If you’re looking for a German Deli, this place will suffice. It is a tad bit hard to locate the first time you go, but easy enough to fine(behind a few other businesses). The have solid cold cuts, bratwurst and other deli meats. They also carry sauerkraut, mustard and various other German delights. Their beer selection isn’t amazing, but they do sell German beers(though not all are refridgerated.

This place is a very rare find. There are VERY few places in all of Los Angeles that you will find the cold cuts that they carry. My mission is to try at least one new cold cut every time I visit. So far, I tried two of the head cheeses, the tongue loaf, blood sausage, garlic bologna, and three others(can’t remember the names). All are excellent!!! The ladies that work there are very nice and are happy to suggest to customers what to try. I am so glad that I found this hidden gem!

Great selection of sausages! I especially love the landjäger, which I’ve never seen elsewhere in LA or NYC

You will not find a better German deli in Southern California. From childhood, we would go to Alpine Village until it turned into a wasteland. Was elated to find Ursula’s little slice of Germany. Fresh cuts, great candy selection, and a friendly smile every time you go in. Make it your business to head in and have a sandwich, a chocolate bar, or even just grab a pastry. You won’t regret it!

So happy I found this little nook. Cold cuts sandwhich is my favorite. Everytime I go here for lunch I feel I’m in some small town in Germany. Everything from spatzel to wine. The staff is so adorable and super nice. I always grab one of the imported drinks just to get the full flavor of Germany. And every Sunday they have fresh German baked goods. A fun spot to discover.

Got some insanely delicious German goods here! Tip: Milka costs 2.50 $ here vs 3.99 $ at Ralphs. They have Spaetzle, Hazelnut Spread, Dr. Oetker & Kinder products, Cheeses and Cold Cuts. Anything your German souls could desire. Points off for: 1. The ladies at the cold cuts counter were preparing the meats without wearing gloves. Seems like a hygiene issue to me. 2. The bread and chocolate were both a bit stale tasting. Otherwise Thumbs Up!

The cutest little deli, love places like this! Been here for like over 40 or 50 years? Deli meats are really good and taste fresh. They have a HUGE selection of German chocolates and candies, I was in heaven. Also have really cool items like imported wines, beers, old school sodas, and some gorgeous ceramic beer mugs! I absolutely recommend this establishment. You can’t go wrong with the cutest little ladies making your sandwiches, it’s like the closest thing to homemade. Can’t wait to visit again!

Ok, I give them credit for the best part, fresh cold cuts. If it’s the only reason you make it there, you must try their killer garlic bologna which, when sliced paper thin(ask them to slice it thin! Yum!) is quite delectable. I have actually gone in there just to get this garlic bologna and take it home. It’s THATGOOD. Their french bread is of the MO here. It’s a bit thick, dense and tough to sink your teeth through(think bite, hang on and tear off with your pearlies while hoping the delicate meat and cheese tears with it in equitable form and doesn’t fly horizontal en route onto your lap in — or somewhere else! — the process). But some people really love themselves some thick crusty unforgiving bread. If you ascribe to the camp of opening your mouth as wide as it can possibly go(and then open farther!) to get a bite of 80% barely chew-able bread and 20% yummy filling that slips out between, then this is your place and you need to go here. If girth-some tough French bread doesn’t ring your bell, you have the remaining basic grocery store type bread options(white, whole wheat, rye and sourdough) which loses its texture after 5 minutes if you don’t-eat-it-right-then. Plus they offer the standard handful of condiments such as crispy iceberg lettuce, thinly sliced tomato, mayo and mustard all served up in a pretty landfill loving styrofoam box. Had they offered me some of that crazy awesome German lemon zesty Thomy mayo insanity in the tube, that might have been special. But they don’t — when you ask, they promptly inform the toothpaste sized tube can be purchased for $ 6.99 to have that experience. That would then make your sandwich cost upwards of $ 14. Nope. Then there’s the German potato salad. Yes, I tried it. If I were a fan of the room temperature German variety, maybe this place would hit four stars, but sadly, my tongue doesn’t cozy up to vinegary soggy bacon drenched warm German potato salad. But if you are a fan, I am told this place makes the best rendition of it, hands down. Also, try to call in your order in advance if you want to go during a weekday lunch break(assuming they don’t have their phone line switched to their fax line). While the people here are reasonably friendly in the crotchety Germanic sense; they are in no rush to prepare your sammich for a growling tummy tum. Here’s how it works: You walk in. There may be one or two people in front of you. It takes the staff about 5 minutes to acknowledge or realize you are there(because they are making foods or getting something from the back, who knows?). You finally get to put in your order, then they go to making your sandwich after another 5 minutes(give or take 10 to go back to the room behind them, again). Ah! Sandwich is now made! Someone has to take off their plastic prep gloves and walk around the side to ring your sandwich up at the register — this is the part that takes more time than anything, but I have no idea why. In my 5 times I have been here, it’s always the same. I practically need a Xanax to get through this part(and I am a reasonably patient person, really!). It’s always the same. Just give into it. Deep breath. They will ring you up before the universe collapses on itself. I promise you this. But rest assured, there’s a plethora of German marzipan pigs, random German toiletries, wall hanging ornaments and strange colognes and bottles of alcohol that suddenly all seem to be perfect to take home while you wait to ring up said sandwich. You walk out spending upwards of $ 25 for your $ 6.95 sandwich because your wait was replaced by other things you really did not need. LOL So you have been warned — you may have only two people in front of you when you walk in — but by the time you order your sandwich and then stand in line again to pay for it, almost your full lunch hour is gone. So, save yourself the frustration and call your order in before arrival. You’ll thank me for that, if nothing more :)

This place has been around for years. Authentic German deli and market. It’s kind of «sneaky good» when you’re in the mood for a German salami or würst sandwich. Very small and hard to find. It appears clean and the service is friendly. Not much room to eat in. Their German potato salad is freshly made and is tasty.

Randomly found this deli shop on Unilocal when I was searching for restaurants in the area. It’s a small place so you can’t sit and eat, but it’s a great place to grab and go. They have a bunch of German snacks, chocolate, beer, and condiments. This place is hidden in the back and you can only see the sign in the front. They have a whole range of cold cuts here to build your own sandwich. Food: They have various types of bologna and salami, tongue, turkey, headcheese, veal loaf, roast beef, prosciutto, liver, bratwurst, cheeses(havarti, beer cheese, muenster, pepperjack) and more. You can also choose between the french roll, German rye, wheat or sourdough bread. I got a liverwurst, tongue and salami sandwich(10 inches) and pickle for ONLY $ 7.00. Overall: They definitely need better advertisement because their shop is hidden and they have no menu. However, the meats are delicious and for the price, how can you go wrong?

Pops was in town and we were headed to Topanga Beach on an empty stomach. We don’t do great running on empty. Being of German heritage the sign drew us in. The sandwich doesn’t disappointed. Good rye bread, a distinctive taste, I will return! Hot brats to order and potato salad too… It’s a weiner!

I find this little store a hidden treasure and such a delightful place. It’s also adorable, I might add. I know that might be a weird adjective to describe a store but you really have to visit it yourself. Good German products and tasty variety of German meat. Sandwiches are well-priced.

I had forgotten this gem as it’s hidden in the back of the strip mall. But I stopped today and got a sandwich and picked up some Belgian chocolates. Completely forgotten how much better the black forest ham is here than anywhere else in LA. It reminds me of the ham I get when I visit my family in Europe. I am one happy camper right now.

OMG. I didn’t think I was gonna like this place. After all, it’s been around for 40 years. It’s a little aged. A few small tables out front and inside, and stocked shelves with various German products. But from the moment I walked in, warm hospitality from the old country, and super nice service from the lady behind the ordering counter, from what I found later, the original owner. For $ 6.95, a massive sandwich. I got a Club BLT: Crisp, shredded lettuce thinly sliced tomato thinly sliced, quality, meats(ham, turkey) bacon swiss large, brown rye bread mayo and mustard. Yes! All day long. Great place. Great service. Great sandwich. What else do you want?!

This place is great! If you are missing Germany and want some butter cheese or a fresh hot pretzel, they have it! Also have a wide variety of German spices and amazing meats. Good for a sandwich and also for fresh meats for dinner. The roulade gravy packet is awesome and almost tastes like a cooked it all day from scratch. Not great parking or a place to look at but the food is fab

Awesome lil German Deli! Friendly and very helpful staff. Fantastic sandwiches! You can’t go wrong with any of them. And don’t forget the German Potato Salad! It’s also the ONLY place to get authentic delicious Weisswurst. Don’t know how to cook it? Or how to serve it? Just ask. They’ll be happy to walk you through it as well as make sure you have everything you need so you feel like you are in Germany. They also stock some hard to find German Mustards like Handlmaier’s Sweet Bavarian Mustard. They also carry some amazing German Chocolate, and other delectable lil items you won’t want to miss out on. They even get fresh, soft, german pretzels delivered a couple times per week. Don’t be fooled by it’s little size, there is quite a bit in that little store. Can be a little hard to find, as it is set off the street in the back… But SOOOOOO worth it. Ursula is a total sweetheart!

When in unfamiliar territory(like Woodland Hills, for me), I always hope to find something that is unique to the area. I can enjoy and respect the occasional franchise and/or chain, but I think the best thing about sharing reviews here is finding the places that you don’t kinda already know. Hungry with a bit of time to grab something, I Unilocaled German Cold Cuts Int’l. I had passed the sign a time or two and was intrigued, so, let’s do it! It’s a small storefront, right across the street from Westfield Promenade, tucked in back with clear directions how to get there. Still there? Good. Cause once there, you’re met with a couple of colorful aisles of packaged goods, from licorice(German and Dutch) to spaetzel to various muesli to all sorts of beverages. Some bevs are in the cooler, many more are strewn about the store in an organized fashion. Beer tops the list of beverages. Tons of imports, duh. Plus some Bavarian sugar drinks/soft drinks, too. It was lunchtime, so I tried the Elderberry Soda which was like blackberries. Not too sweet, but fun to try. Walk beyond the aisles and you’ve found the Deli. Most of the products will get you thinking of Germany or possibly, Milwaukee. The Deli counter has plenty of meats and cheeses. They looked good, if not really the food groups I’ve been seeking out lately. Still, there’s Bratwurst, and a sign offering same as a lunch option. Done. You may eat there, as there’s a couple of simple tables and chairs by the window. I liked chatting with the ladies working there — and despite my declining the sauerkraut that comes standard with the Bratwurst Sandwich, I certainly said yes to spicy mustard. Of course, there are several mustards one can buy off the shelves. Oh, and the thick baguette the brat sits in, is very good. Crunchy, yet soft and bakery fresh. The sweets are sweet-looking, too. Some need explanation, others not. There are some lovely looking cakes, and you may get them by the slice, the hunk, or the whole thing. Think apple, or cherry or poppy. Or even, I think, German Chocolate. You never know who might pop in, too. A very recognizable TV figure from a few seasons back stopped in for some very specific German treats. He knew what he wanted: he was far from ‘Lost’. Despite so many more prominent shops and malls a stone’s throw away, I doubt the products here would appear anywhere else in the area. Lots to choose from. Thank you Unilocal for speaking highly of it – deservedly so.
