The chai is amazing but the drinks really depend who makes them. The prices are high! Great atmosphere and aesthetics. Nice to have a local café that’s not Starbucks!

Rustic, old-school coffee roaster in Winchester Virginia. I’m in town visiting and will make sure to stop there each day I’m here.

Nice«hole in the wall» coffee/record shop. I recommend the pressed dark roast or hot tea… two items I’m kinda snobby about and love both here.

Hands down best coffee in Winchester. Coffee — to those that worship at its dark, fragrant feet — is so much more than a simple addiction. It’s a love affair. Hopscotch is therefore really best categorized as a matchmaker — not a coffee house. Imagine the late, great Barry Fitzgerald’s character in the 1952 John Wayne film, Quiet Man«Michaleen Oge Flynn»(a character from the days when characters needed middle names). Like an Irish matchmaker, Hopscotch won’t be rushed, but will always find the right match. And, if like a certain Irish matchmaker, you find your mouth is like a dry crust and the sun is that hot on me pâté… then come on by and get what you need.

Everything about this place screams craftsmanship. The woods used to create the bar and various other accoutrements. The time taken to French press each batch of coffee. Even the setting around the roaster, seemingly positioned to provide demonstration of their beloved bean baking technique. All of it translates into a great experience and wonderful products that will quickly find a way into your morning routine.

What a pleasant surprise! I was very impressed with Hopskotch. It’s nice that Winchester has some solid options when it comes to coffee. The coffee here is excellent and the atmosphere is very chill. The downstairs section is not to be missed. Sit back, relax, and enjoy your fresh brew.

Absolute favorite coffee shop in town! Great place to get some studying done while enjoying a great cup of coffee. When they are roasting the beans, the aroma fills up the entire place and it’s delightful. They also offer a few baked goods for all of you out there with a sweet tooth.

Excellent coffee. The best you’re going to find in this area of Virginia. Great atmosphere; very quant and homie with a very relaxed décor. Doubles as a record store and they have a solid selection. They also host bands and put on shows. This is the place to hang in Winchester.

Awesome coffee made by friendly staff in a really rad shop. Couldn’t ask for better! Pour overs and French press and espresso were all great.

Their daily drip coffee is amazing — one of the best cups I’ve had in the US. Great cappuccino as well.

Wonderfully smooth, full-bodied espresso. The atmosphere is retro and awesome – lots of seating and space. Love the record room to the left of the cash register. Highly recommended! No better coffee in the Winchester area. I’ll be back here as often as I pass through town.

Stopped in for coffee this afternoon. My wife’s capucino was solid. My americano was weak, but had a nice flavor. The front of the shop where you order your drinks is small, but nice, with a trendy coffee bar vibe. The barrista was very friendly and took his time making the drinks. The record section is also small, with only a modest selection of records. But, its an unusual and not uninteresting addition to a coffee bar. The seating area in back, down a half flight of stairs is large, but needs some attention. There’s a difference between stylishly cluttered and just junky. The seating is nice. But all around the room are random piles of stuff. 4 brooms and a couple dustpans in a pile along a wall. Two boxes, one with the top open and its contents partially out and scattered around a bit. The area roped off for roasting beans included miscellaneous items scattered around and racks ascew(hard to ignore since it takes up 1⁄3 of the room, and you stare right at it as you walk down the stairs). I realize these are all minor things. It just gives a sloppy feel though, and takes away from the general good vibe the rest of the place gives. …and its so easy to fix… just take 5 minutes to straighten up. Still, a good place with good coffee. We’ll probably go back.

Being a barista, I respect the art of coffee. At hopscotch you get the genuine coffee shop vibe and craftsmanship of a latte. I’ve never had a bad experience here and they are always friendly. Although some occasions you have to wait a bit as there’s only 1 barista. I don’t know about you but I don’t mind waiting on a good cup of coffee.

First and foremost I will say that I LOVE coffee, and I always look for local shops wherever I go. I have lived in 8 states, and traveled to most of the others, and Hopscotch roasts the coffee beans on side, and uses local milk. I am so glad my boyfriend stumbled across this gem as it has quickly become my all-time favorite coffee. The baristas are all very consistent in the way they make drinks, and they are all very well informed about the coffee! I really enjoy every visit I make to Hopscotch, and I am always raving about it and recommending it to others. I even buy a bag of coffee now and then to make when I can’t get to the shop in Winchester. These folks care about their coffee, and this passion comes through in excellent coffee, excellent service, and and excellent atmosphere.

The coffee is excellent and the owner truly has a passion for coffee. Latte art for those who get latte’s, etc. French pressed coffee is what you’ll get if you order a coffee to go, which is much richer and fuller than a normal drip coffee. The only thing I did not like was the setup. It’s very awkward for people when they come in; there’s no room for standing around and if you want to go to the sitting area, you’ll have to squeeze by the line of anxious coffee people and the counter. So it’s mostly a place for a quick cup of coffee to go. There are a few tables and counters in an adjacent room, but nothing super cozy.

From the time that I walked in today a smile was on my face. Such a unique place such wonderful coffee I loved it. I would say they make some of the best coffee that I have ever tasted we always try to pick up a pound of some of their varieties of coffee and grind them at home now that I know the location and know how close it to my home I will never visit a Starbucks again. The area downstairs they have for relaxing listening to music playing on your computer and enjoying the coffee is awesome right next-door is a wonderful record store with old records you’ll never find. I will be back very soon for future updates but in my opinion this is one of the best coffee facilities coffee houses that I have ever been to. i applauded them for the ideas the decorations and for the wonderful service Winchester doesn’t know what they have yet but they soon will please take time to go there and enjoy a very fine cup of coffee

Stopped in for coffee this morning while running around on errands. Great coffee, nice ambiance and feels very comfortable — there’s even a side-attached record store, great for collectors, hipsters and the shabby chic crowd. Only skitch I saw was that their menuboard says«vittles», which implies a full menu… and all I saw was pastries and the like. Innocent mistake, I’m sure. All in all, bucketloads better than Daily Grind or Starbucks and very much worth the stop!

The folks at Hopscotch Coffee Roasters take their art seriously and it shows. They’ve been roasting for awhile now, but just opened this location at their formerly top secret roasting laboratory. Now you can enjoy a tasty caffeinated beverage while you relax on a sofa and watch their roaster turn green coffee beans into black gold. They also so have a boutique record shop in house. Amazing coffee and a super chill place to hangout. Stroll or pedal on over now! Seriously good coffee!
