The thing I liked the most from this place are the butter shoyu fries. I’ve been to Hot Dog On a Stick before but it’s not exactly a favorite, but my bf loves it. They are hotdogs topped with things like bonito flakes, seaweed, mayo, teriyaki sauce etc. If you’re not into Asian or Japanese food, then you should probably skip this since it’s a little weird. You can probably try this place once just to say you tried it. The one I always get is the beef terimayo when I end up here.

Reminds of my child hood at Santa Monica pier where the original one is. What is there to say it’s a corn dog but a corn dog of highest degree and by far stands out as far as corn dogs go and the cherry lemonade well there. Is simply nothing better on the planet iMO glad that this place is still around great for a quick snack and a amazing thirst quincher on a hot day.

I enjoy Hot Dog on a Stick and the service is usually fantastic with cheerful employees. I ordered my typical meal, however the service from the assistant manager was not what an assistant manager should be. Poor attitude and just not friendly. Would rather interact with the young African-American lady who actually seems like she likes her job.

FAMOUSFOR — Hot Dog On A Stick(5⁄10) I ALSOTRIED — Cheese On A Stick(4⁄10) I don’t write reviews for fast food chains, and the score definitely doesn’t merit any special treatment, but I’m reviewing it, because otherwise, all my efforts in order to try this place will go unnoticed. A buddy of mine went to LA and came back and told me that one of his favorite meals was Hot Dog On A Stick. I was like, «Whoa! Wait a minute. A corndog was your favorite meal?» He’s like, «Yeah, but it’s freshly made!» I’m not sure how that has anything to do with it. BUT, the thing that got me was that with all the LA traveling and eating that I’ve done, I’ve never once heard of «Hot Dog On A Stick.» This time I was in SoCal for 2 weeks. I kept Unilocaling and Google Mapping HDONAS(Hot Dog On A Stick), and kept taking 3 – 4 mile detours to try it, only to find that the map lead me to a mall, and I DEFINITELY didn’t have time to stop, find parking, walk to the mall, check the directory, walk to HDONAS, order, eat, walk out of the mall, forget where I parked, hit Panic on the remote frantically, panic, find where I parked, and then continue on my merry way. So, I ended up driving to about 4 different malls, before I finally said, «Screw it! I’m making time for this!» So…I stopped, found parking, walked to the mall, checked the directory, and walked to HDONAS, ordered, ate, … HOTDOGON A STICK You ready for a surprise? This.Tastes.Like.A…Corndog. It’s just a hot dog that they batter right in front of you, and then put in the deep fryer. The breading is certainly much crispier than your microwaveable counterparts, but that’s it. The hot dog is still just a hot dog and ketchup is still just ketchup. CHEESEON A STICK They don’t have very many menu items. When I try new places, I get as many things as I can, because I never want to walk away from a place unsatisfied, and then later realize I didn’t try one of the hot items. You can choose from American Cheese or Jack Cheese. Sigh. I guess I’ll try American Cheese. Guess what this tasted like? …Like.A.Corndog.With.American Cheese.Instead.Of.A.Hot Dog. WOW! And the surprises just keep coming! It’s practically like a grilled cheese, but instead of buttery, cheesy goodness, it’s tastless oily, cheesy goodness. Butter is a HUGE part of why I like grilled cheese, and now it’s replaced with canola oil. HOTDOGON A STICKCANSTICKIT Apparently, this is just a typical SoCal mall food court type of place. I don’t know if my friend was joking when he said this was his best meal, but I don’t see anything to this place.

The Bad News Ok its at the Mall and its near the kids section and you feel like you might be at a food stand but its still really delicious. The Good news Their specialty is their hot dog on a stick which they batter and fry right in front of you so that was a surprise. It doesn’t at all compare with corndogs we get at costco or other places. It taste10 times better. I think that was a pleasant little treat. Staff was friendly and efficient too which helped.
