Main Moon

My coworkers and I ordered several meals today. Its close to work, we love Chinese, they deliver… its all good, right? WRONG! Sesame chicken started out decent, however, as we got lower in the dish it became obvious that older chicken was refried and resauced. It was too hard to cut with a knife. The General Tsos had a good top layer, then the last 2/​3s was inedible. Honey chicken, same thing. It was obvious they refried old chicken and reserved it.
Egg rolls…2 good ones, the third so greasy it squeezed out the other end when I took a bite.
They didn’t screw up the fortune cookies… pretty much the only nice thing I have to say about this place. Never again, main moon! Wish I didn’t have to give them 1 star to leave this review.

Food is always hot and they come very fast for delivery. Sucks that they are randomly closed on Monday but the quality is great. I never have any complaints. I love the fried rice. My wife and I order about once per week. I’m impressed! Better than any other Chinese I’ve had in Columbus.
Edit: Sadly, my last two visits have been horrible. They only gave me 3 shrimp in my shrimp and broccoli combination and told me it’s because the dinner portion comes with more but the combo is only 4 – 5 but I didn’t even get that! My wife orders the hot spicy pepper beef but it came with so many onions and peppers there was barely any beef. Fried race quality has gone down. Looks like white rice with soy sauce on it. I’m so sad — I loved this place.

Best Chinese delivery around. The food is always tasty and fresh. They arrive so fast and are always nice and pleasant delivery drivers. I have ordered many times and never had a bad meal.

I seriously don’t know why people are giving Main Moon so many bad reviews. It’s basically a «take-​out» Chinese place, so you know what you’re getting up front.
With that being said, their food is pretty good. Their portions are significant, and we have yet to order something we don’t like. Our main issue is they are closed on Monday, but other than that, we are happy, regular customers!

My kids at OSU said I needed to order from Main Moon. They were right. We ordered the Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, chicken pad Thai, and hot and sour soup.
All four dishes were nicely prepared and arrived steaming hot. I have no criticism of any dish. The sauces were distinctive and true to their names.
Since we ordered on a Thursday night at 9:40PM, I was not expecting such high quality. They have my business from now on.

Really hoped for good Chinese food that delivers to my place, but this wasn’t it. Delivery time was fine but the entrée had 3 shrimp and 3 bites of chicken, the rest was all chopped celery and carrots. The fried rice was simply rice with soy sauce on it and was too dry to eat on its own. Too bad there wasn’t enough sauce from the entrée to save it either. The egg roll was unnecessarily, and unappealingly, greasy and the potstickers were dry. So disappointing. No more delivery for me; I’ll just go back to picking it up from Sunflower.

Very underwhelming. Took over an hour for delivery and the order was missing the egg rolls I ordered. This was the second time we ordered from here and took almost an hour for delivery both times, and both times the food was not impressive.
The general tso’s sauce was more like slime and the pieces of chicken in the sweet and sour chicken were tiny/​mostly breading. The sweet and sour sauce was actually pretty good though. Crab rangoons also lacked filling. Almost completely just deep fried dough.

I’m disappointed. Just moved to the neighborhood. I was hoping for some good American-​Chinese or Chinese-​Chinese, but neither to be found here I’m afraid.
We ordered egg rolls, hot & sour soup, fried gyoza, house-​special fried rice, chicken & vegetable, and by recommendation, General Tzos chicken very spicy.
Nothing was spoiled. Nothing was good. All sauces were disgusting, gelatinous blobs, of un-​flavored goop. The soup, also goop. The flavors ranged from salty only to flavorless goop, did I mention the goop. Fried rice was the best and it was pretty terrible.
I do not recommend. Let me know when someone else buys this place.
What a shame.

This was my first visit to Main Moon, and I’m not sure I’d go back. I ordered the General Tso’s lunch special to go, so I can’t really comment on the ambiance or décor. Let me start with the positives-​you get a lot of food for your money. The container that the egg drop soup was in held at least 2 – 2 ½ cups, and the food was nice and hot. Unfortunately, while the egg drop soup had a nice flavor, it was incredibly gelatinous. It was a very odd sensation to be eating a hot soup that had the texture of loose jelly. I have to agree with another reviewer about the fried rice-​it had the taste and texture of regular boiled rice and did not include what I consider to be fried rice staples, scallions and eggs. The chicken filled about half of the container, more than enough for a lunch portion. The sauce, while overly sweet had a nice heat to it and was just a bit tough and chewy. The three lonely broccoli florets stood out for their bright green color but were really undercooked. If I do go back I think I will look for menu items that aren’t fried and/​or heavily sauced.

I have mixed feelings about main moon. I am obsessed with wor sue gai. I try it where ever they serve it. so when I got it delivered I was pretty excited. the sauce was good and the chicken was fried perfectly however the egg roll was awful! it had a nice crunchy outside but the filling is just mush. on top of that the fried rice was basically white rice tossed in a pan for 3 seconds and served. I will order again to make sure it wasnt a fluke. I had really high hopes for this place

These guys need to practice more on the taste of their food then the speed of it’s delivery. The moved so fast to bring it here they forget a part of the order and promise to bring me what I asked for but they never did. FAIL!

Good– very fast delivery, decent portions
Bad– everything else… Hot and sour soup– thick pasty and tasteless neither hot or sour. Egg rolls– nothing but cabbage perfectly cooked but no flavor. Kung po chicken– bland raw veges no heat. Beef with garlic sauce– bland no heat. Had a friend recommend this place. Save your $$. Call elsewhere. Disappointed as close to my home hoping for better

I have had two orders delivered from this restaurant and the food is really good. The delivery is very fast.

Since moving to Worthington, we haven’t been able to find a good Chinese restaurant. So happy that we found Main Moon. Got the tofu and broccoli — delish! Healthy food (they don’t use MSG) and thrifty.

Good sizes portions but very little meat in them Bland taste wont go back

Apparently this place is under new management (with a new cook) as of Feb ’13, so the previous reviews may need to be discounted. Regardless, after months of not being able to find decent take-​out Chinese food after moving to Cbus from SF, I finally found satisfaction at Main Moon. Ordered the shrimp/​veg stir-​fry and the mu-​shoo chicken (total $ 19 with rice and tax), and enjoyed both. They were both fresh, tasty, and plentiful, and unlike other Chinese food I’ve had in town, neither was salty or greasy.
I’m happy to finally have a go-​to Chinese take-​out place near my home.

I stopped in for lunch recently, actually looking for the previous tenant. They offer a fairly standard menu and the dishes I had were just ok. The chicken I tried were very salty with thick sauce. The hot and sour soup I tried was also over-​thickened. The one big positive is that my stir-​fry did come with lots and lots of veggies. The waitress was very attentive and the service was quick. Main Mood makes a decent stop for a quick lunch and would probably work well for take-​out.

Tasty and inexpensive. Clean tasteful décor. Common array of Chinese food. Nice owners. Great to have as a neighbor.
