Went for lunch. Was dead inside but food was pretty slow to come out. Tacos were delicious however. Realized a few days later when we asked to have the bill split they ended up charging us 3 times each! Called and left a voicemail but didn’t get a response and had to open a dispute with my bank. Ended up going in for coffee and bagels the following day as well. Took 25 minutes for 3 bagels and coffees and the manager was giving us a bad vibe the whole time. Def will not go back here again!

Tricky to find with GPS(it’s at the bend next to the zoo parking lot). With everything closed in town in winter, it’s one of the only open breakfast places in the area. It’s very cute, it is very«Maine». It has a mom and pop feel. I liked it because it felt anti-chain. Fast service, nice people, food and coffee were very good. All good!

There isn’t much open in York after Labor Day. A few other restaurants which looked promising were closed for the season. Stopped at this place because it had a favorable menu for lunch and eating outside was a bonus on a glorious day in one of the last of summer! The menu was loaded with many tasty sounding gems! We settled on a chicken salad wrap(loved the touch of cranberry) and Ham with warm Brie panini to split. Here’s the rub, they looked to be understaffed and we waited quite awhile for simple food. The waitress(who was very pleasant and friendly) brought what closely resembled our order to a table that no one was sitting at.(There may have been people there at some point, but I can’t recall.) There it sat for about 5 minutes. Then it went back inside. A few minutes later our food came out. I asked of the waitress«this wasn’t the food that was sitting on that empty table.?» The response was«no, they must have left.» «Oh ok great!» Anyway the panini was slightly cool and no birds had picked at anything so that was good. :) I’ll have to apply the Occam’s Razor principle here, the simplest answer is the more true. I’ll give it a second chance sometime, maybe breakfast, maybe they can earn that next star.

Love it there! Go all the time on my work breaks. love the salads especially the little chip/cookie thing that comes with it. Defenitly recommend coming here. Just wish I could eat take out at the tables. you should set some tables aside for people to sit and eat their take out!

«0 stars if I could! Rode our bikes here for coffee and donuts. Went in and ordered at the counter and paid. Went to sit down inside and all the tables say table service only. Not one person sitting inside. Went outside and they won’t allow you to sit at the outsid…»

Great omelette had the Meat lovers with bacon, sausage, ham and some purple onion to round off the flavored. Well done. Good wheat toast, heavy whole grain. The home fries were a little weak having a slight freezer burned after taste. Over a great experience. The outside seating was perfect on a 70 degree day. Very courteous staff was right on target keeping the coffee coming.

It was OK food for most at my table, hence the 3 stars. I had the Caprese Panini which was as bland as could be. It was missing the pesto and had unripened tomato slices. It was just like eating toasted bread, there was not much to it, it didn’t even fill out the bread. The worst part of the meal though was the wait. There was no one else there and it took forever– to get waited on and to get our food. I may give it another try, but I am certain.

Nice place to have a cup of coffee and watch the crowd go by. Lovely patio area. Just keep in mind, it is full service. You cannot sit out there if you go inside for the express service.

We went to Daily Ground down the road from the lighthouse to have breakfast. We decided to sit outside on the deck because it was so nice out; it felt like Fall. This spot is really cute and had gorgeous flowers all around it. Our breakfast literally came out in under ten minutes. I was impressed! I ordered the Denver Omelet. It came with home fries and wheat toast. I also ordered a side of fresh fruit. Everything tasted fantastic! The eggs were hot and seasoned, the potatoes were crisp and flavorful, the fruit was fresh and the toast was actually served hot! Our waitress was probably in high school and she was super nice! We had a great breakfast experience there! We will be back.

Small coffee shop located right next to Yorks Wild Kingdom. Small shop with very good coffee. A little pricey but it’s the only real coffee shop in town.

I tried this place while on vacation in York and will NOT be returning to this mismanaged joint. At first the small café seems like a nice inviting place to be. We gave it a chance and the girl that waited on us that day certainly seemed new and did not know much about the menu but I get that you gotta start some where. She put in a great effort and was very attentive and only made a few errors and the food was a little cold. So we decided to give it another chance today and we really regretted that decision. We showed up at 845am and did not get waited on until about 910am. Once waited on we ordered drinks and food at the same time and the drinks came in another 15 mins. The food never came out though we waited and waited for about an hour and asked how much longer and he said they are wrapping it up now. As we waited an additional 20 mins after seeing about 3 other tables arrive after us and finish eating BEFOREWEGOTOURFOOD was very irritating. We told the waiter(tall kid with dark hair), to cancel the order as we had to leave he was rude and muttered to himself«seriously». We paid for our drinks and left and on the way out we saw 3 other tables doing the same. Save yourself the 2 plus hours and go else where. To the owners: Being a business major, I can see the many errors the owners here are making. You need to treat your staff correctly, you can clearly see here that the owners must be terrible to their employees. All of them seem stressed, miserable, and not interested. This shows how much of a turnover rate you must have. Your business will not survive if you have to keep hiring new wait staff.

There’s only one word I can use to sum up my experience at the Daily Grind: No. That’s my answer to «would you ever come here again?» Yeah, no. On a weekend away at a friend’s beach cottage, my friends and I stopped by here for a to-go coffee on a morning walk. The place itself looks lovely – a little patio with trees, a welcoming inside area – but the service is awful. Just awful. The man working the to-go register – I think the owner? – kept trying to be funny and joke around with us and his staff instead of just exchanging pleasantries and taking our orders. It took him a while to get our orders down(four iced coffee, some with a flavor shot) then we waited 15 minutes in the uncrowded, completely lineless pickup area for said coffees while listening to him make fun of his wife(calling her frail) and talk down to his staff(wishing them good luck with making our drinks) in a loud obnoxious voice. It was incredibly painful to witness and incredibly unprofessional. If you’re in York, find another spot for breakfast and coffee – one that cares about its staff and cares enough to not demean them in front of guests.

The food and staff at the Daily Grind is top notch. My wife has to eat gluten free and over the course of our vacation to York, we ate there 5 times. They were very accommodating and every option ordered was scrumptious! We ordered the eggs Benedict each morning for her because the hollandaise sauce contains no gluten and I got a breakfast sandwich on a very soft and delicious bagel! For lunch we tried turkey on a gluten free wrap and steak and cheese on gluten free bread. They even went so far as to broil the gluten free bread so that it wouldn’t dry out in the toaster! James in the kitchen always made sure that everything was made appropriately and was able to be brought back to our hotel down the street. We will for sure be visiting here again next time we are in York beach!

This place used to be great. They changed the format and the menu… it doesn’t work. Service is very slow and the wait was very long for us to get our food. It wasn’t even busy. The Western omelet was great, but my home fries were cold. They shouldn’t have changed what worked. I miss how you just walk up, order and they would bring your food to you. I had to go back in and ask for my drinks then again to get my check. This used to be a weekly weekend stop for us, not anymore very sad.

This is seriously one of the best places in all of York beach. I always get treated kindly and promptly. The food and coffee is good and the owners actually care about the service. I’ve never had a bad visit here in all the years I’ve been a customer and I’ve been coming here since I was a child.

Good coffee and food, but slow and distracted staff. From my table I couldn’t figure out why it was so slow or what the wait staff was doing when they were out of sight. With a good location and good quality there is plenty of potential here.

I used to love this place — only decent cup of coffee around short sands. They changed everything this summer– the coffee, the recipes, and not for the better. They have a real problem managing crowds, you could be waiting 15 minutes just to order coffee(which is self serve!) the food is inconsistent(and takes longer than the coffee). Really nice owners, though!

Just enjoyed a good coffee made from fresh ground coffee. Staff friendly and helpful. On request they served our drinks in china mugs.

The coffee was better than the k cup in my cottage, which was great for me but not saying much. I also got an egg and cheese sandwich on plain bagel. The bagel treated as though it came out of a sealed plastic bag, like what you might buy an at airport or gas station. The egg was barely there but the American cheese was good, but couldn’t save this terrible egg sandwich. How hard is an egg sandwich to do fresh bagels, cooked eggs fresh and cheese? I would never get that sandwich again. Took bad… local places like this can be known for this like awesome egg sandwiches… guess the ownership doesn’t want to take the effort.
