and I were dating but it’s still just as good as years ago. The two waitresses working tonight worked very cohesively together. One was always there at the right time. Chief sent out a spicy crab salad with our sake which was a nice touch. After our rolls and sashimi came out he also sent out a complementary sample of the special tonight which was scoured shrimp with spring onions in an amazing sauce. Very good customer service and sushi. It’s kind of a hidden gem off of College Rd by Bdobo and Rack’m Billards but well worth finding.

After a bad experience at Genki(see other review), a friend and I came here for a late lunch. We started with the Gyoza(beef dumpling) which was fried just enough. I have had this dish at many locations and their sauce is the best(by far!) it is a complex flavor with a garlicky kick. We then shared the Sushi Deluxe which is 12 pieces of Nigiri, tuna roll(choice of California, Salmon or Tuna), miso and salad w/ginger dressing. Sometimes I like ginger dressing and sometimes it is to strong for me. Despite there being a lot of it, it was very good. The fish was VERY fresh and the eel was cooked to perfection. They also had a decent selection of unfiltered sakes to choose from. We choose the Nigori. Just as we were finishing up we were surprised with a bowl of complimentary crab salad which was tasty. I’m guessing it was imitation crab, spicy mayo and masago over a bed of julienned cucumber. And last but not least, cthe cutest little half orange in a peel boat with a peel umbrella! If I lived in NC, I would be a regular here. Check it out and you’re sure to be satisfied!

This is by far the best sushi restaurant in Wilmington. The fish is always fresh tasting and of high quality, unlike most other locations around. I’ve tried several places in Wilmington, and before Wasabi I would go to Genki’s. After Genki’s management turned over, their quality and portions began to diminish. There is no comparison in this town if you appreciate quality sushi. You can also find uni on certain days. This place does not advertise, mainly because they don’t have to, but also because they want to attract loyal customers that know and understand sushi quality. I like to get the sashimi special and the crab salad which is usually enough dinner for two if you add soup. Prices are comparable to other places in town, but like I said the quality is superior by a long shot.

Really good sushi. Was not expecting it to be this tasty and fresh based on first looks. I got the Wilmington Roll which had shrimp tempura and cucumber on the inside with crab on the top and it was very filling and delicious. I also ordered the gyoza dumplings and those were really good. They also had very good kimchi as well and were all very friendly there. Highly recommend.

Wow this was my first and last time at this place… This place gave us a tiny little roll and charged us $ 10!!! Joke! Then they didn’t put eel sauce and the hostess said they did! So I went back to the restaurant to get my sauce… Not good service not good rolls

Best sushi in town. I always get monkey balls, spicy ramen, and tempura ice cream. Everything on the menu is made traditionally and professionally.

Absolute the worst service ever, there are lots of other sushi places in the area, choose any one of them. They took forever to bring me my 10 pieces of sushi, there was only one other person in the restaurant, and I had to call the hostess over three times before I was acknowledged. The hostess argued and yelled at me and told me that I was wrong because I didn’t tell them to put no wasabi on my order and that ALL other sushi places I’ve ever been to(and I go for sushi several times a week all over North America) are making it incorrectly and they are making it right. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully and won’t be going back there again. Ever. If I could give them a less than one star I would. No one deserves to be treated in such a manner.

Very good and impressed by the taste. The sushi chef sampler was really good, with a lot of different fish(and 2 eels ;). The service was really very friendly, everything went smooth and as expected. With some fun and casual ambiance. The owner seems very kind. The only downside is that –at least for the sushi– they are pricy. $ 25 for 11 sushis and a roll is not cheap even if the quality is there. It’s not a big deal but it’s probably making this place more a «event place» than a weekly one. But I will def go back !

Fresh traditional sushi, great service We came for sushi specifically, and will be back to try the Korean entrees… Sushi rolls range from $ 6 – 13, nigiri $ 2 – 4 per piece Ambiance: small strip mall, but very cozy and bright inside Service: very prompt and gracious. Given the warm greetings on entry, I have a sneaking suspicion that Wasabi Sushi is locally owned and run Food: Apps — seaweed salad and miso soup were both good — spicy crab salad was a nice touch of spicy to start off the meal Rolls — my overall criticism is that the rolls weren’t «rolled» together tight enough so they just fell apart in the plate, and the sushi rice was a bit too mushy but still tasted great spider roll — definitely solid, but I wish there was a bit more soft shell crab Alaskan roll — delicious fried roll, a must try! Spicy salmon and Avocado roll — great blend of delicate spices with fresh salmon Overall would recommend for a casual sushi dinner or lunch. Will definitely be back.
