The BBQ here is wonderful, perfect flavor. The portions are large. The potato salad is made with sour cream so different yet amazing. We also got the $ 201 lb pulled pork with 2 sides. We ate off that for days.

This small but fantastic restaurant is the best kept secret in downtown Woodstock. Skip the crowds and the overpriced food and drink of the usual downtown haunts and head here for ample parking, fantastic food, and a surprisingly wide and delicious selection of beers! The first time I came here was because another motorcyclist had let me know about the place and suggested the Cuban sandwich. He was dead on — the Cuban is savory, delicious, and satisfying in every way! This little bar also boasts a couple of local brewery dark beers(stout and imperial stout) as well as a brown on tap, and it is a lovely little«dark beer haven» for me. I’ve gone to Pure in Woodstock and asked for a dark beer and gotten blank looks. Dark beer fans, you are not stuck with going to Taco Mac any more! Come here for a nice selection of «not the usual fare» dark beers.“ The second time I came to J Millers I brought two friends. Service was fast and friendly and the bartender was very sweet and knew both the menu and the beer selection. Although she accidentally poured us one of us the wrong beer, she let us keep the beer and poured us the correct selection. One of my companions had the Cuban, another had the Philly steak sandwich, and I had the medium wings. Again the service was fast, the food piping hot and delicious, and people are right to rave about the wings — they are fantastic. This is definitely a great alternative to the pricey(and on weekend nights meat-market-y) bars in downtown Woodstock and you won’t get frustrated trying to find parking.

This was the first time we ate here. It was a little busy but the staff acknowledged us right away. Service was a little slow but good. When we got our food we had every intention of taking some home for dinner later but we cleaned our plates. We will definatley be back.

I’ve eaten here several times and the wings are the best I’ve had. The menu is loaded with a great selection of BBQ that allowed everyone to enjoy something. I’ve eaten the Cuban and it is loaded with flavor the food is hot when it is served and the beverages are cold. We catered 200 wings this past weekend and the crowd loved them their size was large and the meat was juicy not dried out like typical wings from other restaurants This place is worth the visit.

Yum-Q = awesome barbeque! J Miller’s is a great little local restaurant. The food is spot on, service is great and I love how the manager is very involved. The sign says«best cuban sandwich in town» and my teenager agrees! Smoked pork on a cuban is sooo good! I love the pulled pork and fried okra. Good bbq sauces too! The best item on the menu is the wings. Huge smoked wings that are the best in Atlanta. Just wish this place was a lot busier because it deserves to be packed every night! Casual atmosphere, great food, nice selection of local brews, patio area for the warmer times. Tell all your friends and check this place out!

I stopped by for lunch and got the Cuban as its boasted on the sign as the best. It absolutely was! Authentic with smoked pork was delish. You cant do fried okra wrong so it was a good side choice. Definitely will return for lunch. Totally satisfied for 7 $

I’ve lived in Woodstock for over a year now and kicking myself for not knowing about this restaurant earlier. J Miller’s Smokehouse is a hole in the wall right outside downtown Woodstock. When you walk you’re greeted by the employees. Very welcoming and nice. They have a decent size menu ranging from appetizers, sandwiches, salads, BBQ plates, and hotdogs. We’ve tried about everything on their menu have been satisfied every time. Their wings are one of my favorites. They’re smoked with a rich flavor and great sauce. Their Cuban BBQ sandwich is one of the popular dishes that is a unique sandwich we quite enjoy. The fried okra taste fresh and isn’t over breaded like most okra. The prices are more than fair. While their BBQ itself is definitely not out of this world or the best I’ve ever had they are a great place to curve your craving for some barbecue in the area. Better than the restaurant chains in the area.

Perhaps we just caught them on a very bad off night. The place was empty which should have been a sign for us. It was a chilly late December evening yet this place had the AC running and fans on. We needed to have our jackets on the entire visit. The bartender/server was pleasant so this review shouldn’t reflect poorly on her. We were told they were out of multiple food items… yet another ominous sign. Once the food arrived it tasted like it was thrown in a microwave. The ribs had some really bad taste to it we can’t even describe. They tasted like they were sitting out for awhile or were old. The fries were definitely old. They tasted like cardboard. I imagine they were cooked previously and then reheated in some way. The baked bans were lukewarm when arriving at our table. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty decent compared to the other food we ordered. Overall just not a good experience. We are not sure if we really caught them on a bad night or this is how they usually operate. We decided to try this place out since bub a que was closed. The ribs are not even on the same playing field as our preferred choice.

We went to this place twice. Thus my review is not based on a one time experience. Both times we went for lunch, and both times the service was very slow. The third time we went we left, as the waitress kept passing us and serving other customers, that had come in after we did. Cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The top of the sauce bottles were dirty each time we went. We even, politely, pointed this out the first time. However, they don’t seem to care. Floor was not clean either, and tables were sticky. The atmosphere was cheesy. Basically a few old tables and chairs in a strip mall. The biggest feature in the room are the bathroom doors. The food was rather mediocre at best. Nothing to write home about. Portions were generous, but the price for them was way to high. If you like good barbecue, you can do better with a McRib than eat at this place. Oh, and my husband did try the Cuban, and he was not impressed at all. As a foodie, and a retired chef, he knows what he is talking about. Sorry, J Miller, you waitress staff, and cleanliness, are below par. This is the South, and folks here take their Barbecue very serious around these parts. You’ll have to do better.

First time visitor. Service was prompt, place was nicer than a typical GA smokehouse likely because the area it is in. Pulled pork and slaw were very tasty. Wife had smoked wings and those were very good too. Looks like it will hold about 60 people so plenty of space and plenty of parking. Bottled beer and beer on tap. They have local brews… a big menu of them too!

Good food! Good beer! Great service! I consider myself a picky eater and I was impressed with the simplicity of just good old fashioned bbq. The Cuban sandwich is authentic, the ribs are righteous and the fried okra is a treat! Thank you to Taylor and Holly — great service!

Had the brisket sandwich with fries and mac n cheese. Sides were nothing special. Also had the southern fries — nothing special about them. They were salty and the chopped pork was dry. All the food was salty. Brisket was ok but a little dry(not as dry as the pork). Service was alright considering they only have one server working.

An excellent choice for new-comers in the area: We moved here last year and heard some great talks about this place for home-style BBQ. Location: Close to hwy 575 and hwy 92. Parking is easy, located in a decent shopping strip. The building itself is nice and clean. Food: A nice selection of pork, beef brisket, and even desserts. I normally have the lunch combo. One item I was not a fan of is the Mac and Cheese. It’s basically cooked shells with 1 layer of cheese layered on top. It is NOT gooey and mixed like most BBQ places which was disappointing. The Fries were an excellent alternative though. Price: Very reasonable if not better than competitors like Dream-Land in Alpharetta. For around 5 – 6 bucks you can get a great hearty lunch. Service: I’ve been here 4 – 5 times now over the last few months. Service has been consistent, well-manner, and very timely with food ordering time to refill drinks. I’ve never seen it crowded so its a good place to sit without a lot of ‘overtalking buzz’ in your ear like most busy restaurants. Overall Impression: A great place for a casual meal. Nothing fancy. I’m a HUGEBBQ fan so I must be conservative in my ratings. 3 is a nice, fair assessment. A few times that would get them 4 and 5 stars would be to prepare the side dishes in larger sizes and also fix the mac and cheese issue. Secondly, the beef was very tasty but 2 out of the 4 times I ordered the brisket, it was overtly dry. Could be a cook issue, but that’s my reasoning. Certainly worth a try if you’ve never had this place before.

Had the pulled pork and it was terrible. Had like grizzle pieces in it. Gave up half way through and threw it away. Wont be back for sure.

After reading the reviews on Unilocal this place was a place I had to check out plus it’s next to the outlets! This place is in kind of a dead shopping center on the corner but, I like the down home feel of the restaurant and outside seating area. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings and mac n cheese. The pork had a smoke taste but was on the dry side, definitely needed sauce. Their sauces are very good though so that’s a win. I liked that the bun was toasted so it wasn’t soggy. The mac n cheese tasted homemade and the onion rings were nothing special– just frozen and fried to order. My husband had the Smokehouse club that had pulled pork, chicken, bacon and cheese dressed with lettuce and tomato. He said it was ok but not impressed. After reading all the good reviews I expected the food to be much better. I’m very disappointed The restaurant appeared to clean and service was good!

If you drive on Towne Lake Parkway towards downtown Woo=dstock, chances are that you’ve passed by this place countless times. Big mistake. Next time, pull up the driveway into the little strip mall on the north side of the street, east of 575 and enjoy some of the best BBQ in town. We went at lunchtime on Saturday and were seated immediately in a restaurant that is spare on «ambiance.» The restaurant was crowded, with two large tables of customers plus some family groups. The only waitress that we saw was so busy she should have been outfitted with roller skates. Her food runner turned out to be the owner or manager who pitched in to cover the volume. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken lunch plate with fries. I ordered the«Texas Reuben» described on the menu as“bringing a northern favorite down home. smoked beef brisket, sauerkraut, a special bbq dressing, swiss cheese on a toasted roll.” It was everything the menu promised. I’m a New Yorker and I’ve had the original Reuben at the Carnegie, the Stage and Katz’s. This sandwich compares favorably to all of them. It’s definitely a knife-and-fork sandwich, overflowing with really tasty brisket. The«special dressing» was mustard-based which accented the smokiness of the beef. The sauerkraut was good, although it could have been a bit more vinegary. As a side, I ordered the onion rings. They were crisp, crunchy and nicely salted. My wife’s chicken was equally flavorful, although it did seem to have been marinated too long as the meat was a bit soft on the tongue and lacked a bit of that chewiness that one expects in BBQ chicken. Those who read my reviews will know my pet peeve about restaurants that charge $ 2.50 for a glass of iced tea. Not here. Iced tea served with a combo plate is FORTY-NINECENTS! During the meal the owner/manager stopped by our table. I complimented him on the Reuben and the onion rings. He smiled and answered«I’ll take credit for the Reuben, but we buy our onion rings. It’s good to know we selected the right product!» Based on that honest response, I asked about the cobbler. When i was told that it was med in house, i ordered some to go. I warmed it up that evening and it was quite good, although the topping could have used a bit of spice(cinnamon, nutmeg) to counter the inherent sweetness of the cobbler.

Visiting from South Florida, we came looking for some good Southern Barbecue and boy were we disappointed! The barbecue we had there was just not as good as barbecue I have had elsewhere. We started with a few appetizers: Mozzarella Sticks, BBQ Chicken Wings, and«Southern Fries»: fries topped with onions, pork barbecue, and cheeses. All of this good old junk food was pretty average. The fries sounded interesting but we barely touched them. I ordered a combo plate with chicken chunks and pulled pork. The pulled pork was not cooked in any barbecue sauce and was somewhat dry. The chicken was a little dry as well. I tried husband’s brisket. This had a bit more flavor than the other meat but was chewy and also somewhat dry. To combat the dryness of the meat, there were three types of barbecue sauce: sweet, Carolina vinegar, and mustard. I usually enjoy sweet barbecue sauce but this was not sweet enough. I also tried several sides. The Baked Beans were passable. The Mac & Cheese was not good. I did not like the cole slaw, which had a vinegar base. 10 year old had a bit of difficulty as he was dying for ribs and the place was out of ribs. What? A barbecue place out of ribs? He was very upset until he decided to get a «custom» hot dog”, which our server graciously agreed to do. His creation was a hot dog topped with pulled pork and he loved it. The other item we enjoyed was a cup of Brunswick Stew, free with my Unilocal check in! It was probably the best item we ordered. Our server was very nice and our food came out super fast. Still, it was not enough to make up for the very average food.

They have a great family deal for an easy take home meal. Enjoy bbq and 2 sides but i do not like their Cole slaw. It is a vinegar base, but the bbq chicken and pork is great. My kids like the Mac and cheese because it is very cheesy. The restaurant is rarely crowded and makes for a great dine in choice for busy family evenings.

Came in here with my wonderful counterpart. We both ordered a pulled pork sandwich and we saw on Unilocal that we would get free Brunswick stew if wechecked in. The stew was really flavorful, and the meat in the sandwich was so tender and delicious! Our waitress was also very nice. We then ordered cobbler. It came out warm with a scoop of ice cream. This place is better than Dreamlands BBQ. 5 stars!

This place is great! Went here with the hubby and kids after church. I got the Brunswick stew and he got the pulled pork sandwich. Great fried okra. Free grilled cheese with adult purchase. Cute checkered tablecloths, chalkboard menu, nice homey feel. Liked the waitress. Lunch prices are cheap!

This may have been some of the best fried okra we’ve ever had. Crispy. Flavorful. Nothing mushy about the okra. Just right. The cole slaw is not a mayonnaise-based thing. Though I admit, I’m used to having some of the creamy stuff to stack on the occasional barbecue sandwich. This stuff was good. I had the beef brisket. Delicious. Clearly someone is hand-crafting their barbecue here. They’re putting some love into their art. There are two sauces on the table: a sweet/tomato and a mustard sauce. Both delicious. Distinct flavor profiles which perfectly compliment the brisket. And the baked beans are simply a crowd-pleaser. And J. Miller’s is not too expensive, especially if you’re buying for a larger family. Their family packages drops the cost per person to something like $ 4 each. Service was also very quick and friendly. I’ll happily go back to J. Miller’s. Holler if you’re coming with.
