Just found out that GD closed two weeks ago. I am sad that I will not be able to have the Most Delicious Cinnamon Roll in the World ever again.

I love that this place exists in Wimberley. My four lady friends and I were on a girls’ trip in Dubtown and might have had a leetle too much fun at the CCC(that’s Cypress Creek Café to y’all out-of-towners) and had a hangover that only fried chicken could cure. The Fried Chicken ‘n Waffles absolutely delivered: moist on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Their waffle maker had just done broke, so they fixed me up with a pancake. I made a fried chicken pancake sandwich with it and all was well. For the healthy-minded, there are things like Greek yogurt and granola. Or, you could order their biscuit(the size of my face) or the ooey gooey cinnamon roll. These are much more fun options. Coffee is strong and the servers are sassy. The only place I will eat breakfast in Weird Wimberley from now on. Stretchy pants and a carefree attitude are highly recommended.

Stopped in for Sunday brunch and it was delish! I had the eggs benedict and my fiancé had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The hollandaise sauce was amazing and the eggs poached perfectly. The chicken fried steak had the most perfect crispy batter. The wait staff was polite even though they were extremely busy. We will definitely be back. Yum!

the goodnight diner is a neat little diner tucked away on the west side of RR12. it has a diner feel but the food has a gourmet touch. I have eaten there regularly for about 4 months and really enjoy the food and the great waitstaff. Jenna(* the chef) is very sweet and takes great pains to serve up delicious and wholesome fare. My favorites(besides the made from scratch cobblers and pies) is chicken and dumplings with cornbread and the chicken and waffle. and I am picky about tea– the Goodnight has great iced tea if you are parched(some places have that algae smell) but not here. well worth a visit and priced right– nice patio for cooler evenings. check it out.

Wow. Met some local friends here for lunch based on their recommendation and it blew away my expectations(based on the town, the looks of the place, and the name). Had the Sriracha Fried Chicken and Waffles — fantastic! It was one big chicken cutlet that was incredibly moist inside. The crispy exterior was great as well, although, as one reviewer mentioned, it wasn’t as Sriracha-y as I expected. The waffles were as good as I’ve ever had as well. Tried my wife’s pork belly sandwich and it was pretty damn good. Last but not least, the mixed berry cobbler and apple pie was out of this world. One of the best unexpected great meals I’ve had in Texas. Would definitely come here again.

Gross food !!! Sorry to say that we were very disappointed in the food at this little restaurant. I got the meat loaf and my husband got the pork chops. The food was just awful! It was served up nicely, but these dishes were worse than bad. The pork chops were dry and tough, covered with a sauce that tasted like burned glue. The meatloaf had the texture of canned dog food and was tasteless with a sauce that tasted like dishwater. When we complained, the waiter said«That’s too bad.» and took our barely touched plates. He promptly returned with our bill. When I questioned him he said no one ever complains! There was never even an offer that the cook prepare something else or reduce or bill. I was flabbergasted that there was no attempt to keep our business. I don’t think they’ll be there long, just like the last 15 cafes and restaurants that have occupied that space.

To make a long review short, the Goodnight Diner serves up some of the best food I’ve had in my life! Everything is made from scratch. Everything has amazing flavor. Everything there is imaginative and unexpected. Everything there makes me happy! I highly recommend the meatloaf(served with grits and collard greens). The chocolate malt cake sends me into a euphoic state that no narcotic could ever approach. Plus, everyone who works at the Goodnight goes way out of their way to be friendly and to make you feel comfortable. So, if you’re currently in Wimberley searching Unilocal reviews, trying to figure out where to eat, stop looking and make a bee-line to the Goodnight! If you happen to live in the Austin/San Antonio area, it’s worth the trip all the way to Wimberley just to go to the Goodnight. Now, if the owner/chef of the Goodnight happens to be reading my humble review, might I challenge you to add the following things to the menu. I would LOVE to see whatt your interpretation of these items would be: — Onion Rings — Corn Fritters — Cuban Sandwich — Caprese Salad — Loco Moco(from Hawaii, of course)

My boyfriend, a couple of our friends, and I came here for lunch over the weekend while we were in town for a wedding. It doesn’t look like much, but looks can be deceiving because it was amazing!!! One friend got their chicken and waffles and it was probably some of the best fried chicken I’ve had. Amazing flavor, tender, and super juicy. The other friend got the chicken and dumplings. He said the chicken was fall apart tender and it was perfectly seasoned and balanced. My boyfriend had the pork belly sandwich. He liked it and the fresh fries were very yummy. I had the house salad and a cup of potato leek soup. The salad was delicious and had smokey pancetta and candied pecans in it. My soup was a nice consistency and had a wonderful flavor, too. We all walked away wishing we lived closer and vowing to make the drive down again sometime soon just to eat here again. If you are in or near Wimberly, you NEED to eat here. Seriously.

The Goodnight Diner is a great place to dine out in Wimberley and worth a drive south from Dripping Springs. The food is delicious — I’ve dined there several times in the last couple of months, tried something different every time, and always been impressed. The meatloaf is especially delicious, and the appetizers are all excellent as well. Every item on the menu is an inspired rendition of classic diner fare, and the culinary quality is all the more remarkable given the extremely affordable prices. Portions are abundant(save room for the home-made desserts — they’re worth it!) and the staff is unbelievably courteous, attentive, and unobtrusive. Try it! The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it’s so down-to-earth and unpretentious.

Wow! One of my neighbors told us about this place. We moved here from Chicago and we don’ t miss our eating out neighborhood experiences like we feared and this place is one reason why. Food and service are informed and professional mixed with Texas friendliness. The bread is all made on site and the tastes are modern Southwest cum comfort food. Look forward to eating here a lot.

Absolutely delicious! Everything is made in house(even the ketchup and pickles!), and it’s just so good. Everything I’ve had was delicious and I cannot wait to go back.

I really regret not visiting The Goodnight Diner while it was open in Drippin’ Springs. For most of the year I don’t eat dinner except on special occasions so the limited evening hours they had didn’t work for me. Then, they closed and moved to Wimberley! You guessed it a lunch menu review forthcoming; this time without the boy cruising south just before work. The location has proved death for previous establishments; but perhaps with the GND at the helm it just might make a good run. The space is mostly kitchen with a few tables inside so I chose a spot overlooking the small patio. Behind the space is someones daring yet failed vision of a bustling tourist stop complete with miniature golf course and hopeful renters eager to display antiques. I picked a soup to test the waters. Brilliant flavors on the garlic and potato soup, the dish begged for colorful herbs and black pepper. Where can you get chicken and waffles in Wimberley? Goodnight good Sir! I thought the batter was a bit overdone and the advertised kick of Schracha missing, but the bird was moist as can be. Damn fine waffle as well, bourbon flavor missing from the syrup. Flavors have to match up with the description so a decent showing with amazing potential. What is the formula for making a successful restaurant in this town? Much like Drippin’ few have perfected the craft of luring in diners for more than a few years without folding. Take my advice and think age considerate portions and local everything. Goodnight Diner happily has a good start in my hood perhaps keeping us country folk and a few more days out of the big city.
