Food ok, average price, typical Asian Fusion restaurants. Service is very poor, pretty much destroying the mood to enjoy the food.

If I could assign this restaurant one word, it would be «inconsistent». For about a year, my family has been ordering Chinese food from this restaurant without issue. Having now eaten-in at this restaurant 3 times, it is clear that the take-out customers and those ordering from the Chinese menu are the priority. First off, the restaurant is FREEZING. During all 3 visits, it was evident that most patrons were electing to keep their jackets on due to the restaurant’s obscenely low temperature. At all 3 visits, I ordered predominantly from the sushi-portion of the menu. My first visit went well — no real issues with food or service. The second visit went just okay — our appetizers came at the conclusion of our meal. My third and(I’m confident saying) final visit was by far the worst experience due to a variety of factors. My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant for Valentine’s Day dinner. I’d placed a reservation a few days prior, so we were seated immediately(not that the restaurant was extremely crowded anyway). We each ordered a soup to start and a total of 6 sushi rolls(1 to share, the rest for our individual meals). The hot soups came quickly, which helped us combat the cold temperature for a short time, as did the roll that we intended to share. Following this, though, a full hour passed before we saw the rest of our food. We watched numerous takeout patrons come and go with their food, as well as many other sit-in patrons(some of whom had been seated after us) receive their Chinese food orders. Our server regularly came over to apologize for the wait, but did not give us any indication as to why there was such a delay. Eventually, our server brought us over a Kani Salad(which wasn’t very good at all) and a glass of wine for each of us on the house, which we appreciated until we finally got the remainder of the food we’d actually ordered and became aware of why it had taken so long. The fish in our rolls was borderline FROZEN, which means that the restaurant had somehow run out of their«fresh» stuff and our server was simply buying time while the fish they served us took the time to defrost. This being the case, how can it be assumed that ANY of their sushi is fresh? We left feeling disappointed, very cold, and somewhat disgusted. I WOULDNOT recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in anything other than taking-out Chinese food, as this seems to be the only way to guarantee a good meal.

I can’t believe Hunan café been in Wilton for over 10 yrs. I love this place there Chinese food is «wonderful» and the appetizers are amazing especially there dumplings with peanut sauce it’s out of this world. There sushi is very good I had a volcano roll and it was fantastic and they have sake & alcohol that’s a big plus for me. This place is very clean and especially there bathroom. They also have great customer service I love there take-out lady Christine I guess she’s been there forever & she is forever being nice and so polite and also the manager Jay. I now go there like 3 – 4 times a week there take out is fast and still as great. And there prices is very very reasonable I advise you try there food you will be hook like I am.

Solid choice for a local sushi restaurant. I go once a week. Sit at the sushi bar and be nice, you might get a special treat!

The food is always incredible and they always have interesting specials. I don’t think most people realize they also have a full service bar with 6 or so seats and awesome drink specials. The staff is eager to please and always makes you feel welcome. Since many kitchens in Wilton close early, you can count on Hunan to be open, accommodating and serving delicious and fresh food.

Consistently good food, but the last time I was there it was very poor service. Made a reservation for our holiday lunch, we were seated but have been waiting 25 –30 mins for someone to come to our table and greet us. Even after flagging them down several times. Not to mention they didn’t give us enough menus or waters. We were so hungry once they did come(after asking them to) that we ordered right away and still no one asked to take our drink order. Unfortunately, we had a big holiday party, so we were the wrong table to neglect, although the manager has been kind enough to inform me they were understaffed that day. The food is good and since the management of the restaurant contacted me concerned for my original review. I will be back for another experience because he followed up with me and my colleagues.

We had a great meal here in e night with chicken& broccoli and a soup and some Sushi, with very attentive service as well. We then went back a couple of weeks later and ordered very similar dishes but it was not as good as he first time. However, we’d go back again. The interior is quite nice and a little deceiving compared to the exterior store front signage.

This place frustrates me. When i go and they’re firing on all pistons, the food is awesome. The thing is, you never know if today is going to be that day. They have no on line menu. Can’t imagine why in this day and age. The sushi chef is sometimes there and sometimes«vacationing in China». So you might go jonesing for sushi only to find out that your chef is 4000 miles away. We really only go when Reiki is closed, because its so uneven. Its a shame… they could be so much more.

Much better than average Chinese food. I’ve been eating food from here for the majority of my life and I have to say even though ownership changed hands a couple times their sesame chicken and lo mein are still best in the area. My go to Chinese food when I’m home visiting family! Will see you guys soon :)

This place is convenient, since it’s in a good location for people who are on lunch breaks or getting a bite to eat while running errands. The egg rolls are bigger than any Asian restaurants I’ve been to. I will warn you that this place serves entrees that are really greasy though. I don’t think one can go wrong with any of the foods on the menu. I give it a 3.5 stars rating.

I come here every Christmas eve, its a tradition i’ve had since I was in high school and Hunan café delivers quality Chinese food every year. Here is the problem that I have and part of it might be the fact that I only eat here on Christmas Eve, the service is sub-par as it takes about a hour for the food to come, and considering that I watch a movie every year after Hunan, it is still a problem that I am in a time crunch. But other then that, its not the best Chinese food around but its pretty good, and I will still come here every Christmas Eve.

Around here it’s easily one of the better asian food places. I like their dumplings, all the chinese dishes are nice, not too greasy or mushy. I like the wine selection and service, easy parking. But they get extra points for their sushi — fish is standard but I appreciate how thin the rice is around it. I hate those rolls with ton of rice. Definitely worth a try!

Have stopped here for lunch on many occasions now, and not been disappointed. Simple Chinese fare but that taste fresh and presented extremely well, but still at take-out Chinese pricing. Best hot & sour I have had in ages short of Chinatown, NY. Excellent Singapore noodles.

I am so disappointed at the other reviews! This is my favorite Chinese place probably ever. The staff is really nice and greet us warmly when we come in. I grew up with this restaurant and it hasn’t changed at all! I just love this place. Great food and fast service!

If I could even begin to describe the spectacular quality of this café… Not only are they able to encompass the relative need for a oriental cultural environment, but they are also professionally staffed and trained to give you the ultimate dining experience. I recommend this café to all my friends who visit Wilton and none of them have been disappointed. In fact, they were so impressed they went again the next day!

This is very clean and cheap and I like it. Not too far from our Wilton office so I come here about once a week and they have yet to disappoint me with their food. Represent! Just kidding. They do have this lunch special daily and it only comes out to be 6 – 8 bucks so it’s definitely worth it and it’s well decorated and clean, a word you rarely associate with Chinese restaurants but it’s true.

This is my 3rd update review for them in less than 6 months… I think given the nice, clean setting and the pleasant(roomy) interior, the lunch special here is a great deal… Around here, even a sandwich shop will cost you ~$ 7, yet their lunch special menu runs from $ 6-$ 8… I like the #4 Chicken w/garlic sauce and #5 chicken w/broccoli. both comes with soup and rice…(#4 tastes better in my opinion) at the end, tax and tip included comes out to $ 7+… I will be back! ^_^
