I went to my first Wake baseball game here and it will not be my last. Since this was a former minor league park the facilities are very nice. The seats are comfortable and you can sit in shaded sections to avoid the heat. The cessions are good and reasonably priced. They had a few local vendors which included patriotic pretzels. They were really good. We went on dog day and had a great time. There was a parade and water stations for your pet.

Food sucks… Lack luster… Dollar you to death… Okay for a fun family night if you like the whole sports thing, however, I think this place was expected to be a bigger hit than it was… Lately, its dead.

As Kevin G mentioned, this is now the stadium for the Wake Forest University baseball team, and so it has been renamed Gene Hooks Field. It’s a step up for the WFU team, since their previous field didn’t have any lights, meaning no night games, but it’s a step down for the rest of us for one main reason: ASTROTURF. That’s right — the only part of the whole field that isn’t fake turf is the pitcher’s mound(and the bullpen pitcher’s mounds. Now, they’ve colored the turf a lovely shade of WFU gold where it would normally be dirt instead of grass, so it kind of looks the same, but don’t kid yourself, this is turf. There’s just something un-American to me about a turf baseball field. The rest of the stadium is worn and faded chair backs. Interestingly enough, there are beautiful grassy knolls along the first and third base lines, out past the bleacher seats. It’s interesting because they’re at quite the angle, and although I’m no landscape designer, I’d expect that they’re harder to maintain that the field(mowing at a 30º angle). Good news is that general admission in only $ 5, and there’s plenty of parking. #Yelp365 — 125⁄365

This is now Wake Forest Baseball Park. A few updates and coats of paint have turned this place into a trendy place to go. That’s sad. It seems Wake Forest is buying up everything within a couple miles of the campus. No more Ziggys, no more Ernie Shore Field. I guess it’s ok since college baseball is always better than college football.
