The only reason why I would return to Coco Loco Cantina is because I feel pity for the mish-mashed restaurant. From the moment I opened the door, I got a bad feeling. A worn couch sat against the wall and other sundry items were tossed about near the bathrooms. The menus were sticky and dirty. One server greeted us and told us the specials, another one brought us drinks and took our order and a third girl continued to wait on us. The strange thing is that we were the ONLY customers in the small restaurant for over 2 hours. The menu is odd – not in a fusion trendy sort of way, but in a I-can’t-decide-what-kind-of-restaurant-I-want-to-be. Once we ordered, it took over 35 minutes to bring out our food and our order wasn’t correct. One of us ordered a veggie burrito but they brought out a veggie burger. Another person ordered a taco platter with an additional taco. The additional taco didn’t come out. The food itself was less that good. It tasted like food you would make at home… and not in a good ol’ homecooking sort of way. The salsa was bland and runny and a bag of Tostitos would’ve been tastier and more fresh than Coco Loco’s chips. The servers just sat behind the bar not really attending to us. I just think that Coco Loco lacks management and experience. However, something has to improve. Unless they want customers to come back out of pity, step it up. On a scale of 1 – 5 with 1 being the lowerst Ambiance: 1 Food: 2 Service: 2 Chips and Salsa –5 Fries: 3 Black Bean Quesadilla: 3 Veggie Burger: 1

It really pains me to give this place 3 stars. I really want local restaurants to succeed and be go to places. I feel like this place has a lot going on and maybe if it made up it’s mind what it was then it would be a go to place. I also like dive-ish, cheap eats places and I so wanted to like this place but it fell a little short. The manager(owner?) was nice and tried his best to be pleasant and make sure we were okay. Frozen«margaritas”-one plus is they are cheap($ 2 a plastic cup) but these are more like slushies(they come from a machine… think Chillers) and you for sure don’t have to worry about getting drunk because there is hardly any alcohol in them. The menu has a little bit of everything… cheeseburgers, wings, Mexican, and Korean. I didn’t know what the focus was… the manager(owner?) said they had the best wings in Florida. I LOVE wings but decided to go with the fajitas instead. The best part of the fajitas was the meat. It was really good. It was served bento box style… I really liked the presentation. The fajitas weren’t served with cheese or sour cream(not a big deal for me since I don’t like sour cream, but my friend does and wanted some) To me those are fundamentals of fajitas. Also, the pico de gallo was from a can… a small local place should make their own pico. A few negatives… wait time… we waited a long time for our food. It’s a really small restaurant and I don’t get what the hold up was. The manager(owner?) said he would give us free chips and salsa but they were out… kinda weird. Publix is just down the street :) He did give us free jello shots… um we’re hungry :) but it was a nice gesture. Overall, I would go again… maybe I’ll get the wings next time and see if they live up to the best wings in Florida.
