Very disappointed in food quality, $ 9 drinks and service! Our waitress and the manager were both aware of the problems, but only made excuses. Did not offer any suggestions. This has been a favorite place for years. We may return again some day, but too many other great places to go.

I always have so much hope for White Rose, only to be a little disappointed every time I go. The best time to go is Sunday brunch. But the rest of the time, I could take it or leave it. The food is only ok. There’s a lack of fresh ingredients, and little character to their signature dishes. Their beer selection leaves a lot to be desired, especially now that there are some excellent tap lists in town. Wine and cocktails are average. The service is good, but this place is often packed and loud. When the open-air bar is packed, forget it — you’ll have to shove your way to the bar, and then wait forever for a drink, because they never appropriately staff that bar at peak times. The best part of White Rose is still the original part, which many people don’t know about. It has that same dark, grimy, hole in the wall vibe it always had, which seems a lot more honest than the rest of the place.

I was in town for business, and found the White Rose through Unilocal.Reading the reviews, I was intrigued and so I stopped in for a midweek dinner. I found the atmosphere and the service to be delightful, however, the food was bland and lacked anything I might consider exceptional. I started with the crab dip, which wasn’t too bad, it’s served in a bread bowl. The serving was much too large for myself, and would have appreciated knowing so prior to placing the order. Again, not bad, but nothing to write home about. For my entrée I had the Black and Bleu Ribeye, and it was probably the most taste-less Ribeye I’ve ever had. I requested medium, and the steak was certainly well done, which robbed it of some flavor, but the meat itself was lack-luster. The asparagus on the side was decent, but again, I consistently make better on my own grill at home — and I’m far from a chef. All in all… for the price, I was disappointed. Not a bad stop, but the reviews had me hopeful that this place would be better.

Best Sunday brunch in York City. Several brunch and lunch items to choose from at a very reasonable price. Great drink options, too. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I have also enjoyed dinner at The White Rose. Great city location with its own parking lot.

Very large place with a large menu. Felt it was upscale bar food. The dinners our group got had great presentation but the flavor was not there. The drink was large looked great but had little alcohol in it. But I would try it again because of the atmosphere.

This is my favorite place to eat. The service is excellent. As soon as I put my drink down another one comes. I haven’t had a dish I didn’t like. On Sunday’s their burgers are half off so one great burger with crab meat can come to only $ 5. There’s so much seating which is great too. They don’t take reservations but they do call aheads which suffices.

In York to visit family for a day. Great food. Great service. Even accommodated party of 10 with a few children. Had the black and blue rib eye. Great choice. Huge menu selection. Sweet bar. Inside outside dining. We sat on the patio along the Main Street. Nice atmosphere. Great choice. Check it out!

Very friendly staff we shared a history lesson over the bar’s name. Sunday’s special was ½ priced burgers. I had«White Rose Burger —(one) lb. Burger, pulled pork BBQ and cheddar cheese sauce» with onion rings. All terrific, and such a bargain I had two local beers. I want to go back! Don’t be scared off by the tobacco smoke in the other end of the building, the restaurant bar is no smoking!

In York for business and had a burger craving. Some googling led me to a Serious Eats article about the«simple, juicy burger» at the White Rose, and I had to give it a try. Our party of five shared two appetizers and we all got burgers. Our server Danielle was super attentive and friendly. The burgers were excellent! I had the All American burger with American cheese and bacon. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, and the ambiance was very pleasing. Nice beer list too. Nice to dine at such a longstanding establishment — this place has been around for 80 years.

Several must try items in this restaurant. We’ve never had to send a plate back. We’re not big drinkers so I can’t say anything for the bar, sorry.

Wow — this place makes me want to move to York. Or to have all of my business lunches in York. Went here today for a business lunch and got a pretty good staple — salmon ceasar salad — and was really impressed with how fresh the fish was. i fell in love with the ambiance and would LOVE to come here for a happy hour or try something off their cocktail menu. server was very attentive and everyone elses food looked really good. server was also attentive. i order extra lemon in my water always and it never fails that they forget the second refill. i was really happy when they brought extra lemon for my water refill!

In town for business and this place was highly recommended by colleagues. I was very disappointed! I ordered filet and scallops off the hot rock menu.(Don’t waste your time on the hot rock!) I asked for tips on cooking the scallops and making sure they were done. I asked four servers, all had no clue. No assistance given or recommendations other than don’t put pepper on the stone. Once I googled how to make sure they were green, I tried them and they were extremely fishy and tasted old. I didn’t over cook, and asked waitress if scallops were fresh. She made a disgusted face and said no. Steak was good, but not great. Hot stone doesn’t stay hot long enough to evenly cook steak. I won’t waste my time again.

The Ninja Bread on the late night menu is chemical warfare. There was way too much garlic on it. I was drunk and hungry so I ate it anyway, but I could still taste garlic in the morning after brushing and mouthwash. Also, the fries that came with the chicken tenders were bordering on raw(the tenders were fine though). Yards IPA on tap was not as expected either. I’ve had that beer plenty of times and something tasted like citrus cleaner whether it was the glass or the lines. It was slammed since it was first Friday, but that’s no excuse.

We sat outside in the closed in heated area. Its a cool October night. It was 8 of us and we tried burgers, crab soup, onion soup, fries, calimari, all of it was above average. The server was very good and on Sundays burgers are half price. They have a large parking lot, it can fill up but paid parking is across the street. The calimari was a bit chewy but I would order it again. I would eat here again but would like to try some of the other foods on the menu.

The food was average. The service was poor. The crab bisque and french onion were bland. The grilled caesar was good but under dressed. The seafood combination was mixed, the shrimp and scallops were good but the fillet and crabmeat were flavorless and dissapointing. The actual sauce was tasty but the grilled veggies were a little too oily and the mashed potatoes were also bland. My girlfriend ordered the mojito and we couldn’t taste a drop of alcohol(but it tasted good).

Came here for lunch during a historical tour of York. The staff is friendly, there was no wait, and I liked the ambiance inside and outside. I was seated outside on the patio which gave me a chance to watch the locals doing everyday things it was a decent view for York all I can remember was this big clock across the street and the cool art work all over the small area I was in. The coconut shrimp was served with a weird jelly concoction I give a E for effort but I was not impressed with the shrimp they were not seasoned all that well and the jelly that came with it did not satisfy what was needed to bring this dish together. A better dipping sauce would have set the shrimp off. I also had the grilled ceasar salad it was a interesting concept so I figured I would try something new. Now that I had it I will stick to regular Romaine lettuce, grilled wasn’t bad but it didn’t do anything for my salad. The salad was topped with scallops and shrimp, the proportions were a nice size and they provided a good amount of seafood. The seafood could have been seasoned better it was very salty I did not taste anything other than salt. Overall, the service was great, food was ok, and the ambience was nice. If I’m ever in town again i might try the crab cakes.

Today I went to the White Rose for lunch with my wife and must say that I was surprised in a less than pleasant way. First off, the place was fairly busy and that is a good sign. Our waitress was prompt and took care of our table well. Now to the food.. . I normally love this place and usually get the same thing every time I go, the French Dip. Normally I get either chips or onion rings with it but today, I mixed things up and got fries, BIGMISTAKE. My fries were petrifried(yes, that is a play on words). Some of the fries were so over cooked that I couldn’t break them with my hands and they wanted to upcharge me for them? NOTACCEPTABLE!!! Don’t let stuff like that come out of your kitchen, that is just plain bad. My French Dip itself was good as usual and my French Onion soup was also decent but the fact that they let those fries out of the kitchen indicates a quality control issue. For the prices that White Rose charges, this just doesn’t work. I don’t believe that I will be back at this point unless they do something to change up their quality. I really don’t like paying an upcharge for something that was not edible.
