My bubbly wanted to try it Daine’s over Papermill Pace. We both agreed later, not a good choice. Serves was good, food was so so. Wouldn’t be back.

Breakfast is good, but pricing is confusing. The price of sliced tomatoes seems to depend on which waitress you get. Yesterday(12 – 19), waitress told me that, if I wanted sliced tomatoes instead of home fries, there would be no charge, but if I wanted sliced tomatoes in addition to home fries, that would be an extra 49 cents(which is what the menu says). Today(12 – 20), I ordered exactly the same thing and different waitress charged me $ 1.69 for the sliced tomatoes(3 slices). When I questioned it, she said the 49-cent charge was if you wanted to get ONE slice of tomato(«like on a hamburger,» she said) but since I ordered the«side» of tomatoes(exact words I used yesterday), she had to charge me for a vegetable serving, which was $ 1.69. I say, 49 cents for ONE slice of tomato on a burger seems rather steep and, really, the notice that«add tomatoes — 49 cents» is directly underneath the BREAKFAST menu — nowhere near the burgers and sandwiches portion of the menu. Overall, prices are reasonable and food is pretty good, but beware if you want a sliced tomato on your burger — one slice will cost you 49 cents(according to the waitress today) and 3 slices for breakfast will cost you more than 50 cents for EACH slice. Good idea to talk to the waitress BEFORE you order the sliced tomatoes to find out how much you will be paying for them.

We stopped in for lunch after a morning of apple picking. The BLT was excellent according to my wife. The bacon was crispy and generous, the tomato was ripe and seemed homegrown. My Sirloiner burger was obviously made with hand patted hamburgers but the bun literally fell apart at the first bite and there was a lack of seasoning. The service was attentive although the couple sitting next to us said it was slow when they arrived and they did not recommend the French Toast. It was an okay visit but there is obvious room for improvement.

My wife and I decided to give this place a shot after hearing this place used to be the Amherst. Granted, we loved the Amherst(and think they should have taken the sign with them to the new location), but the place was claustrophobic. But they have moved on and and moved here. That being said, I think the business has grown and with it the menu, which was a nice touch. I had a New York strip and eggs, my wife the French toast — both were great and worth making the trip here for. What shoots this down, however, is the ramshackle ambiance of the place; the Amherst had it all built in given its age, so that was understandable. But this place is a newer facility; it shouldn’t look like reused card tables and chairs from the Salvation Army down the street. The last is the cliquishness of the waitstaff, which has been well documented. Our waitress screwed up our drinks(my wife asked for a water and didn’t get it; likewise, the waitress brought us two coffees — but I ordered a Coke) and seemed to spend more time with the regulars. All in all, go for the food; it’s great and worth it. But don’t expect on-the-ball staff. If you’re a regular, have at it, but otherwise, put this on your secondary list.

In for breakfast. Found the staff a bit unfocused and the food no better than fair. Took 30 minutes to cook scrambled eggs with dried out sausage. Not busy but slow kitchen. Must do better to bring us back.

I enjoyed eating here for dinner recently. Good portions and good variety. Its a good place to find a good home cooked meal at a decent price.

Welcome to a diner with a customer base who might look up from their conversations to see if they recognize you. I found if you give them a smile and continue the path to your table it’s a fine interaction. But let’s talk breakfast! I love it! The cook makes the eggs and potatoes just as you like. You can’t beat the home fries. Diane’s Diner is a go to for breakfast. Love the local story to this one too.

I don’t know what happened between the old Amherst Diner and here, but I went today, and can assure you I will NEVER be returning!!! As soon as I walked in, I was glared at by the customer base as if I were not welcome, and two customers kept glaring at me the whole time I was in there. Personally, I think the should just go ahead and change the name of this from Diane’s Diner to «The Club», because that is literally what it is… the staff favors the regulars, and the regulars stare you down if you’re not one of them. Service could have been better, and we observed one of the waitresses using a profanity right behind us in the dining area of the restaurant. We also observed servers complaining in front of us and other customers, which is insanely unprofessional. Food was mediocre at best. For what you get, Papermill(even though not my top choice in town) is far better… or better yet… just go to Cracker Barrel.
