Burgers ice cream and ferries Jimmy’s is an ice cream and sandwich joint conveniently located right across the street from the Martha’s Vineyard Ferry. That makes it one of the very first places you see when you step off the ferry or a nice place to hang around when waiting for the ferry. The place is tiny but has a bunch of stuff on the menu including burgers, sandwiches, lobster rolls, wraps, milk shakes and a whole lot of ice cream. A couple of places to sit inside but the place gets crowded and sweltering for most of the summer so it’s usually better to take your calories outside at one of the little tables in the front. Assuming you can find one that isn’t occupied. The inside has some local maps available and even a schedule of the MV ferry scrawled on a blackboard. A nice touch is a bicycle pump that can be borrowed after biking all day on the local bike path or on the Vineyard. The food is pretty good and ice cream very good, especially considering how small and chaotic this place can get at times. The prices are pretty reasonable considering the location. A popular ice cream and sandwich shop that is definitely worth a stop. Unfortunately it closes on Columbus Day so you’ll have to wait until spring.

It was awesome! At first when I came in, looking its kitchen and extremely low traffic of crowds in there, I was hesitating and wanted to leave even though everything in the menu was reasonable for lunch ranging from $ 5 – 10 for sandwiches, burgers, etc. But my husband said«let’s try it out!» It was pretty good and definitely worth the price. The burger was good and lettuce was very fresh together with tomatoes. Spicy french fries were tasty too! A few other things that I like was they weren’t cheap or stingy on the quantity and good patio sitting! Highly recommend!

perfect place to stop in to get a quick bite before heading to the vineyard! We shared the fish sandwich and lobster roll, cost us a total of $ 20. We savored every bite. Lobster roll had huge chunks of lobster and the fish although fried tasted fresh. Definitely satisfying. They also have the ferry schedule on their board in case you arent sure what time your ferry is leaving!

How could anyone NOT like Jimmy’s? Simple, straightforward, yummy, quick, and inexpensive food. The Jimmy burger has got to be the best deal around and it is way better than any fast food chain. Their veggie wraps are also amazing. If you’re looking for décor or ambiance, go elsewhere.

Expensive. Crowded. Unfriendly staff. Food was edible, but small portions outweigh the expense. Two sandwiches and two small milkshakes were $ 25!!!

This is only for the ice cream. The line was long, the help was young, the day was hot. My kids were annoying as all get out. When we finally got our root beer floats and vanilla cone, I was pretty much a pissed off parent, however a few minutes on the outside of the shop enjoying the scene, and the ice cream put me back in my happy spot. I am really looking forward to going back to get some of the food, and updating then, but the ice cream is perfect for where and what it is.

I gotta say, I like Jimmy’s quite a bit. The entire staff is friendly and funny. During the summer months things can get really busy, but that’s a perfect time to call in your order so you don’t have to stand in line while everyone from the Vineyard orders a sandwich. They closed for the last winter but there are rumors they will be open for many hours of the day during the summer. I’m excited to go in ridiculously late and order some pizza after drinking at the Kidd. Also there is a liquor store right next to Jimmy’s. It’s fun to go there, get booze and bring it to Jimmy’s and have a beer with your pizza.

I was impressed at how quick they complete your orders especially with only one guy working the grill and sadwich station. I had the Turkey Club and it was very good. The staff was very courteous. The only reason why I won’t give these guys 5 stars is because they only accept cash and 9 times out of ten I have to hit an ATM to get cash.

*Sigh. I wish I had better things to say about this place, I really do. I work around the corner and its one of very few places that remains open long after the tourists disappear. They’ve got good prices for the most part and a good variety. My main complaint is inconsistency in quality AND price. This is the story of 3 Greek salad wraps over the course of 2 months. The first was on a quiet day in early May, still mostly just locals around, no lines to be seen. I asked for a Greek salad with chicken on top. The kid behind the counter advised me that if I got it as a Wrap it would be cheaper and I went with his suggestion. $ 6.95 total. It was really really good, just the right amount of dressing, packed with veggies, grilled chicken was tender and tasty, and banana peppers just made it awesome. Needless to say I had a hankering for another one a couple of weeks later. Little busier, girl I’d never seen behind the counter. I ordered a Greek salad Wrap WITHCHIX. price again was $ 6.95. I walked the few min back to my office drooling only to find no chicken, and WAY too much dressing. Disappointing! I believe in chances, so today I gave it one more try. Lines out the door which I expect at this time of the year. 1 Greek salad wrap with chicken and 1 bag of chips to the tune of: $ 11.95? I’m sorry what? Well its 3 $ extra for chicken — this time. What ever, I’m hungry, I’ll haggle some other time when there aren’t 20 people in line behind me. So I waited, and 15 min later I started the walk back to my office. This time, in addition to the inflated price, there was no Dressing and no sign of the banana peppers that made my lunch that first time. My suggestion to this place is a fixed paper menu(currently only a black board with menu, kudos for being green but what about a website if the paper is offensive?) to combat issues like this– maybe a description of items with fixed prices. Then sit down ALL of your people(especially the summer help) and train them on your menu.

im surprised that the first reviewer gave jimmys such low marks. It sounded like she was looking for the kind of service you find at a michelin-starred restaurant, not a hole-in-the-wall summer burger joint. things to get: Jimmy’s Burger Reuben Pulled Pork Sandwich ice cream things not to get: salads breakfast burrito = so-so

Awesome lunchtime food. The staff are great and the food is always quick. I work nearby so I’ve tried everything on the menu over the last year. I’d recommend the breakfast burritos, the Jimmy burger or the meatball sub, but you really can’t go wrong with most of the menu.

Perfect sandwich shop in woodshole — especially when you want something simple and not a large overblown lunch at a sit down restaurant. Had close indoor seating while you wait for your sandwich and a few tables ouside. Menu has standard and eclectic fare(fluffernuttrr sandwiches burritos and pizza)

i ordered the«black bean burger» which was promptly delivered to me obscenely charred, black, well beyond edible. i rarely return food, but this was ridiculous! when i took it back to the counter, Surly Grill Guy told Clueless Counter Kid«thats how its supposed to be». um, no. When i didn’t accept that answer, SGG told CCK they were out of them. CCK asks me if i’d like a regular burger instead? uh, wtf? if i ate regular burgers i probably wouldn’t have ordered your shitty, frozen black bean burger. When i wouldn’t walk away without some food, CCK offers me a veggie wrap. I said«sure. I’d like whatever veggies you’ve got, some cheese, and mayo.» 2 minutes later i was tossed a wrap containing various julienned veggies, a large amount of salad dressing, and a miniscule dollop of hummus. *sigh* Maybe i just ordered the wrong thing, i thought. I should’ve gone with the burrito? Sadly, my friend described his burrito as «a cross between a cheese steak… and crap». i was looking forward to having ice cream after my meal, but couldn’t bring myself to give them any more business after that. My friends said their ice cream was good. Probably Jimmy’s should just stick with that.
