I am regular thrift shopper, and this just didn’t leave an impression. It is definitely large and other shoppers seem to be picking up a lot of good finds, but it just wasn’t for me. The size range for clothing was limited, the kitchen supplies section was spotty and picked over, but the furniture section wasn’t too bad. Maybe I’ll come back, and earlier in the day to see if there are any good finds.

I told myself that Goodwill would definitely get my money back one day when I am well off enough to make philanthropic contributions. Maybe it’s not really this Goodwill’s fault. But ever since their store revamp 2 weeks ago, every clothing items donated by target is now $ 7. These are clearance items from target, that have minor imperfections. Seriously, if its $ 7 I might as well buy brand new? It was $ 3.75, then $ 5 and now $ 7. Prices are going up as fast as the price of stamps. As for appliances and small furniture items, lot of donations from target are really just 25% off the salvage price of target. You decide if it’s worth the hassle.

As an avid thrift shopper, I will give credit where credit is due. Goodwill’s main store is huge, nice staff, and pretty clean. The prices are higher than nearly all other thrift shops and the quality is not always great. You also have to look really closely at things to make sure they aren’t stained, broken, etc. All in all, I prefer to go to the W-S Rescue Mission for better selection(furniture, appliances) and prices(on everything) or to the Quaker Cupboard Thrift Shop on Reynolda Road(but only open for a few hours on Friday). The Quakers have a much smaller collection, but everything is in perfect shape and top quality — almost like consignment resale. Goodwill? It just seems to have gotten way too big and not really caring so much about what it is putting out on the floor. I work near there, so will stop off from time to time. More often than not, I’ll walk out empty handed.

Yes, this is a Goodwill, so there are certain things to expect — fairly disheveled aisles, eclectic shoppers occasionally, slightly vandalized changing stalls, and a lot of stuff to sift through. That being stated, I think this is one of the better thrift shops and the best Goodwill in the WS area. The staff are very nice, and everything is reasonably clean. I have not have had any bad experiences here. For women of average size, they have some of the nicest clothing of the Goodwill’s. Although the clothing is not this season of fashion, they have a lot of nice business professional items circulate through. This Goodwill has an extra room for all of their books, DVD’s, VHS’s, etc. Another pro of this Goodwill in particular is that Target gives them their castoff home décor pieces, even furniture. I got a really nice bookshelf that required assembling and it seems the original purchaser got fed up with trying to assemble it and returned it. One of the shelves is missing a corner, but it can be hidden. The good news is that if you are unsatisfied with your purchase, you can still return it within a few days for a refund. Overall, this is a great Goodwill if you are someone who likes to hunt for nice things, are a poor young professional looking for clothing, or want to decorate your house with Target stuff and are willing to have minor imperfections in exchange for cheap stuff.

It’s definitely worth visiting! This place is huge! The have there higher priced items right as you walk in the door! Don’t get discouraged, the normal priced Goodwill items that you are used to are still there, just a bit further back! The stuff up front looked like it was all from Target. Lets be real, Target has good sales, you just have to hit them at the right time. I found that you can get the same items that Goodwill has from Target cheaper at Target! Don’t waste your time in this section… unless there was something from seasons ago that you missed, it maybe worth trying to find. Now onto the good stuff… I found the best deals yesterday. I found a new Vince Cumuto orange blazer for 4.50, I grabbed it as quick as I could and looked around to see if anyone saw how crazy I looked! I was thrilled! I’ve seen this same blazer in Macy’s for $ 118. I found a animal print Moda International shirt –again another shirt from Macy’s, Theory pants, Ann Taylor sweater, Ralph Lauren blouse, I can’t even begin typing everything I found, you probably feel like you have read enough! I spent about 60 dollars and walked out with about 12 name brand quality items! I’m definitely going back the next time I’m in NC!!! As soon as you finish reading this, grab some clothes and shoes and head out of your house! Don’t say I didn’t tell you so!!! Good luck and let me know what deals you find!!!

Really helpful staff, very organized store. Also appreciated that they’d hold a piece of furniture I bought for up to 2 days which really helps me with my move. Very large selection of stuff and it was very busy so I imagine things turn over quickly there. They also had a small café– you can drink some coffee and shop too :) Scored a really nice couch for $ 30 and a desk chair for $ 5. I was lucky to get the couch too– they had just put it out a few hours before and in the time I was there at least two other people were interested in it.

I love goodwill but this one is not my favorite. The employees always seem a little ill and not helpful. Also i find that this goodwill tends to have higher prices on the bigger items like furniture.

Yes… Where else can you find lamps, a DARE t-shirt, some nice dress shirts, and a costume for halloween all for under 15 dollars. Goodwill. Thats where. This store is larger than the Goodwill on the South side of Winston-Salem, and has a lot of clothes and odd ends. As usual you might have to check this place out a few times a month. They are always getting things in and have good prices as well.
