Fishmonger is sold!!! I love this place, the people who have worked, cooked, prep, and bartend at the Fishmonger are #1, número uno, the Best! I will miss how well the chef’s have made Popeye Chicken the Best Meal ever Served on Cape Cod. Popeye’s Chicken is the best reason for living on the Cape. I hope everyone who has worked at the Fishmonger finds another place that makes them happy, I wish them all well and thank you very, very much for your excellent service, your professionalism, and delightful character. There is no logical reason to change the Fishmonger name. I seriously am considering not visiting the new owner’s establishment if they change the name,…or if they choose not to have Popeye’s Chicken on the menu!!! Long Live Fishmonger’s!!!

Just what I was looking for! I wanted a fresh fish sandwich with a lovely water view — and fishmonger delivered! The service was friendly. I felt welcomed by at least three members of the staff here. As I was dining alone, this was especially nice. I arrived as the lunch crowd was clearing out, so I was able to get a great table with a harbor view. The Cape Cod Blonde ale went great with my Cape Cod Reuben sandwich.

We had a delicious meal at Fishmonger’s on an October weekday when we were the only diners in the restaurant. The menu was very gluten-free friendly, and the service was relaxed, competent and pleasant. The beet salad was very tasty and fresh. The beans and rice entrée was a good value, with the grilled shrimp featuring a delicate and flavorful marinade. My entrée, the chicken and shrimp with pineapple garnish, was wonderful. We had eaten at the Landfall the previous evening, and while the Landfall has a nice ambiance I have to say that the food at Fishmonger’s was even better in our opinion.

Friendly Bartender. He knew his beers and we had a tasty flight of beer. The clam chowder was smooth and creamy. The best so far on our New England trip

I want to start off if literally the only thing you care about is how your food tastes, then you might enjoy this restaurant just fine. I had the lobster roll and my husband had the po’ boy shrimp roll. Both were yummy enough BUT… 1. $ 50 for a couple of beers and sandwiches with French fries??! Seriously? I felt ripped off. 2. The toilet was broken and the waiter said he’d take care of it. He did not, so I got to watch every other patron who wanted to use that bathroom go in and walk right out from the stench of urine… which wafted to our table each and every time. Is it was hard to put up a sign that say«Out of Order?» 3. ALL of the bathrooms were filthy. 4. As I was munching down on my fries, I found what looked like a pubic hair stuck to one. I guess the cook has a beard. Lovely… Regardless of your personal attachment to facial hair, if you work in food service, you need to shave. No one wants face pubes in their food.(Sorry if I made you gag.) 5. I actually heard another waitress say to a table she was seating, «The last customers just had drinks so I’ll leave the settings since their still clean.» What??? How to you know they didn’t touch or sneeze on them? Ew! If someone sits at the table, you need to change the settings. That’s why when I worked in the business we waited for people to sit down before putting a setting in the table. So… If just one of these things happened, I’d probably still give the place four stars for the great views and generally good food. But too much was unpleasant about my meal.

OK — just OK. Service was slow but everything happened eventually and food mediocre.

For a local seafood shanty it’s hard to believe the breakfast was so good. Biscuits and gravy in New England? Yes! And the biscuits were light, flaky, and moist. The gravy was good as well. Spanish omelette was great.

Food was delivered after 1 hour. Flies landed on me throughout breakfast. Our table smelled the stench of the bathroom every time the door opened. Otherwise everything was great!

I had a crab cake burger that was delicious with a side of cole slaw that was better than typical restaurant cole slaw, but I thought it was overpriced for lunch. The sign outside and the menu said lunch started at 11:30. When we were seated at 11:30 we were told that lunch orders would take an extra 20 minutes because they had to turn the kitchen over. That’s fine, but I almost left without ordering, because despite having plenty of tables open they sat me and my boyfriend in a corner where we were pinned on all sides– against a window in his side, the wall to our left, another table on the right(tight enough that the backs of their chairs were up against our table which prevented my boyfriend from getting up), and the bathrooms directly behind us so we couldn’t hear each other over kids yelling at the bathroom door because their dad was in there. I am not normally claustrophobic but I felt trapped and couldn’t even focus to read the menu. The staff was nice enough about moving us when we asked but that corner was like a time out from hell.

Service is usually slow but we love their breakfasts. Skillets, pancakes and waffles are terrific! We usually take our kids and get their order in first. otherwise you’ll wait awhile.

Stopped in on a whim after the Falmouth Road Race for lunch and a beer, was pleasantly surprised. Had hoped for something outside, but sat by a breezy window watching the boats go through the drawbridge which was just as good. Rustic, wooden interior — fits the character of the area for the most part, but definitely not a fancy spot. Server was prompt and helpful, appreciated her recommendations. Food was very good — the chicken sandwich is outstanding and we also had the BLT which did not disappoint. Pretty good beer selection. Definitely recommend.

It’s so much fun to walk around Wood’s Hole, though you have to tough out the crowds if you’re there in summer. This can make finding a place to eat without a wait a bit problematic at times. Fishmonger’s Café graciously made space for our party of six, making sure it was ok with us to squeeze a little bit. When the table of two next to us left, we were encouraged to spread out. Very nice. The local beers on tap we tried were all good. My nephew and sister each got the shrimp po’boy, which they loved. It comes with those little bay shrimp, not the giant kind. The batter was light and tasty, and the remoulade was just right. I had the fish sandwich, which, while not too different from the standard, was very good. D’s lobster melt had a generous portion of lobster, moist and not overcooked. Some think it’s criminal to melt cheese over lobster, but I’d go with decadent… what an indulgence. Parking in Wood’s Hole can be a challenge, so do your research. The WHOOSH trolley will take you for a fun ride for $ 2 if you decide to park in Falmouth instead. We did just that and walked the other direction a couple of miles along the Shining Sea bike trail… a scenic option.

The interior is open and bright, nice casual and comfortable ambiance. You can watch the people walk by on main street, or watch the boats passing through as the bridge. It is quite interesting to see the bridge gets opened up to let a boat pass by. We went here for lunch, and ordered Salad & Soup combo, Crab Cake Burger and Whaler Burger. The food is «ok» — nothing too special, but the view makes everything better! Read my full review of this restaurant and food on my food blog, foodlovergirl.

Avoid at all cost. Clam roll was a large roll 80% full of tomatoes and lettuce one roll had six clams the other five. Clams covered with a red mayo sauce. Service was terrible

I would give this place 5 stars just to correct the low rating. Doesn’t deserve it. But I hold my 5 stars for something exception. This is not that, but it is a decent place to have dinner and drinks. I was here with a group of 10 worldly types and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the best salad that was good. Colleagues had good reports on the fish and chips(and one was Scottish). Fish tacos also got good reports

This was our first time to the Fishmonger’s café although having eaten in Woods Hole several times. The clam chowder was very tasty-not too creamy or salty! The mussels my wife had were the best she has had on the Cape this season. The Crab Cake Burger was good-the crab cake patty was complemented by a fresh hamburger role. Could have used a bit more aioli on the bun to offset the taste of the large crab cake. I have to say the most enjoyable part of the meal was the cole slaw. Crunchy, fresh and not too creamy-with a nice touch of peppers(green and red) added a very nice texture and flavor.

2.5 stars The Fishmonger has a pretty view but the night we went there was a band and a restricted menu. They also didn’t take credit cards which I found strange since it’s not a cheap place. I could see paying $ 24 for scallops if the dish came with nice sides, but french fries? I had the scallops and french fries and the scallops were overdone and slightly gritty. The service was extremely slow/non-existent so I had to get my own ketchup and we had to ask another waitress for malt vinegar. The best part of the Fishmonger is their beer selection!
