This place has been here for over a hundred years, and it looks it! A bit tired and dusty-looking. I go in once in a while for coffee or a paper, it’s probably the closest place to do that if you’re at the library or the municipal court across the common. In addition to coffee(New England Coffee brand, in carafes and brewed) and newspapers, they have lottery tickets, tobacco of all kinds, and some pastries, plus some gum and candy. I go there because they have the fat-free half-and-half.(I know, it’s probably made with elmer’s glue, but I like the idea of cream without calories.) There are a few signs of its former incarnation as a stationary store, like some pens and pads of paper for sale, as well as greeting cards. The customers all seem to know each other and the cashiers. If you wanted directions, or gossip, this would probably be a better place to go than a gas station.
