STAY away, horrible experience. SERVICE– Waitress was awful, took forever to have her come over to take drink order, then another 10 to actually GET the drinks. Wasn’t friendly, just literally threw the food down and walked away.(Saw her do this to others too). Clearly didn’t want to be there. FOOD– started with the pepperoni bread appetizer. Came out warm on top, cold(half frozen) on bottom. Asked for them to heat it up, and they threw it is the microwave, which made it soft and soggy. Flavor wasn’t good, sauce tasted cheap like out of a can. We ordered the fish sandwich and a pasta and both were bland and unappetizing. Do not recommend!

This place has the most amazing crab rangoons ever! It’s all in the sauce, an extra spicy, not too sweet medley that is certain to tantalize your taste buds with steamy scovels of burning pepper oil extracts on a extra crispy, freshly made cream cheese infused delight. The pizza offerings, prepared on artisan crusts with fine cheese and sauces are also delightful. A full bar will keep your spirits elevated as will the friendly and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant also shares menu’s with it’s in house sister restaurants, T.J.‘s(fine dining) and C.W. Burgsteins(higher-end bar and grille offerings). A definite consideration for friends, families and romantics that are seeking something other than what the usual suspects of chain food joints are offering.

Melvin’s is a great lunch spot to meet with friends in a quiet atmosphere. The lunch menu is varied from salads, sandwiches and entrees. I ordered a Salmon salad which was delicious. It contained a fresh assortment of greens, asparagus, small mozzarella balls, and a nice piece of baked salmon on top. Delicious. One of my other favorite salads is the Cobb. My friend ordered the Cobb and we were both disappointed with it’s presentation. Usually it comes with the chicken, blue cheese, eggs and bacon bits separated on top as is typical with most Cobb salads. However, this time it came as a mixed salad. You had to hunt for the chicken, blue cheese and bacon as it arrived in as a mess. Apparently this is a new version of the Cobb. To me it was quite a disappointment. We had a lovely waitress and this salad is not a total reflection on Melvin’s food. The food is good and worthy of note. But I can’t give the restaurant 5 stars due to the nature of the Cobb salad. Maybe the Chef will rethink this change.

How has Melvin’s never been reviewed? It is a) not the same as TJ’s, though, admittedly, owned by the same people and in the same building, but b) has better food and waitstaff. Melvin’s is the perfect casual night out. It is friendly waitstaff, okayishnotreallybutyou’llgowithit beer/wine selections, and decent food. You can take your family. You can take your friends. You can take your visiting boyfriend. You can sit at the bar. Yay Melvin’s! Truth: this is the first restaurant I ever visited in Wooster. Way back in 2006, when I was a tiny freshman about to move into my tiny dorm room.
