Oh my god, oh my god, OHMYGOD!!! Hot dog«all the way» & one of the snack pies grilled. I can die a happy man. Their fries are very good. But, I’d take the square footage that would take up in my tummy & reassign it to an additional hot dog all the way. Just sayin’

The very best hot dogs there are in town and then don’t forget to get a b&g pie that they will fry for you on the grill. Just remember cash only no cards accepted.

Those buns, those buns, those buns. Just something about those lightly buttered, toasted buns that really make these some of the best hot dogs in Winston. Chili has a great flavor. Fries are decent, nothing special. Definitely more of a take out place, as there is very little seating inside or outside, and what little seating they have is extremely close and on top of one another. But man, the hot dogs are great. Always a long line, but you rarely have to wait a long time for your food, although getting your food after you order can be kind of chaotic. Some days you pick up your food at the same window where you placed your order and some days you pick it up at the swinging doors to the side of the window. My only wish is they had separate ordering and pick up windows; would feel less claustrophobic. But, really any of those little inconveniences are made up by the tasty hot dogs.

We were in Winston for a doctor’s visit, and his office is just up the street from this great little hot dog stand, so of course, we dropped in for a quick dog on the run. It was around 1:30, so the biggest part of the lunch crowd was gone, and the hot dogs were quickly ready. Just as messy as ever, just as good as ever.

It’s always good and yummy. My only negative is that they don’t take debit cards. I’d stop by more often but I never carry cash. Support local!

Hands down best dog and wings in town. Love the chilli cheese fries. A must eat once a week at least.

Tasty! Suggested to me one day by my best friend, I tried it and it was good. I don’t get by a lot, but try to stop when I do. Good price, good dogs, good times!

This place is so freaking good! Be sure to bring cash, otherwise you will be forced to leave without experiencing the most incredible, mouthwatering, chili soaked, tube of pork and beefy goodness this side of I 40 business.

Got two chili dogs with onions, cheese and slaw with a side of French fries… well worth the trip to this place. They do something special with the buns to make it crispy and sweet on the outside and still warm and soft on the inside. Will come back again soon.

Been here a few times even after terrible experiences based off Unilocal reviews thinking we just went on a bad day but nope, they are consistently terrible. I really don’t understand where these positive reviews are coming from. Food is good but nothing outstanding. The prices are a little high for what you get and the service is absolutely terrible. They mess up your order and then give you a hard time when you ask them to fix it. Beyond that the service is rude and generally unpleasant every time we’ve been there. Done giving this place chance after chance.

All of the other reviewers have said all there really is to say. I’m here to reaffirm all that has been stated. PB’s is a great place to have a good, quick, well priced meal. The hot dogs are truly wonderful and the fixins were perfect. The one thing I would note as a possible improvement are the fries(served without any toppings) being offered with some seasoning to add a bit more flavor or zing. I loved this place from the food to the people. Treat yourself to a slice of good eats.

Man! What good hot dogs!!! I will probably never ever ever buy another from CookOut or Dario’s. These hot dogs are serious. The only time I get excited about hot dogs aka wieners in RI is at NY System. Now I have a place to get excited about in Winston. 2 all the way! The hot dog buns were perfect, they had the perfect blend of spices in the chili & the slaw was great too. I had 2, but I really would have loved 3. Only down side is that the soda machine wasn’t working & the soda I got was flat, but the hot dogs compensated for it. This will be my new place to go to when craving hot dogs, which is quite often. It’s a small place, take it to go, or sit on the little stools. I ate mine in the car… nope I couldn’t wait. Remember cash only!

This little hole in the wall has delicious food for a great price, but what puts it over the top is their service. Unilocal definitely got this one right. The hot dogs are fantastic! Let me just start by saying that the staff here is on top of their game. Seriously some of the best service that I’ve received. I went in for dinner tonight and, not thinking, I didn’t check to see whether or not it was cash only. As many smaller family owned restaurants are, P.B.‘s was cash only. Luckily I had a crisp $ 10 bill in my wallet, but I was worried that it wouldn’t go very far for dinner for two. The gentleman(this term should not be used lightly, but was very fitting in this case) behind the counter was very understanding. He basically helped me see how far I could stretch that $ 10 and said that if we couldn’t make it work that I could just run across the street to Food Lion and get Cash back. You can’t beat the prices at this place. My $ 10 got me 2 dogs All the Way, a Large Sweet Tea, and a Cheeseburger All the Way. I was ecstatic about this, but to top it off the guy behind the counter offered to go ahead and just give us another Sweet Tea and some fries. We politely declined, not wanting to take advantage. Next thing I know our food is up and the man personally brings us out an order of fries. Class Act. The hot dogs are not overhyped. They are seriously incredible. The buns are toasted and buttered to perfection, the chili is thick and flavorful, the slaw is sweet but not overpowering and the dog is flavorful and well cooked. PB’s got it right. The fries came out hot and fresh. They reminded me of the type of fries that you would get at a High School Football game, which kind of took me back. They were nice and crispy and not too greasy. The Burger was not as good as the hot dog, but I would not laugh at it either. Good quality meat, well cooked, and just greasy enough. Also, the Sweet Tea was above average, good level of sweetness, but it had a little bit of a burnt after taste. The inside of PB’s is cozy and it has bar stool seating around the exterior. Probably enough bar stools to seat 12 – 15. You can get your food to go(hence the takeout in the name), which might not be a bad idea. PB’s is an awesome local joint that has been around forever. The locals love it and rightfully so. The hot dogs here are the standout item but the rest of the food is very good as well. The service is really what puts this place over the top. Whatever their hiring strategy is, they should stick with it. I can’t say enough about this place.

Damn good hot dog from a joint that looks like it has been around since the 50s. Tiny place with a small seating area inside(stools from the 50s) and picnic tables on the outside. I like my dog all the way with chili, mustard and slaw. The chili is pretty good and the buns are nicely toasted. Get at least two and/or the chili cheese fries as a side. As others have stated… — Cash only — Place is popular so there may be a line when you get there — Not a lot of parking spaces and what’s there is shared with other businesses. It can be a pain to get in and out sometimes. Great value and highly recommend.

The hot dogs were good, but the price seems outrageous. Maybe if they had some specials every once in a while it would make things better.

I went there today to try a hot dog. The hot dog was really good. I like the chili and slaw at this place and it adds to the flavor. Kermit’s is very similar, but the chili and slaw of each makes them have a different flavor. Their buns and hot dogs are different as well but similar. The atmosphere is great at both. I will definitely be back to try a hamburger and wings. It’s a great place for a quick old fashion place to eat. Really cute place! I usually don’t compare two places in my review. I just thought since they are pretty similar in the fact that they both are known for old fashion fast food. At both places I ordered the same thing and they had a very similar presentation as well. I think that both are good and unique in different ways. Oh… I like how this place has coke… just a preference… Kermit’s has Pepsi… Not a fan;-)

Thanks to Fred B. of Greensboro, I’ve had PB’s Takeout bookmarked for at least two years. Today, since it was such a beautiful day, I decided to make a leisurely drive to the Twin City, and cross a restaurant off my bucket list. I arrived at @1:00PM to find general chaos. Parking? Almost nonexistent, but I shoehorned my car into a spot right in front. The«regulars» said that today was atypical, because the crowd was like something I have only experienced at the Varsity in Atlanta, meaning there were wall to wall people. The entire restaurant is not as large as my garage, where I am currently typing this review. All the seats inside were occupied by people who had already ordered, holding their tickets, and waiting for their number to be called. Inside of this crowd there was a line — the actual order line, which soon extended out into the parking lot. Based on several comments from the folks inside, I resigned myself to joining in the festivities. I struck up a cordial conversation with a retired gentleman from Albany, NY, who wanted to know how I had heard about PB’s. When I said, «Yelp,» he repeated himself, and then I had to explain the concept of Unilocal to him. I did not mind. I finally placed my order for three hot dogs all the way, at $ 2.20 per frankfurter, cash only, grabbed my Coke and waited. The five or six guys preparing the food picked up their pace, and my order was called within fifteen minutes. Time passes quickly when you are having a delightful conversation with nice folks. Others chimed in to our conversation to offer their suggestions for other great hot dog venues in the Winston-Salem area, their opinion of the pretzel bun, today’s chock a block crowd, and what they liked on the menu. Several people told me that it is best to arrive by 11:00AM. People in Winston-Salem are friendly, and it was good to be closer to where I was raised. I took my three«pretty as a picture» hot dogs outside, one of the nice patrons held the door open for me, and I sat on one of the three picnic tables to enjoy the late Summer sunshine. I noticed that there was plenty of parking in the Food Lion parking lot across the street. Hot dogs? Absolutely the BEST that I’ve ever eaten in NC — bar none. Fresh buns. Mustard. Meaty chili, onions, slaw. Extremely messy and absolutely delicious. I CANNOT conceive how this hot dog could be improved upon, yes, it was that good. I believe the appropriate word is «ethereal.» PB’s is well deserving of ALL the hype, kudos, and good ratings. In the words of one reviewer, «it is legit.» I was soon joined by a mother and daughter at my communal picnic table. They generously provided me with the napkin that I had forgotten and that I sorely needed. The daughter was a volunteer worker who had traveled to Nepal. I heard their story about a rabid fox attacking a friend’s cats, having it fended off by the tomcat, and trying to pull the cat off the fox, only to fall down, all the while screaming for her husband to come help. This surely would have won the grand prize on America’s Funniest Videos. The fox was probably rabid, so the neighbor was undergoing rabies shots — just to be on the safe side. I also learned about animal control in Nepal. The daughter said that she would be in Hickory tomorrow, so I made some restaurant recommendations. The mother said that the perfect ending to my meal would be a vanilla milkshake from the Dairi-O in King, NC. Next destination — King, NC. LOL!

From the reviews on here PB’s seems to be a hot dog lovers paradise and well it was true! When I saw the reviews on PB’s, I knew I had to give them a try. Although there was a decent lunch hour line they worked through it pretty fast. I ordered a hot dog with chili and mustard as well as some fries. I could have done without the fries and just gone with two hot dogs! These hot dogs actually remind me of RI wieners, which I haven’t been able to find anything similar outside of RI(until yesterday that is). They are just missing the celery salt(which I added when I got home). The fries were just meh, not particularly bad but not particularly good either. I will definitely be back!

You KNOW I love a good hot dog(and rarely do I meet a hot dog that I don’t like). I celebrated National Hot Dog Day by making a stop at P B’s. The place wasn’t terribly crowded a bit after 5 on a Tuesday but there got to be quite a line by the time I left. I kept it simple: two dogs. One with ketchup and mustard and one«All the Way.» Both were really good. I would have liked a bit more mustard on the ATW but the chili flavor was good and most substantial than some watery chilis you can get elsewhere. The fries were basic. I really really wish places would season their fries right when they come out of the fryer. Service was pretty quick and no frills. I got one more ATW to take with me. P B’s, you know I can’t quit you. I’ll be back for sure. As others have mentioned, CASHONLY.
