With my recent return visit to Sebastopol, I am reminded of several notable places that I did not manage to yet review. Michael Devlin’s little jewelry shop is one of them and it is a find. This is not a jewelry store. Michael is a craftsman and designer. He makes his pieces in the back. We just happened to drop in one day ten or eleven years ago. My wife and I liked his pieces. He has a unique style that is both modern and classic. His pieces are all custom-made. So we saw a design we liked and he made a ring for her. When she needed a special pair of earrings for our wedding, Michael made a beautiful platinum piece. He also sold us my wedding band, though he did not make it — it is just a plain band. Michael was very helpful with the design and very open to our vision of what we wanted. But when I had a piece made for my wife as a surprise and did not have her input on the design, he helped me visualize the options with sketches and sample photo so that we could come up with something beautiful. Now he has computer software to visualize and I imagine to process is even more fun. On top of it all, given that they are hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind, his pieces are a great value.
