The Stevens Center has wonderful character! My husband and his family have attended the Nutcracker every year since it’s beginning at the Stevens Center. Our family holds this venue and the ballet in our hearts as a very special tradition. Thank you Stevens Center for your hospitality!!!

I saw the Nutcracker at the Stevens Center this year. The Nutcracker was put on by the UNCSA and was AMAZING, but this review is for the Stevens Center which is okay at best. Visually, it’s beautiful! The art that is scattered around as you walk through the building adds to the museum like atmosphere. The main theatre where the performances take place is gorgeous and feels quite cavernous, however the seating isn’t amazing, gorgeous, and it’s CERTAINLYNOT cavernous. The seats are crammed together. I didn’t measure, so I can’t be sure, but I would say they must be significantly closer together, with less legroom than airline seats. Fortunately, the performance was so entertaining, that I was able, to a large extent, to ignore the painful seating.

We attended a concert last night with the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony at this venue, and we were very pleased with the Stevens Center. The decorative woodwork and ornate detailing surrounding the stage was lovely to look at, and the acoustics were fine. I didn’t know about this place, and I’m happy to have had the opportunity to enjoy the Stevens Center.

I did not know this venue existed until Dave Chapelle chose it to have a standup show. Needless to say — the show was hilarious! The theater is located downtown Winston-Salem, and parking can be tricky. The theater is old, but very pretty. Bathrooms were easy to access, and the staff was nice. After the concert, there are bars directly outside so it’s cool to be able to grab a cocktail before or after a show.
