Matty’s Pizzeria

After a soccer match I took my kids here (2 & 5) because the only other «quick» place in town wouldn’t take credit cards but this place does. I ordered 2 cheese quesadillas and a steak salad. They told me it would be 25 minutes, which seemed to be pretty long but I agreed to wait in the car while they made it. 45 minutes later they still hadn’t come out to deliver our order, despite checking in several times. Finally I came in to just cancel as they came out with the food. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want a quick bite.

I found this place via Unilocal when visiting the area. They are located at the intersection in building style that is only ever in small towns. The entrance was in from the corner. According to their menu they make their own dough and freshly shred the mozzarella. They also had large bread rolls, brownies (see pic) and even their own dog biscuits (I didn’t try these).
I’ll have to say that they make one hell of a white pizza. They didn’t have what I wanted on the menu but they had all the ingredients to make it and it came out completely de-​lish. I ordered a Garlic White pizza with Spinach and Mushrooms. One of the advantages of places which make subs as well as pizza… extra ingredients.
While waiting for my pie, I checked out the décor. The seating area seats about 12 so probably not good for a group. The owner of this place really loves trains, There is a model train track above the waiting area (see pic) and there is a vertical display cabinet with all sorts of local memorabilia & train related items in one corner.
The pizza was just the way I like it, the outer crust was crispy and lightly browned with no burnt hotspots. The bottom of the pie was uniformly cooked and the bread under the cheese was moist and not soggy and the cheese not super oily so they were using a low moisture mozzarella, The garlic was real and not the powder stuff that most places use and they didn’t skimp on it. I had garlic in every bite. The order came with a box of garlic knots that like the pizza had garlic chunks not powder. The knots were evenly cooked with a soft pretzel consistency with butter and garlic. I had them for lunch with the brownie the following day. After I ate the brownie I really wished for more. I was about 20 miles away by then and saved from several hours of extra working out because of that. ** Willpower less than Chocolately goodness! **

I don’t know what happened, but my husband has been increasingly disappointed with this place, and the pizza we had this weekend tasted really off. It was okay as a leftover reheated in the oven the next day, but we won’t be ordering again. My husband didn’t even enjoy his wings.
The cost is comparable to Mark’s ($$) and as much as I like Mark’s, that isn’t even worth the price to me anymore.

The pizza was excellent! The ingredients were very fresh. I recommend the supreme, and the price was right!!!
