OMG! There’s actually a listing for this freeway! I do love this straight and fast stretch of road. The 505 basically connects I-80 in Vacaville to I-5 North, north of Sacramento, this saves going all the way to Sac if you need to head north on I-5 towards Oregon, or coming south as well. The interchange with I-80 is right near the Nut Tree in Vacaville and is an east ramp righ on to the 505! Once on 505, it’s a dead straight shot onto I-5 north. Not much out here at all, so no real towns to stop at. 70 mph speed limit, so you know, 75 — 77 mph won’t get you a ticket. It’s a fun road to let’er rip, radar detector on! If you’re in an old slow car… yep, it’s pretty boring. When heading to or from Red Bluff or Redding, this is the way to go!

The 505 is my 2nd favorite roadway, 680 will always be my favorite even with the traffic. The 505 is the 34 mile connector from 80 to 5. Halfway up the 505 is exit 21/CA-16 which will take you to Cache Creek Casino. Other than the casino there is not much off the 505 unless you are on the north or south end of it. Speed limit is 70mph and most drivers will move to the right if you catch up to them. I don’t recall a time when there has been heavy big rig traffic on the 505 either. The 505 is like my little traffic break between 80 and 5.

From the 80 to the 505 to the casino. Yes, that’s a nice drive. Until the sun is right in your eyes, blinding you! Dear Lord, please don’t let me crash before I get to Cache Creek! If you’d rather spend your money on clothing than on the slots, you can reach the Vacaville Outlet mall via the 505 as well. For a great collection of 505 pictures(of the Interstate’s shield) see: :)
