WORSTSERVICE I’VEEVERRECEIVED. It was date night– we chose this place based on good reviews and even made a reservation. We arrived at the time of our reservation where we found a table with our name on it, but no one greeted us so we eventually just sat ourselves. 15(FIFTEEN) minutes later, after we went to the bar and asked for service, a waiter showed up and got our order. They didn’t apologize, smile, welcome us, tell us about the menu, mention their name, or even suggest any drinks or entrees… Just said«what do you want to drink and eat?» A few minutes pass and a waitress brings us water. Then our original waiter brings us 2 more glasses of water. They obviously didn’t communicate about who has which table. We had to remind the waiter to bring our salads, and 45 minutes later, we received our food. The food was excellent but the service was horrific. I’ve worked in the food industry for 5 years and I was so disappointed in the lack of effort on their part. A group of 5 people came in and asked us if they were supposed to seat themselves or if a hostess seated them… We told them that we had been waiting 45 minutes for our food and that if they were hungry, they shouldn’t eat there. They left. I would usually feel bad or sorry for them if they were trying hard and apologetic, but they were not anywhere close to doing either of those things, so I don’t feel bad. It shouldn’t take an hour and a half to eat a single course meal…

Very good food and service. Tomato bisque was excellent. My wife enjoyed the pork cutlets. The blackberry reduction was perfect. Nice to visit a local restaurant!

A while back, we returned to Winfield to visit family and friends. My father took a group of us out to this place for dinner one evening. It was a neat looking place, both inside and out, and a great location — right on Main &9th downtown. The concept of «American Food» was a good one for there in the heartland where traditions stand long and fast and would ring true to local customers. The wait staff was friendly and did a fine job. To be fair, we did not eat breakfast here, and that might have been an entirely different experience. However, on this night, this is how it was. When the food came out… it was like being thrown through a time warp back into the beginning black and white footage of the WIzard of Oz. Looking around the table after our plates had just been brought out, our teenage daughter whispered into my ear, «Mom, the food’s all grey here.» Sure enough, everything was, well, rather grey scale and monotone. Not even a colorful side salad would have done much to cheer up that table. Where were the Kansas sunflowers, the bright skies, the sunsets, the garden produce we’d just had a a farm friend’s house the night before? American Classic foods, like meatloaf and country fried steak, does not have to throw one’s stomach back to post-war 1950’s, dear Winfield folk. Comfort food does not have to all be tan. So, back to the food… I got the country fried steak, which once in a while, can be a fabulous treat. This was not. I’ve had worse, but I’ve most definately had better. And on the plate along side the country fried steak was(no choice of sides) the obligatory mashed potatoes and gravy, corn(canned by the taste of it) and a white flour roll which was for sure not homemade. Looking around the table, it was much the same. Folks, there are some really great farms and gardens just a couple of miles from you. Aren’t there any farmers markets in Cowley Country by now? Buy yourself some fresh ‘maters, sweet potatoes, real green beans, squash and onions, fresh corn on the coband cucumbers. Fresh produce, not somthing from cans. Brighten up your palette and the palates of your customers! Bring Cowley County into the dazzling color film part of the Wizard of Oz! Buy yourself some good local produce and become the delight of Winfield. Kansas is not grey. Brighten it up, folks and shine like some of those lovely prairie sunsets.

We’re in town for the Walnut Valley Festival and we were looking for a place to eat breakfast. Happy to find a cute restaurant inside and out. We were equally happy to see reasonable prices! They allowed my daughter and I to share the all-you-can-eat pancakes and bacon, which shocked me. We didn’t even need to get a refill as one plate was enough for us both! My husband got the breakfast burrito, which was the best I’ve ever eaten. Everything was exceptional! The service was great, the food was awesome and the price was right. We will make this our annual breakfast stop for Walnut Valley Festival, and you should too!

Love the food here but it always takes forever to get it even when it’s sandwich. I would give it 5 if they were faster.

Over Thanksgiving Chef Robert prepared an excellent traditional dinner for our group. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, etc. everything beautifully cooked, served hot by the two friendly waitresses. Before the main meal he presented us with several appetizers, shrimps and a raw veggie plate. We will be back!

Nice place and service on the corner of Main/9th. Dropped by for pie and coffee– coconut cream pie was suggested. They forgot to mention it was frozen.
