We stopped in here for lunch after a long ride up. My husband and I both ordered the buffalo chicken sandwiches and they were not very good, his had one flat thin chicken strip and mine had three small well done chicken nuggets. We were expecting real chicken breasts. Food came out hot, the service was friendly and quick. Desert peanut butter pie was delicious. I think we just ordered the wrong thing on the menu.

Because this establishment encompasses two quite different parts, a coffee shop and a bar, I think it’s fair to address them separately. *** Evergreen Café The fare here is just about standard for mountain town coffee shop, served in a homey atmosphere. Wouldn’t turn it down if somebody else was paying, but wouldn’t go out of my way for it either. Recommend the chili. * Raccoon Saloon Probably better to leave this one to the locals. The beer is cold and the bartenders are friendly, but this tends towards the sad-sack end of the dive bar spectrum. Docked major points for the smelly old guys getting handsy with the girls.

Great local color, extreme wintertime kitschiness, small-mountain-town feel. The staff aren’t there to give the greatest service, but they feel like part of the place, and that’s kind of nice. There’s a fan that blows a mighty wind from the far side of the room and all the way out the front door, drying out eyeballs, chilling hot food, and offering a bit of indoor weather if the weather outside weren’t enough. But no matter what the weather, if you need to wait for a seat, there’s no waiting inside. It ain’t aloud. Fire Marshall. You gotta wait outdoors, where not even the slightest patio cover or overhangs exists to keep you dry. Now all of the above mentioned are fine by me and really add to the place. What I didn’t like was the food. Not good at all. Doesn’t even taste like it’s trying to be decent. I did not, however, try everything on the menu, but just a couple breakfast items: an omelette and corned beef hash to be exact. Both were edible, but just not good in any other way than that. I saw some pancakes at another table that looked good, though. Damn, should have tried the pancakes. Ah, hell, should have just gone somewhere else.

Stopped here after a day of snowboarding at Mtn. High. A fairly small restaurant but luckily, we were seated right away. Definitely a great little grease spoon restaurant if you’re in the mood for a cheeseburger or some chili.

This is by far one of the most rudest restaurant I have ever been to. My friends and their family went to this place and told us that since were 14 people they cannot accommodate us all but we asked if we be separated and they said ok but we had to wait. It took us sometime for the first batch was let in but one of the employees yelled at us for not making the front door open and close and because of that they just kicked us out of the place. It would be fine for us but at least have the decency of telling us nicely! This restaurant on I think is for four to five people. They should have told us early on that they can’t give us service. I will never return to this place ever!

Just Don’t!!! Rude, rude, rude!!! Walked out, and thank goodness we did. the service sucks, and I later heard from others that had been there before that the food i awful. Very rude older lady was cleaning an empty table, told us to sign in because there was a wait… there was nobody waiting! The worst part is, she said we had to wait outside in 35 degree weather with our 6 year old son!!! Obviously we didn’t stay!!! Soooo rude and inconsiderate! We were in Wrightwood for a couple of nights, we ate the Mexican restaurant up the street, excellent service. Also ate at the Grizzly Café, also great service and awesome food!!!

Wrightwood was very busy with skiers and snowboarders and every restaurant had over a half hour wait. We chose this café and I’m glad we did. It is a typical mom & pop restaurant. Serves breakfast all day. Also has an adorable counter you can sit at, as well. Very quaint and friendly. It is not a large environment but they do have outdoor seating, too. Did it take a little longer to get the food? Yes. But the food also tasted like home cooking. Are they high tech? No. Was the staff pleasant even though stressed with crowd volume? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. The Chicken sandwiches were great, the buns were so fresh and toasted. The French fries are AMAZING. The table next to us had the largest and most delicious looking Chicken Fried Steak & eggs I’ve ever seen. Then the on the other side was the best looking pancakes and they smelled fabulous. I also liked the way the staff helped each other to get the job done. Would I return? Yes, and I look forward to it.

Service= horrible Recently bought a place up in wrightwood. Twice I’ve gone there with family/friends. The whole time sitting there waiting and waiting for my food, all I hear is the lame waitresses complaining about how busy it is and debating on who has which table to serve. They make the it sound like we(customers) are inconvienencing them. It’s embarrassing to hear the way they bark at the customers who walk in the front door wanting to be seated. It’s the way they talk to the customers. Disgusting, unprofessional and rude. It makes me feel weird when just sitting at the counter. As a manager for a government agency, if I ever heard my employees treat the public like this, I would write them up. If they don’t improve… Then termination of employment. It starts with management. Train your employees. Unless your part of the problem.

I am a huge supporter of small family owned businesses that prosper when times are really needed. With the New Year, first big storm and a huge weekend for a small town, you would think management had the lecture of «we might be busier than than the past five or so years put together(when was the last time you had snow like this?) so be patient and don’t let traffic waive your ability to sell Evergreen. Smile over the phone, be patient and please speak clearly!» A man answered the phone, sounding irritated already, and when I called after my greeting(general greeting for new year) «Happy New Year! How long is the wait or do you have a wait at this time?» I get«(mumbling…mumble…crash of dishes… mumble…indecipherable words.) maybe… ty or so minutes.» I asked so you said thirty minutes or so or twenty?” He says«ok I have to go». Hung up on me. Just lost $ 90. Note to the man. If someone says«twenty or thirty» that generally means«I’m sorry I didn’t hear you clearly.» I guess next time I should say«I’m sorry I didn’t hear you could you repeat that more clearly?(which then indicates your speech was unclear now THAT is rude of ME isn’t it? Which did you prefer?) My momma always said«people can hear a smile over the phone so always answer phones with a smile!»

Great food in the past. This time it was slightly crowded, waitress asked us to wait outside in 30°weather. The counter was open and 2 large booths. After 10 – 15 minutes a table opened and the waitress never called us.. Then she sat two people at the counter that walked in after us. Oh, and I’m a local too. Great way to treat your local customers. When I go back and she is there I will turn around and go to the grizzly café. She doesn’t want my business. Hopefully the owner will address this.

Evergreen is my favorite spot for breakfast in Wrightwood(plus its served all day!!!) Their portions are huge. You can share your plate with another person. I really like their chicken fried steak(the bigfoot), steak n eggs, biscuits n gravy, and their hashbrowns. I am a local, and I will keep going back.

I do seasonal work in Wrightwood and been to several businesses in the area. I’ve experienced great customer service at almost all of them. Evergreen Café is the exception. There are about 8 people waiting outside to get in. I walk in, see an empty seat at the counter, sandwiched between two couples on both sides who had just started eating thier meals. I asked the older, gray-haired lady if I could sit at the counter. «No, there are people who have been waiting for 45 minutes and I need to seat them.» I hear the counter couple closest to me mumbling what I’m thinking to myself — something along the lines of «she should seat him since nobody’s sitting there and he’s evidently the only party of one». Strike 1. I ask for a menu thinking I’ll get a to-go order. After studying the menu, I order some stuffed hash browns and ask: «How much do you charge for scrambled eggs?» She could have simply said: «two for 2.50″. But instead, in a rushed and rude tone, the older, gray-haired lady says: „It’s in the menu, right down there“ and quickly points at the bottom of the menu.» Obviously, I didn’t see it. And even after she pointed, it still took a moment for me to find it. Strike 2. At this point I’m pissed. But the food looks amazing. So I overlook the comment and place and order anyway. Right before paying, I ask: «Can I sit at the empty counter seat while I wait.» She replies, «No. I already told you I need to seat people who have been waiting». I say, «But no one is sitting there. So how about I sit there until the people on either side leave and you have enough to actually seat a party?» She says«No. Do you still want to order?» I told her no and politely left. Strike 3. It’s been YEARS since I’ve experienced customer service this bad. And it was evidently personal because I’m sure business wouldn’t be that good if all the customers were treated in such a rude and unreasonable way.

I brought my adult male friend and teenage son, both of whom had not eaten a bite all day. I had lunch earlier, so I wasn’t hungry. Until…, After a full day of skiing, we pulled to Evergreen café. Both of my companions ordered the chicken fried steak. I should have been suspicious when the waiter asked how they wanted THREE eggs cooked, hash browns or home fries, and a choice of toast, biscuits/gravy, or a pancake. Well, they brought biscuits with gravy first. My son dove in head first. I grabbed a spoon and tried to grab a few bites whenever I could. Goodness. You wouldn’t believe the plate that arrived next. It could have fed an entire family. Worth a trip even if you can’t finish everything. Bring it home for late night munchies or for the next day

Worst place EVER!!! The owner is nothing more than a simple bitch. We had a dog that helps my dad at his retirement home and they asked me for a card! That’s even ILEGAL! I left my dog outside in the sidewalk and she still told me she will not serve me unless I locked my dog inside the car. Food is awful! We asked for ribs and they said they didn’t have it, we asked for broiled chicken and they said it will take 15 minutes!!! I had to tell the waiter«tell me what you have then because you have my dog melting in the car!!!» You have many other places around… I’m asking you to choose any because this is the worst experience

This is my go to spot after a nice hike along the pacific crest trail. I’m not sure what people are talking about when it comes to bad service, the two times I’ve been here the employees of this establishment have been very friendly. The evergreen breakfast that I got both times is pretty damn good too.

We came here today when our usual restaurant had a 2 hour wait. When we decided to order some food to-go, we were pleasantly surprised. The burgers and onion rings were so good here! My husband ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. He really liked his salad! Covered with tender, delicious chicken, he said this salad was really good. I was so hungry and really craving that burger and onion rings. The burger was cooked to perfection and the lettuce, tomato, and onions were fresh and delicious! Those onion rings were great too. They were so yummy that we finished them in a flash. My son ordered the kids’ chicken tenders and thought this was good too. We’re so glad we found this little restaurant. Not only was the service friendly, but the food came out fairly quickly. In the bustling town of Wrightwood, it’s nice to know there’s another good restaurant when everything gets so busy here. We were really impressed with how great the salad, burger, and chicken tenders were!
