A lot of potential with the new ownership. I met Beth tonight at Christmas caroling. I wanted to present my name idea for the place. Since Quick’s Hole is, itself a local name(the passage between Pasque and Nashawena Islands) I chose another local waterway known to boating locals. This one is one of several narrow passages the separate Hadley Harbor from Lackeys Bay. Since the LeeSide sits in the Southeast corner of the village I propose«the Southeast Gutter» as a fitting name for the pub /restaurant. Deeply local and tied to the place. It’s too late apparently which, in my view is too bad.

Yes I agree the Leeside is a convenient establishment. But its bartender thought nothing about overcharging me. When I questioned him he claimed stupidity. I love the Leeside but count your change. Don’t ask for an apology because you will not get one.

Great place to have a beer(or six) and socialize with people from all over the country waiting for the ferry

If you need a quick beer while waiting for your ferry the Lee-Side is right next to the terminal. I had a couple of drafts while waiting for the ferry and the beer prices are average. Tthey have a large food menu but Methinks not. My mom always said you can tell everything about a eatery by how they keep their restrooms.

chow-DAAAAHHHHHH! I like to pop in here when it’s cold and windy and I have a few moments to spare before The Ferry departs for the Vineyard. Their chowder is really delicious, and they have a respectable selection of beers, which includes Sierra Nevada(no need to further elaborate — that’s an effing good beer). The bartenders are friendly and happy, which is a good thing since they’re the only ones who provide service during the off-season(no waitresses — go the the bar, place your order, get a table & they’ll bring it to you). The thing I like about the Lee Side is that it’s not a tourist trap. I feel like the only people who come in here are in-the-know Vineyarders waiting for the boat, or Cape Codders like me who get inside-intel from said Vineyardars. So, there are no annoying loud-mouths bossing their kids around and grappling with vacation nightmares. It’s a dimly-lit, somewhat dive-y old bar that locals patronize and respects itself. And they have decent grub. Defs a better spot to kill some time that the ferry terminal, kids!

My #1 all-time favorite bar. I’ve literally been going there since I was a baby(with my parents, of course)! I miss it a bunch now that I live in FL and always stop in-multiple times-when I’m back home.

This is a great little bar. Very popular for the local workers and ferry riders. The few times I’ve been were for NOAA employee going away parties and it was a great time with joke box tunes and lots of drinks. The food is decent the drinks are strong but it can get very crowded towards later in the night.

We islanders spend a great deal of time in the Lee Side. It’s the closest bar to the ferry, so when we are very early or our ferry is very late, we traipse over here with our suitcases and shopping bags for sustenance, a little time in front of a football game and local companionship. The food is not why you come here. It’s not known for its food. In fact, their food is really pretty bad. The Lee Side offers the usual chowder for those who ask for chowdah, fish and chips and bland, chewy calamari. The prices are high but they have a captive audience. What do you do? You are tired and freezing your ass off, it’s winter time and you are trying to avoid bumping into your old boyfriend with his hot looking new babe who seem to be heading onto the same ferry if it ever shows up. Go eat some greasy food, drink some cheap wine and you may become a Lee Side regular like the rest of us.

I came here again this year visiting a friend on the Cape. Great times… Watched the news, turned up the juke box. Bartenders were quick and made good drinks. It was pretty empty on a rainy Monday night, but picked up when the workers from other nearby restaurants/bars came in. Locals seem to love it… saw one old man that was definitely a regular busting a move.

My Woods Hole Port O call! An unapologetic hole in the wall cum dive bar that exists soley because of the ferry terminal… and thank God for that. If I could count how mant times I have been here waiting for the boat to cross or pick up people, I’d have to check into Edgehill Newport. Think of the Crow’s Nest from Perfect Storm only a tad dressed up. PBR was $ 2 pint or $ 7 a pitcher, hello George, its a wonderful life.

Now I had a pretty good experience here. I got the pizza with chorizo and portabella. Pretty darn good. Crispy crust and a happy portion of toppings. The cheese on the pizza could use a little improvement, but I am not sure how or why I even think this??? I may be a crackhead? I agree that a lot of things on the menu are overpriced. It is Woods Hole. Duh. I did not feel ripped off by the pizza. In fact, I found it to be a great value.

The Leeside is a savior! How often, stuck waiting in standby for the ferry, have my friends & I enjoyed their food. The pizza is pretty darn good for such a downscale place & the clams ungreasy and delicious. Those shocked by the prices might just not be used to eating out around here, but it’s never felt outrageous… A great place to get a cold Sam Adams, a helping of clams, and to watch the ferry come into view.(Great to-go, too, if the boat is in view, though ask the waitress how long the item you want takes – pizzas DO take a bit longer than normal & we almost missed the boat once, waiting for it).

the leeside is your regular overpriced cape cod bar. there’s nothing particularly special about this place except that it has nice tvs and you can actually hear the sound(unlike cap’n kidd). quite a few things on the menu are overpriced but you can fill up on free popcorn before you order an entrée. it’s that lackluster. no capitals.

After pedaling our way along Falmouth’s wonderful seaside bike trail we found ourselves in Wood’s Hole around dinner time. My girlfriend and i decided we would have dinner before heading home in an effort to avoid the Memorial Day traffic. We poke around and noticed that two other restaurants were significantly more expensive… so we went to the Leeside. Upon entering you head up a flight of stairs to the dining area. The view is great, but unfortunately since some bar patrons took to smoking directly below the windows we got a whiff of smoke after every exhalation which was about every 30 – 45 seconds. The décor was neat with old wide floors and your typical maritime flair. The doors to the kitchen were noticeably covered in grime. I knew it wasn’t going to be good. My companion and I opted for some chowder which was good. My gf also chose the lobster rolls, despite having eaten lobster the night before whenever she sees lobster or crab she must has that particular dish. Note, this was our downfall. After our en trees arrived, she realized that she had not inquired about the«market price» of said lobster roll. This lobster roll was huge. I had some steak tips with asparagus spears. The spears while tasty actually speared my mouth/throat since some spiny thing was left on them. My tips were charred but good. But not good enough to warrant the 15 price. The lobster roll was 20+ which meant the whole meal was over 50. So, go across the street and get something better because in the end it will cost the same. Or if you enjoy feeling underwhelmed then pull up a chair.

First! The leeside is a good place to tie one on when you’re stuck in stand-by waiting for the boat to the Vineyard. The chowder is just ok. Hold out for boat chowder. Get a few dark and stormies, and be on your way. The food is ok I guess… if you are starving!!! Seriously, nothing will beat boat dog + boat chowder.
