This football stadium and facility has drastically improved over the years. I attended NC State football games at the old Groves Stadium and it was lacking. Now, there is a huge jumbotron and the press box is magnificent. Honestly, it looks like two completely different stadiums. If your alma mater or college football team is playing Wake Forest this is a nice away stadium to visit. It is not in the best part of Winston Salem so keep that in mind.

Overall the stadium is really nice with convenient features. They are well organized and it being my first time at a game I was able to find my parking lot easily. They also put out port-a-potties for the tailgaters which is a nice touch. The lines to get inside the gates moved quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful in showing you to your seats. The food at the game was pretty good for concessions. I had their BBQ sliders which was three different ones for 7 bucks. It was all of the same BBQ just 2 had other kinds of coleslaw. I liked the Asian coleslaw the best but the regular one was good as well. They had pumps of sauce so I added some since I like a saucier slider. I also had blue ridge ice cream. I had the special deacon Oreo and chocolate double scoop for 6 dollars. The Oreo was just cookies and cream died yellow. I did really enjoy it because there were large chunks of cookies. Both tasted homemade. This was the only local place I found in the concessions area. I wish they had more local options. My big complaint was the bathrooms. They are really outdated and even though they were clean felt gross. They also did not have hot water to wash your hands. I would go back for another game or event.

Let me start by saying, I’m not a huge football fan… let alone a college football fan but my husband and I went to see Wake Forest vs. Army and I have to admit, I LOVEDBB&T Field!!! I may have only watched one play but I had such a great time there! Loved people watching and taking in the whole atmosphere. We had a parking pass and parked a short walk from the stadium. There is a lot of parking available all around the field. Some more $$ than others. I’d recommend getting there early due to both avoiding heavy traffic and to TAILGATE! The stadium itself is REALLY nice! They have a variety of seating options: seats, bleachers and lawn. We sat in the bleachers… In the direct sun… 80 degree day. Our side was in complete sun, the other side of the stadium was complete shade. After half time, we moved to the shaded side. — Due to the heat, there were misting tents around the concourse area which were quite refreshing! No handrails! Yikes! Walking up/down from«the nose bleed section» was a bit daunting for me. Hope no one takes a tumble because it’s a looooooooong way down. The concession areas were SUPER packed. It seemed like the food vendors weren’t capable of handling that many people. The lines were insanely long and trying to just walk through the concourse was difficult due to the lines stretching from one side to the other. Food prices seemed a little high. We didn’t buy anything. I agree with another Unilocaler who mentioned bringing in an empty water bottle to save $. There seemed to be only one location for beer. A smallish fenced in area heavily guarded by security and police. It was PACKED and the line during halftime stretched a good 20 yards. No thanks. I’d be too claustrophobic to be packed in there. Now for my only MAJOR complaint. They do a bag check(NBD– I’m all for safety) and we had a diaper bag for our baby. Well, we had packed powdered formula along with 2 small bottles of(tepid) water to mix the formula with(our baby refuses to drink cold water). The security guard was like, «Well, you’re only allowed to bring in 8oz since the game is only 2.5 hours.» WHAT!!! The stadium gets to dictate how much my baby is allowed to eat in a 2.5 hour period? 8oz??? And who came up with that amount??? My 6mo. old can put down up to 12oz in a feeding. The security guard let us in with the contraband but said she wasn’t supposed to. Ugh. So now we’ll have to deal with this every time we come back. And come back we will! Can’t wait for the next home game! Maybe college football will grow on me!

This place is pretty legit. Down at one end they have a massive scoreboard, complete with very impressive HD screen that would put some NFL stadiums to shame, while along both sides there are plenty of very comfy seats. Even the structure itself is quite nice looking, with a brick veneer that gives it that classic look, while not looking too dated. This is quite the indication that football is doing well at bringing in the money, because this place could not have been cheap to put together. Also nice is that the parking lots are right up next to the stadium, meaning you can tailgate like crazy and walk/stumble/crawl your way to your seats. In fact, when I’ve been, I have actually seen a full-fledge keg party going on in the lawn next to the stadium. It can get a bit crazy. Do make sure you go early, as the secondary streets around the stadium aren’t really made to hold this amount of traffic — but other than that, definitely worth it.

Seems funny to be reviewing a stadium, but what the heck. If you haven’t been for a Wake Forest football game or some other event, it is quite impressive. With a 50 foot high def scoreboard, a booming sound system and seven story press box it’s a stadium fit for a much larger school. During football games you can choose to sit on the end zone lawn seats or find a way to get into the booze-serving Bridger Field House for a corporate or Booster event. But if you just want to live like the masses, there are few bad seats in the house. Tip: if its hot, drink plenty of water and hide under the North side seats to avoid baking on the metal bleachers. Do yourself a favor and snag the next set of Wake tickets that someone offers, get there early and tailgate your ass off!
