I was hesitant due to the poor Unilocal reviews but we had a great first experience. We love that it’s BYOB. We came for Worcester restaurant week and got a delicious fried goat cheese and pear salad as well as tender braised beef with polenta for appetizers. Both were delicious. Our entrees were the veal and eggplant. The eggplant was typical and good but the veal excellent though smaller in portion compared to German cuisine. We finished with the almond tiramisu and cannoli. The almost added great texture and flavor to the tiramisu. I loved the mini cannoli so much I ordered it after again! We had attentive service. Would come back.

Sad. First of all we get there for a family dinner with reservations for 11. We were 4 chairs short. Then they add on a wobbly baby table that was approximately 2 inches away from the other party. After that, the waitress asked me to see my ID if I was drinking, being underage I said no. However I was never offered any other drink so I was stuck with water. On a side note, there was never enough bread. 2 small baskets for 11 people. Anyway even after all that the food was simply decent. I was hoping to get fantastic food so I could bump the rating to 2⁄5 but oh well

We are big fans of café espresso. We had dinner here last night. There were 11 of us. Our waitress Juna was the best!!! Our favorite thus far. She was friendly, funny, accommodating, and really knew her stuff :) we love that they are BYOB and everything is made to order :) the pasta is delicious. 3 people in our party ordered the Rib Eye special and they were in heaven. Cooked perfectly. As were all of our entrees. We will be back for sure. Highly recommended.

I love this place! The food is very very good and with the BYOB extremely affordable. The service is good and quite helpful. A friendly bustling atmosphere, make sure you make reservations on the weekend!

Started off well with a delicious bread and oil combo. The soup was ok. The appetizer ordered was described as crab, shrimp, spinach and marscapone. What I got was a cup full of cream cheese with the obscure spec or two of what could be spinach and a tiiiny amount of flavorless seafood surrounded by rock hard pieces of toast. Could have had the same effect throwing some philadelphia cream cheese in the microwave and serving stale bread. The chef came out with a defensive talk about how I should have known what I was ordering. Not going back based on the rude waitstaff and unreasonable reaction that I got from the chef(not to mention the overly rich and flavorless appetizer)

Delicious food! Lovely atmosphere and great service. The staff is always friendly. Pasta is homemade. BYOB is a nice touch. Their tiramisu is amazing! Lots of options on the menu and they all look so good I usually have a hard time deciding because I want to try everything. Either way, whatever you decide on will be delicious. And a good excuse to come back to try something else. Love it here! Truly is a hidden gem! My favorite place to go.

I’ve been to Café Espresso Trattoria 3 times and it was awesome. I have to say that the service was top notch. I usually order the chicken parm, which is usually excellent. Tonight I have to say that it was much less than that. The chicken was so thin and way over cooked — dry as a bone even with the sauce. I should have told the waitress and returned it but we were a large party so I kept quiet. Another persons ziti was a bit mushy — gross to say the least. I don’t think this is typical but I want to let the caffe know so they can improve.

It took us nearly an hour to get our dinners and when they came, though a few were good, mine was awful. It was supposed to be a tortellini dish with a tomato brandy cream sauce with mushrooms, ham, and olives. It was a bowl of tortellini in a cream sauce(no hint of tomato or brandy) with two slivers of ham, four mushroom slices, and two olives. And I waited an hour for that!

One star is too much, but I suppose even the bottom of the barrel has to contain some backwash. No ziti, no spaghetti, no angel hair and they call this place Italian? Avoid at all cost!

Had an amazingly memorable meal and dining experience on my birthday in 2014. I have been looking for a way to return as it is at the high end of my dining budget. It is in my neighborhood and in my opinion very much worth the expense.

One of the hidden gems of Worcester County… The owner, the staff, and the food are all top notch. My wife, son, and I recently went there for dinner and I ordered the Salmon. About 2 weeks earlier, I had a nephew in from Arizona and he wanted Seafood… and he likes to go to Sole Proprietor whenever he comes to Worcester… I ordered Salmon on this night as well… and for an all Seafood restaurant, I was not impressed… at all. I ended up ordering the same dish at Café Espresso… and the Salmon was cooked to perfection… the food was excellent, the sides were excellent… everything was top notch… This is why we have been going to Café Espresso… even when it was on Wall Street… Please keep up the great work!

Great authentic Italian cuisine! I had dinner here last night with a client. Despite being very picky with poultry, I decided to try the chicken picatta with the homemade cavatelli. Its was simply delicious and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Food quality and presentation 4 stars. Wait staff 1 star. We ate lunch there and there was only 2 tables so we should have received great service. Our waiter had only us. I had the veggie pasta medley(forgot the menu name). The waiter told me it contained mushroom, green beans, broccoli, peppers and squash. I asked for no mushrooms and it came with carrots, broccoli, onions and zucchini. What? Glad I liked most of the veggies I got. Waiter said the meal came with a soup or salad. I ordered the salad but he delivered soup to me. The soup was tasty. However when we received the bill we were charged for the soup. They bake the bread fresh to order and it was very good, as was the oil dip. We had to wait really long for refills. Our waiter was just standing around. The bread took long to arrive. The soup/salad took 20 minutes. The entrée was an additional 20 minutes. We had the homemade pasta and it was very good. The cannoli are not on the menu but come on a set of 3 minis. good but too expensive. We waited 20 minutes after we were finished for our bill to come, and an additional 20 minutes for our waiter to figure out how to redeem our coupon. 2 hours for lunch is just stupid and there was no reason for it. The manager apologized for the wait time on the coupon redeem but at that point I was ready to just walk out. I will come back for the food but if the service is this bad next time I will not be back.

Suggested this restaurant to my family after a google search for«best restaurants in Worcester», after attending my sister’s college graduation. Based on the generous reviews, we decided to check it out. Driving to the restaurant may not have been the most scenic, and the fact that it was located in a strip mall may have been a little off putting at first. But upon walking in, you couldn’t tell what was outside, so I don’t want to factor that into my review. The restaurant has a byob policy, which was different, but nice because typically the mark up on alcohol is quite a bit. Our waitress, Juna, was extremely helpful and polite. My father is a native of Italy and she went above and beyond to help us and make sure everything was up to his high standards. The food was delicious… I got a Veal Sorrentino dish, which had veal obviously, eggplant, and prosciutto atop a serving of homemade pasta. I am hesitant to order veal anywhere unless I am confident it will be good, and it didn’t disappoint. Overall, extremely pleased, and would surely return if I am ever in the area again!

What a great hidden spot! Area looks a little sketchy and the restaurant is located in the back of a little shopping plaza if you could even call it that. We came here to celebrate a graduation over the weekend and we very impressed. I was a little weary when we walked in because we were one of the only tables in the place(it was about 4:30 so pretty early still) but the food and service was great. As we were leaving the place was filling up. Everyone loved everything and the BYOB is great because you save money bringing your own drinks! 7 Entrees and a dessert came to 170ish dollars which I didn’t think was bad. We would return if we come to the area again.

Wow! This was place was so good! The pasta is homemade and everything tasted so fresh. The portions were a good size too. The location was odd. It is tucked away in a plaza with Rite Aid and a salon so we drove by it at first. Another thing I found odd was that it is BYOB. I have never encountered a BYOB restaurant before so maybe it’s not as strange as it seemed to me. On the plus side, if you would like some wine with your meal, there is a liquor store directly across the street. I definitely recommend this place. I got back from eating here about 20 mins ago and have already texted some friends in the area to tell them it was great!

Oh noooooo. what happened to my once favorite little trattoria? Mom and I went for a late lunch. We were the only patrons. Not a good sign. The server was helpful and attentive. The bread was stale. My salad was crisp and fresh. Mom’s mushroom lentil soup looked and tasted blah. Mom’s seafood pasta had tons of linguini but only a few bits of seafood. some mediocre shrimp, four small mussels and a few pieces of calamari. My egg plant parm was good with homemade cavatelli. The cheese was a powdery commercial sort of Parmesan. Booo. what happened to freshly grated at the table? Two tea options, Rite Aid brand and Lipton. lame o! Won’t be going back with too many other amazing choices in Wootown,

I ordered veal Parmesan, which is a nice dish to order to gauge an Italian place by. Unfortunately, the parm didn’t pass muster. The veal was pounded too thin and coated in too much breading. It was then topped with undercooked sauce and paired with profoundly overcooked pasta. While the service was good, it wasn’t enough to offset the technical deficiencies in the food. My search for a good restaurant in Worcester continues.

I really don’t understand the hype — the food here is overpriced and not good. Nothing tasted fresh at all and every dish we had was overcooked and gray. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars was because the staff were absolutely wonderful — friendly and welcoming. Despite that, I would never come back here. Edit: Not sure why the owner/chef tried to discredit my review by pointing out my most recent reviews were from out of state. First, that shouldnt matter whatsoever, second, if you took the time to troll my profile you should have seen I’m from Mass., and third, I travel a lot which makes me a thoughtful and diverse Unilocaler. Elite for 6+ years, for what it’s worth. There is cold comfort in an insincere comment full of obvious stock language.
